Chapter 70: Chapter 70
Jasmine’s P.O.V.
Why Zac isn’t answering me? Is he in trouble?
Random thoughts corrupted my mind as I gazed at the exit of the room, anticipating a signal from Zac which could answer my doubts.
It’s been more than an hour but there was no sign of Zac nor of Calix or Zagan. I intentionally kept Theodore engrossed so that Zac would get enough time to save Diana but it’s been too long now.
As expected, after my return Theodore was acting like an uxorious husband. His behavior had abruptly taken 360 degrees turn. He was trying to lay all the blame on me as if I had left him or betrayed him when the reality was the opposite.
I again looked at the man who had opened a war against his family for me. My eyes turned glassy because our world was now painted in reverse. It was a time when I used to beg for his attention and today when I decided to obliterate his memories from my life, he again barged in and started to stake his claim over me. If it would have been in the past, I would have gone crazy watching my crush fighting for me but today the only emotion I feel for him is pure disgust.
Lord, why did I even fall for someone like him?
I absent-mindedly ran my eyes around the room when suddenly something caught my attention. I padded to the window to take a better view.
George?
He was talking with a man whose face wasn’t visible to me as his back was facing me. They both were engaged in a serious argument.
Curiosity whetted my insides. I took a furtive glance at Theodore. He was still fighting with Reina who was on a warpath today and why won’t she? After all my arrival foiled her master plan, the plan of claiming the throne of Heaven. Nonetheless, that’s not my priority right now.
So, I weaseled my way out of the room and padded to the door. Checking my surroundings, I exited the room and trotted toward them.
“Once Calix finishes Diana, Kiora would kill him and then I would signal you. You will enter the courtroom and without thinking twice jab the poison-laced sword in her abdomen. No sooner than the final impediment of my life is wiped off than I would attack everyone with my guards and make them captive. The last step left would be to finish Theodore and then the crown and Rose will be mine forever.” George said to that mysterious man. His eyes gleamed with malice.
‘OH MY GOD!!’
I immediately placed my palm on my lips to stifle the horrifying gasp that nearly escaped my mouth.
So, this is what his plan is all about. He’s trying to kill Theo, his brother.
Tears blurred my vision. It was hard for me to believe that George had his eyes on the throne the whole time. He is a snake. He is trying to backstab his brother who loved him like his son.
And Kiora? Fuck, she is here. That bitch used ‘Demonic Arrow’ and turned Cal against Zac. Demonic Arrow is one of the most dangerous spells which is used to hypnotize people and turn them into your puppets. The people lose their identity and become slaves of their masters, the person who had cast that malefic spell on them. They could do anything even murder as their sanity is at the helm of their master who then makes them dance to his tunes.
Oh no, I have to save Diana and Zac before Calix completely loses his mind. The hypnotized person can become insane or would end up killing himself in the end once the spell is broken or over because this magic is too powerful. No one had been able to survive till now. Demonic Arrow was one of the worst forms of torture that were used in the past. Demons used it on Angels to take revenge on them for murdering their loved ones during the war.
Demons would take control over their mind by penetrating their brain and would make them kill their families. Once their wish was fulfilled, they used to revoke the magic. Bogged in despair and regret, the Angels used to commit suicide, ending up sating the demons who celebrated their victory because they were successful in avenging their families without tainting their hands. It was like killing two birds with one stone.
My jaw clenched as I watched that monster guffawing like a fool.
George is sick in his mind. I used to think Theodore was worse but his youngest brother surpassed all the limits of cruelty. His vindictive soul had thrown him on the wrong track. Rose’s rejection and the scathing remarks and judgy eyes he received from his family and his lovable brother not only turned him anti but crazy.
I have to save my Zac and Diana at any cost. Fuck this drama, I should leave to save my brother. Squaring my shoulders, I grabbed the hem of my gown, preparing myself to leave when a familiar voice halted my steps.
“Don’t worry master, everything will be executed according to your plan.”
Zagan?
I turned back with the speed of light only to witness the scene that steamed my neck.
George patted Zagan’s shoulder while nodding in approval.
WHAT THE HELL!!
He betrayed us.
I can’t believe it.
It was too painful to watch the man whom I had trusted after so long shaking hands with my enemy. But for the sake of my family especially my sister, Zac, and Diana, I bite the bullet and continued eavesdropping.
George threw him an amusing smile and spoke before squeezing his shoulder, “It would be painful for you to kill the one whom you had given your heart to but you have to obey your master, isn’t it?”
Huh? Master?
Don’t tell me he is also hypnotized.
But Zagan’s next words confirmed my doubts, “Nothing comes before the master. Your work will be done, keep your faith in me.”
My shoulders slumped as a deep sigh left my mouth.
So, Kiora had used her powers on both Calix and Zagan, the only difference is that Zagan is George’s slave and Calix is hers. Great.
George smiled proudly. He was gratified with his fidelity.
“All right then. Keep an eye on that bitch but don’t kill her. I am heading to meet my men who I am sure had girded up the loins by now. After all, this will be my biggest move so I need to make sure everything is ready. I won’t accept defeat this time.” He said, his eyes darkening.
I resisted the urge to chuckle.
Just wait till I save Zac, I will make you cry tears of blood, fucker.
Giving Zagan a curt nod, George then turned his heels and left. I stared at Zagan who was watching his retreating figure with emotionless eyes. My heart cried in pain watching him in this state.
I know what I was about to do can end up my life but there was no other option left. Taking a deep breath, I moved toward Zagan with cautious steps. His muscles turned stiff; I am sure he sensed me. A gulp formed in my throat; my legs wobbled in fear. I was completely terrified but this was the only way to break the spell.
