Chapter 29: Chapter 29
I squinted my eyes at the harsh lighting. Blinking my eyes open I looked around. My vision felt blurry as I tried to narrow my eyes. I clutched my head as if felt heavy when I tried to sit up.
"You're awake?" Lukas voice rang in my ears. I snapped my attention towards him, eyes widening when I noticed that he was sitting on the floor near the nightstand. How is that possible?
It felt weird to see him like that, a blank look on his face and yet so calm. The bags under his eyes along with the five o'clock shadow on his face made me narrow my eyes. His usual coat was wrinkled by the side, the top three buttons open, giving the view of his bare chest. My lips pressed together. Did something happen which kept him up all night? There has to be a reason why he was sitting on the floor like that.
I groaned, shaking my head, as thinking about it hurt, "What happened to me?"
He sat up, pulling the pillow behind my back so that I could sit up. A sigh left my lips. I could feel the dryness in my throat as I tried to speak. I motioned towards the glass. Lukas handed it to me before I could lean down.
"Thanks" I croaked accepting the glass from his hand.
As I sipped the water I could feel his intense gaze on me like he was trying to figure out something. My hands felt clammy as I tried to hand him the glass back. I clutched my head as the memory suddenly flashed in my mind. The vision of me being attacked and lying on the floor in a pool of blood made me gasp.
My hands immediately flew towards my stomach and I noticed that there were no traces of blood whatsoever. Did I imagine that? I thought staring at my palm.
"You are awake" Lukas cleared his throat.
'You think?' I coughed under my breath.
"Why are you in my room?" I asked, my hands folded in my lap. His jaw clenched at the question.
"Do you remember anything from yesterday?"
I twisted, "If by anything you mean getting attacked by your pet hellhound and almost dying then yes"
"Our baby" He corrected
I wanted to roll my eyes at that but held back because he was the only one who could answer the questions going in my mind.
"So it was not a dream? What happened?"
Lukas took a sharp breath, "Fang- he never does that. There must be someone behind that but don't worry he's locked up for now. I couldn't deal with him at the moment"
I bobbed my head. The thought of that Hellhound made me shiver. It was so vicious and huge. For a moment it felt like I was going to die.
"How long was I out?"
"Two days"
My mouth parted in shock.
"And what about my-our baby?" I corrected myself to which his lips twitched. He caught my slip up.
His eyes shifted towards my stomach which made me squirm. Why was he staring at me like that? I thought.
"It's fine...the fairies they got you herbs from Mount Olympus"
My eyes widened at the name, "The place where Greek Gods live?"
Lukas hummed. I thought that no one was allowed to step thereafter the harsh rule of Hera. I did not know much about it but only a few details which Leo shared with me. He loved that place because everyone was too heavenly and pretty. Also, they did not see him as a demon.
"Wow... I should thank them"
Lukas huffed, "Don't worry you will get the opportunity to do that sooner than you think as they are staying here"
"Huh?" I arched my eyebrow.
"Yama thought it would be a good idea to let them stay as gratitude. Besides, they did save your life so I agreed"
I nodded my head, not knowing what to say. I still could not write my head around the fact that I was attacked by something I thought was precious. Not only that but Lukas was being too civil and kind which did not sit right with me. Something was definitely up with him.
"Are you feeling well?"
I actually felt better after drinking that water. My vision was clear than before and the aching in my head was very dull, almost gone.
"I am"
He stared at me for a few seconds before standing up. I eyed him as he hovered over the bed, his hands stuffed in his pants pocket awkwardly. He never acted that way. What happened to that cool and calm King?
"Good. You should not have a problem to attend tonight's party then"
"A what?" I squeaked.
He looked painful as he uttered the next words.
"Lord Yama thought it would make you feel better if you mix with people and party. He's our guest so I..." Lukas looked down, his lips folded together.
My heart flutter when he used the word our. I was not expecting him to do that. One thing I learned about Lukas was he extremely leaned towards pleasing people and being polite no matter what.
"I'll be there" I softly said
His eyes widened, "Are you sure? You could say no and I'll understand"
I shook my head. It was getting pretty tiring to be inside the room.
"I am sure. I'll be there"

Kira was happy to see me, almost happy to give me a hug but she refrained. It was funny to see how she was bouncing with excitement but holding back at the same time. The demons working in the mansion had to be strictly professional no matter what so that's why she was behaving that way.
I specifically asked for her help to pick my outfit. Mira was there in the mansion but I had no intention of entertaining her hot and cold mood.
"Is it a huge party?" I asked while sitting on the edge of the bed. Kira was busy trying to pick an outfit I would like. So far I already rejected twenty of them. They were too short.
She hummed, her face towards the wardrobe, "Yeah it's Lord Yama after all. He has connections all over the realms"
"I don't even know him that well for him to throw me a party" I huffed, crossing my arms.
Kira laughed, "Miss Talia that's how he is. Lord always finds a way to throw a party. I was surprised that he was quiet on the first today"
"Really?"
"Yeah, the last time he visited during the Ball most of them stayed back as they were tired. Lord Yama, on the other hand, was planning a party for the next"
My lips parted in shock, "Wow he really is something"
Kira was quiet at that. She never really commented or agreed with my offensive statements against the demons. But from the look on her face, it was clear that she was agreeing with me.
"What about this one?" She turned around a green colour long gown in her hand.
My face scrunched at the colour, "It looks too green"
"Miss Talia you are very difficult to please"
I laughed, staring at the green dress being tossed on the other side of the bed, "Why thank you"
She sighed before turning back and rifling through the outfits again.
I leaned back, folding my legs, my thoughts going back to Lukas. There was something going on with him and it felt unsettling to not know about it. Maybe I should ask Kira.
"Kira..." I drawled out her name
"Hmm?"
"Is something wrong with Lukas? He looked very tired today"
Kira turned around, showing another outfit. A white boat-neck bodycon. I tugged it in my lap and raised my head at her, waiting for her reply.
"My King has not slept a wink from two days and did not leave this room at all. That's why he looks tired"
"What?" My eyes flew open at those words. Lukas was by my side for two days? Why would he do that when he said I don't mean anything to him?
Kira nodded her head, "The fairies said that you would only wake up if someone applied the herbs on your stomach and feet every two hours. My master was doing that for two days"
I felt my breath hitch in my throat as the words sunk in. I had no idea that he was saving me again. Why would he not say anything about it? He simply walked away without a word.
I licked my lips, my eyes on the dress in my lap, "I thought the demons do not need sleep or food. Why was he tired?"
"We don't but we need human emotions to function. Unlike us, my King gets his energy from Hell. Punishing the corrupted soul is what keeps him alive."
I gaped, "So he didn't leave my side at all?"
"Not even for a second Miss Talia"
