Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Olivia's pov:

I gasped when I saw Sam on the opposite side of the door. An awkward vibe filled the air, and I was super blank. I did not know how to react but just stare at his face. Out of all the people in the world, was he the only one to save me from here?

I was expecting him to be furious by looking at me but once as I looked into his eyes, all I saw was a confused person rather than a person filled with hate. But why? Why was it like that? I was expecting him to lash out at me!

I remembered all the bitter words he said to me like it was yesterday, but my mind and my heart were giving me mixed signals. I did not know anymore!

"Olivia? You? What were you doing here?" he questioned.

I looked at him with annoyance and replied, "What do you think I would do here? In a bathroom?" in a sassy voice.

Why was he asking me such dumb questions? I stormed out of the bathroom and walked towards my table to acquire my bag and phone and board the bus as quickly as possible! I could not stand in front of that guy! I was not comfortable around him and I needed to get away as far as I could!

Anyways, he could lash out at me at any time he felt like!

Upon reaching the dining area, I was left shocked to find my bag and phone out of sight. They were nowhere to be found! The table was fully empty.

I tried to look around the table to see if they fell on the dusty ground, but they were nowhere to be found.

To make matters worse, I suddenly realized that not only was my table empty but the whole restaurant was empty!

Every single creator was nowhere to be found! What happened? Did I miss something? I was so shocked and scared! I could not understand what was happening! Where were everyone?!

The place looked like a ghost town. Nothing but the wind was present. I looked over at the road to find the buses missing.

At the sight of the missing bus, my jaw dropped! My eyes popped at the empty road where the buses were supposed to be parked in an orderly manner.

No, this cannot be! How could they do this? Why did they leave me behind?

I looked at the corner of my eye to see Sam in a shocked face like me while holding his bag. He looked completely confused himself.

He opened his mouth to exclaim, "Where are the buses? Where is everyone?"

"What are we going to do? We are stuck here!"

I squinted at his "shocked" face and marched towards him saying, "This is all your fault!"

I did not know why I blamed him but my anger within me would not let me stop! I just had to continue!

"You did this right? Why can't you leave me alone?" I added.

My anger was raging through my veins and I could not contain it. The anger that I had bottled up for so long had finally burst. I had to let out all the steam within me!

I was waiting for an answer from him but instead of giving me a satisfactory reply, he said, "Forget about this, let's find a way to get out of here! We need to start thinking as soon as possible!"

Was he serious? I managed to calm down as getting out of here was more important than getting my anger realized at him. I could get my revenge later with this guy. I turned around and scoffed like a brat and stated, "Well genius, you have a phone, right? Call up your best friends!"

To which he immediately replied, "My phone is dead, why don't you use your phone, 'genius'?"

I stared at him with annoyance and began waving my empty hands at him, "Do you see a phone in my hand? I do not know where it is! Someone must have stolen my stuff"

He began clapping his hands like a crowd that had gone wild. I could not believe he had the audacity to do that.

I walked up and held his hands, to prevent him from clapping. In the moment, I could not resist looking at his cute face. I really missed being this closed to him....

Wait, no! I had to forget about him. He had been nothing but trouble to me. But it was easier said than done! I did not what was pulling me closer to him but that needed to go! I could not let myself get hurt once more when the previous pain had still not subsided!

"Are you done touching my hands? Can we leave?"

I started to blush slightly at his sudden question. I let go of his arms and walked towards the exit of the restaurant.

I scanned the empty muddy road with no one at sight. I could not understand where to go or what to do. The workers of the restaurant were at their lunch break, so they were not anywhere at sight as well! It was just me and Sam in the area.

There was literally no sign of life for miles. Whoever stole my bag and phone was a complete jerk! All my contacts, emails, pictures etc. were all gone away! How to get myself away from this situation? I felt like punching the air at the thought of my stolen goods!

Sam caught up to me and looked at the path of the never-ending road.

He began stretching his hands and yawning as if he were more relaxed stranded here than at the resort. I had no idea why he reacted the way he did!

I got annoyed and with force, tapped his shoulder and looked straight in his eyes.

I gestured, asking him what he was doing instead of finding a way out of this mess.

"I mean, let's walk! What else can we do? Who knows we may find help along the way..."?

He suggested with no concern in his tone or expression.

How could anyone be calm in that situation? We had no phone, transport and there was no human within our range!

Then again, it was Sam, so I did not expect much. I felt that if he would have reacted the same way if he were stuck in the middle of the ocean.

I could not believe I ever looked up to this guy. He definitely did a fabulous job at portraying himself differently on camera.

I marched forward angrily and did not look back at him.

I was hoping that he would follow me but once I turned around, I discovered that I was very wrong!

He just stood at the same spot with his hair flowing in the dusty wind. I swear, if I had the chance to strangle him....

I could not make this trip on my own, so I had no choice but to go back and call him to accompany me.

"Are you coming or not?" I asked while folding my hands. I was very annoyed at him.

"Oh of course! Why did you not say so first?" he replied.

At that point, he was very successful at getting on my nerves if that were his actual intentions. But I tried to ignore it as he was my best shot at making it back to the resort, unfortunately!

He picked his stuff and waited for me to lead the way. He really was pushing his luck.

I made it a point to just focus on getting us out of the middle of nowhere.

The sun was beating on us and it felt like we were baking in an oven. I couldn't bear the intense heat. The lack of water in our bottles worsened the situation and there was no store for miles.

I kept on looking at the road to see if any cars passed by, but I was finding nothing at all and that worried me. It was so strange that no one was there!

We were walking for an hour or so, but it felt like forever. No cars, no houses, no stores and mostly no people made it seem like we were in an apocalyptic world.

If that were the case, I would not stand a chance against any kind of zombie.

I glanced at the corner of my eye to see Sam whistling and walking carefree.

I wondered what was on his mind to make him feel so comfortable and relaxed.
