Chapter 71: Chapter 71
Rose’s P.O.V.
“GET ME OUT OF HERE, BASTARDS!!!”
Arthur screamed at the top of his lungs while banging the iron rails with his chained wrists. His face was contoured with rage and despair. And why not? He failed to protect his only sister from that obsessed beast. Not only he but we all failed to protect our loved ones from those power blinded monsters. Diana and Jasmine, we don’t know how they are. What is the Theo family planning on doing with them?
I again looked at Arthur who was thrashing the iron rails again and again like a madman. My eyes turned teary as Arthur loved Diana very much so it was obvious to see him dead worried for her safety. Just like me. George abducted me and caged me in the dungeon along with Diana’s family, the only difference was the iron rails that separated us. We could feel the same agony, feel the same pain but neither can we mitigate it nor we could comfort each other.
After caging me, George never came to check on me once. His actions befuddled me but at the same time make me apprehensive. I am sure he is planning something big, something very dangerous but the worst part is that I can’t do anything but count the days until the arrival of our doom. Arthur, Ariel, The King and Queen of Moonland, everyone tried their powers but nothing worked as we are being held captive under the sovereign prince. No one can stand in front of Theodore as he’s the strongest ruler of Heaven so it’s evident that no angel’s powers can challenge his decisions.
I reverted my eyes to Arthur only to see his hands bleeding profusely. He was hurting himself. I immediately stood up and ran to the door.
“Arthur, stop,” I yelled but he didn’t listen and kept slamming his fists on the rusty rails. Ariel also ran to him while dragging the chain that was wrapped around her left ankle.
“Arthur, hurting yourself wouldn’t help you in any way. It will only debilitate you. We need to stay strong for Diana.” She cried and tried to grab his hand precluding him from hurting himself any further. But before she could touch him, Arthur jerked back from her and shot her a death glare.
“STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU CRAZY WOMAN!!!”
He snarled stunning everyone to silence. I gulped and looked at Ariel who was shedding rivers of tears. Arthur was mad at her just like me. She destroyed everyone’s lives because of her stubbornness.
Biting her lower lip, Ariel again tried to make him understand but Arthur wasn’t in the mood to listen to her excuses anymore.
“WHAT?? NOW WHAT ARIEL?? This is what you wanted right? Marrying my sister off to that obsessed king who is sick in his mind. Then why the tears? You should be celebrating. After all, you succeeded in your stupid plan.” He gritted and threw her a smile that was filled with disdain.
Ariel shook her head in the negative, “I-I know I did a mistake. But at the same time, you can’t ignore the fact that I did everything for Diana. Zachary was a demon, Arthur. We all saw how he molested her and assaulted her and she ran to us for safety. His actions confirmed my decision that I wasn’t making a mistake.”
“AND THAT’S WHY YOU TOLD HER ABOUT THEODORE WITHOUT EVEN INFORMING ME!!”
Arthur blared startling her. My jaw dropped.
Ariel was the one who informed Theodore about Diana and that she was in Moonland. How could she?
“I-I was only trying to save her from that demon, Arthur? Why don’t you understand me? I know I did a grave mistake but I was only trying to protect her. You know I love her just like you do.”
“STOP!!!”
Arthur raised his bloodied palm in the air which instantly clammed her up. A shiver ran down my spine when he coiled his fingers around her neck leaving red imprints and hurled her towards himself.
“I AM WARNING YOU. DON’T YOU EVER SAY THAT YOU LOVE MY SISTER AS I DO!! No sane person will snatch the beloveds of their loved ones based on their creeds. You had a wrong perspective of demons since birth, so you decided to impose your beliefs and opinions on everyone. Making someone understand and forcing someone to understand are completely two different things Ari. You were cognizant of the love between Zac and Diana yet you gave her to that vindictive psychopath who only cares about his needs. And now when you saw his real face, you’re trying to play the victim card.” He snickered and pushed her back.
Ariel covered her mouth and leaned onto the wall as she started bawling her eyes out. I felt sad for her but Arthur wasn’t wrong at the same time. Everyone tried to make her understand but her love for Theo’s family turned her blind. Now we all are facing the repercussions of her mistakes.
All of a sudden, the air around us turned malicious. We all peeped through the iron rails only to meet our tormentor descending the stairs. His gait oozed power and dominance. His heart-shaped lips were curved in a fiendish smile while his dark eyes were staring at me perversely.
He was none other than George.
Standing in front of me, he continued staring at me, reveling in my misery but his smile soon faltered on finding no response from me.
“Rioting? Angry?” He said and let out a chuckle. I clenched my fists and looked away.
George then signaled his guards to open the door. My senses immediately turned alert as I saw him entering the prison.
I tried my best to stay firm, didn’t want him to show my weakness but my legs betrayed me as I quickly stepped back when he took a step in my direction. George noticed it as his smirk widened. I mentally slapped myself but I was helpless. The things which he had made me go through have instilled a deep fear of him in my mind. I couldn’t help but tremble just by his sight. I wish I was strong but I wasn’t and that makes me hate myself.