“Zag-Ahh!!”
A yelp left my mouth, I didn’t even get time to defend myself because he turned around, grabbed my neck, and in a blink of an eye, slammed me on one of the nearby pillars. I quickly held his wrists and looked at him only to confront his demonic eyes that were set straight on my paled face.
“Zagan, it’s me, Jasmine,” I spoke with difficulty. He was choking me to death.
“Yes, I know. You’re the one who kept peeving my master. I would help my master get rid of you, bitch.”
My nostrils flared. He’s completely under George’s thumb, the spell is inhibiting him to listen to me.
Zagan tightened his grip; he had gone amuck. Catching my breath, I reached to hold his face.
“You’re the biggest obstacle in my master’s life, you need to be gone so that he can get what he wants.” He spoke, but I know they were not his but George’s words. He was simply narrating his master’s thoughts.
“Zagan”, I spoke softly and grabbed his right cheek in my palm.
Zagan suddenly froze on spot as soon as my fingers made contact with his burning skin. I traced my fingers on his cheekbones and slowly cupped his face in my hands.
“Zagan, it’s me Jasmine, the one whom you love.” I smiled and caressed his cheeks with my thumbs. His pupils dilated and the crease on his forehead deepened. He was having a hard time fighting with his demonic side but I didn’t back down either.
After a while, his body suddenly turned limp and he threw his whole weight on me. I grabbed him by his shoulders and we both crouched on the ground. Zagan also rested his head on my left shoulder as the magic had sapped his whole energy.
Running my fingers over his dampened locks, I helped him calm down, I could hear his erratic heartbeat. This magic is too powerful and exhausting, I wonder how Calix had been coping with it.
Finally, when his breathing stabilized, Zagan peeled himself away from my arms. I sighed when I watched his guilty, watery eyes that even didn’t dare to face me.
“Hey, it’s okay. It’s not your fault. Look at me,” I cooed and cupped his face before making him look at me. Smiling, I wiped the tears trickling from the corner of his eyes as he sobbed like a child in my embrace.
“I-I am sorry Jasmine. I failed to protect you. I failed to fulfill the promises I made to you and Zachary.” He cried.
“It’s not the time to lament, Zagan. Tell me what happened. I want to know everything. Only this way, we would be able to help Zac and Diana.” I tried to make him understand.
After a lot of tries, Zagan finally put paid to self-pitying and told me everything. How George attacked him and Calix, and how Kiora caught them and hypnotized them. He no longer remembered the latter incidents since the spell erased his memories. He doesn’t even remember strangling me or calling me a bitch. But that was my least concern as fortunately, I had heard George’s plans which made my task easier.
“Shit, only if I had been more careful. This wouldn’t have happened.” Zagan turned frenzied after I told him about Calix.
Zagan looked at me and grabbed my hands, “Jasmine, let’s drop the act and go to Calix. Theodore will come to know very soon so let’s just run to rescue Zac and Diana. Kiora will kill Calix; I know her very well. Once she makes up her mind, she won’t stop until she gets it.” He spoke in a worried tone and made me stand on my feet.
“Lets’ go-“
“Wait.” I pulled him back earning a frown from him.
“What? Don’t tell me you’re still stuck on your lame-ass plan. Diana is in trouble Jasmine; we have to run and save her before Calix and Zac end up killing themselves.” He seethed on my face.
I narrowed my eyes at him, “And what the hell are you planning to do to save them? Will your presence help Calix gain his sanity or would exacerbate the situation more.” I snapped at him. Zagan looked at me with wide eyes.
“What? But how-“
“Just a few minutes before you were after my blood. But now you’re all right. What do you think I had done to bring you back?” I questioned him.
Zagan stared at me for some time, whacking his brains before speaking, “Uhmm, maybe you used a spell that nullified the effects of that magic.” His answer was more like a question. He doesn’t remember anything that had transpired a few minutes before.
I flashed him a smile and pinched his cheek, “No my touch brought you back and you know why?”
“Because I love you. Damn!!” Zagan exclaimed after realizing it. I nodded in approval.
“So that means we can get rid of this magic only by the touch of the person whom we love. That’s so sweet. So, I love you. Oh, I cannot believe this. You’re my true love.” He chuckled and started babbling non-stop. I couldn’t resist the urge to laugh at his childish behavior. Never knew demons could be this cute.
“All right then. So, you have understood what we have to do next.” I stopped laughing and asked him firmly. His smile faltered.
“Uhmm, no. I didn’t get it.” He spoke awkwardly and scratched the back of his head.
‘Ugg!!’
I let out a groan and shot him a glare, “Zagan. We have to bring Rose to Calix. She can only help him.”
Zagan nodded first but when my words registered in his mind, he looked at me in shock, “WHA-What? Are you out of your mind? Calix can end up killing Rose.” He whisper-yelled.
Releasing a deep sigh, I spoke “I know it’s a risky move but it’s the only option we have. And I am pretty positive about it because you were cured so would Calix. So, we have to bring Rose to him and only you can do this.”
Silence fell between us as we both contemplated this matter.
I know what I am planning to do was way too risky but for the sake of Diana, I have to take this step.
Lost in thoughts, I was startled to feel a palm caressing my head. I looked up only to find Zagan smiling at me softly.
“You’re right. We have to do something and if your touch cured me then Rose would cure Calix. Don’t worry, I will bring her to him.”
A smile broke on my lips. Zagan pulled me in his arms, hugging me tightly. I chuckled and patted his back.
“All right now go,” I said while breaking the hug. Zagan then gave him a nod and disappeared in the air to execute our plan.
‘I hope it works.’