George then towered over my small frame, the power he holds over me made me weaker.
Raising his hands in the air, he tried to touch my face but I quickly moved back which left his hand hanging in the air.
“Uh-uh. So much arrogance? Well, it suits you, my Rosa.” He sneered and despite my struggles, twirled a rogue strand of my hair between his fingers.
I shot him a glare but a scream escaped my lips when he tugged on it roughly.
“But it doesn’t suit you now.” His pitch abruptly dropped low. I tried to get away from him but he suddenly grabbed a chunk of my hair and pulled me toward himself.
“AHH!! LEAVE ME!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING??” I screamed and thrashed my arms around. But that beast tightened his grip further setting my scalp on fire.
I gazed into his dark eyes that were glistening with rage, lust, and malice. Bringing me closer to his lips, he sneered at my face.
“The thing which I should have done before, Rosa. You rejected me but fell for that Demon, huh?? YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SPURN ME, THE PRINCE OF THE THEO DYNASTY!! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?”
Tears cascaded down my eyes as he kept pulling my hair. But I won’t let him intimidate me anymore. Grabbing his wrist, I jabbed my nails in his flesh taking blood out of them and retorted.
“I am not answerable to you. You don’t get a say in my life. Yes, I have no worth in front of you but being a Prince do your actions suits you? You’re getting affected by a mere peasant who rejected you when you can marry any royal beauty. You are threatening a girl who holds no position in your world to marry you. Do your acts justify the tenets of the mighty Theo Dynasty?” I said and met his glare head-on.
My words turned him speechless. His hold on my hair loosened and I wasted no time and slapped his hands away.
“What? Did the cat get your tongue? Aren’t I correct? Why the hell are you and your brother throwing tantrums for two maidens whom you have always considered inferior to you? If we love demons then it’s our choice and if we did a crime then behead us. Kill us? Why do we need to marry you for that?” I said and chuckled while wiping my tears.
George kept quiet for some time but soon his anger kicked in.
He marched towards me like a raging bull. I tried to protect myself but he lunged at me. Grabbing my throat, he slammed me on the rugged wall knocking the air out of my lungs.
“G-George?”
“SHUT UP!!! HOW DARE YOU HUMILIATE ME THIS WAY?? MOM WAS RIGHT, BUGS LIKE YOU ARE MEANT TO BE TROMPED ON!!” He blared. My lungs burned for oxygen but he didn’t rest a bit and continued strangling me.
Lowering his face to my level, he looked down at me, penetrating my soul with his red-rimmed eyes.
“You are right Rosa. I think I gave you too much space. Too much freedom of which you’re not worthy. Fine then, let’s come down to brass tacks. Today is our wedding. I will marry you in front of everyone and no one will be able to stop me.”
I stared at him in horror.
“W-What are you talking about? No way, I would marry a freak like you.” I grated out but my words only fuelled his anger more.
He looked monstrous. Oh my god, he will break my neck. My struggles grew violent as I squirmed under him like a dying fish. Black spots started appearing in front of me. I could feel my head throbbing.
“You won’t be able to marry her if you kill her master.”
An inaudible voice rang in my ears. I felt George loosening his grip and I instantly slumped on the floor while coughing hard.
Once my breath turned normal, I lifted my head only to see George staring at me furiously. But a deep voice snapped my head in its direction.
A tall stout man with perfect, chiseled features was looking at me. His eyes were cold as ice and soulless. Like a statue. But for some reason, he appeared dubious to me.
His features were in stark contrast to George’s. Rather they were familiar with Calix.
I kept looking at him, figuring out his identity when suddenly George spoke breaking my trance.
“Chain her up and make sure she doesn’t escape. Slaughter Di’s family, no one should survive.” He rasped.
I gasped in shock. “NO!! HOW COULD YOU-”
“As you say, master.” That creep quickly replied cutting my words midway. I looked at George helplessly but he didn’t even spare me a glance and turned his heels.
“NO!! GEORGE!! YOU CAN’T DO THIS!!”
I shouted and tried to chase him but was held back by his loyal dog who held my arms in a bruising grip. I tried to wiggle out of his grip and kept shouting at George who exited the prison with his guards.
“Leave me. Get away from me.” Growling, I twisted and turned my body when that man pulled me towards his chest and wrapped an arm around my waist to secure me in place.
His act turned me frenzied.
‘What was he planning to do?’
I looked at Arthur who looked equally terrified.
Tears blurred my vision. I don’t intend on dying like this. I will happily choose death over George but not after getting ruined by a stranger.
Fat dollops of tears rolled down my cheeks as I kept struggling which was all in vain as his strength was incomparable.
“P-Please don’t.” I sobbed and tried to maintain some distance as the proximity was making me retch.
But his actions baffled me as I heard him cooing in my ears. He was trying to comfort me.
‘What’s going on?’
My sobs ceased and eventually died down. He leaned down to my ear, his hot breath fanning my skin.
“Shh. You don’t have to fear me, Rose. I had been sent by Jasmine to save you all.”
