Chapter 40: Chapter 40
Ingrid's POV
"I'm planning to bring Raya to Manila," he said so I immediately turned to him.
"She won't agree to leave with you, she doesn't want to go there," I said.
"She already agreed," he said. I was even more confused because of that. I can't afford to be separated from my daughter.
“She studies here, Indigo…” I know he will think again that I am depriving him but I can't do it without Raya. I will accept his anger no matter how bad it is.
"I know," he said to me with a shrug. It was as if he just didn’t care what I was feeling. I can’t stop clenching my fist because of it.
"Don't take my daughter away from me, Indigo—" He immediately cut it off.
"Our daughter." He corrects.
"Just like how you walked away from me?" he asked me. I could not speak there but still looked at him. Tears welled up in my eyes at the idea that he would take Raya from me and that is what I was afraid of. I heard his deep sigh.
“Just 3 days, Ingrid. I will not take Raya away from you like how you took her away from me,” he said. Of course, he's still mad and still holding a grudge. As if a pot of needles is already taken away because of what he said.
"And you'll come with us." It seems like it's final. He kept looking at me so I nodded slowly.
The days passed and we actually traveled to Manila. While on the flight, I also carried out some of my work because I also planned to finish my job while we were going there. Raya also just fell asleep on my lap. I didn't sleep because it will be more sleepy for Indigo.
"What do you want?" he asked. I just said those that are easy to eat but he ordered a lot.
"For Raya," he said.
"Raya doesn't like fast food," I said. I told him that. He bites the inside of his mouth before nodding.
"Okay, you can eat that," he said, so I just kept looking at him. He also ignored me and just continued driving. He didn't even eat first.
"Do you want me to feed you?" I asked him. He simply turned to me there. I know I've been looking clingy for the past few days, but of course, this guy can't be softened just like that. He always seems irritated to me.
"You're holding Raya," he said. Then don't. Nevermind then.
"I'm awake now. You can go and feed Tatay, Nanay." I don’t know if my daughter's radar is strong or what.
"You can sit in the front seat, Nanay, so I can lie down," she even demanded.
"No need... Maybe your Dad isn't hungry yet," I said, smiling at her so Indigo stopped the car on the side so I can change sit. He could just stop then he should have just eaten too.
The silence enveloped us even more. I was even silenced by our child's wide grin as she looked at us. I don't know from whom she got her naughtiness but I know very well who she inherited it from.
"Water?" I asked Indigo.
"Yeah, thanks," he casually said.
"How about you, Nak? What do you want to eat?" I asked Raya.
"I'm still full, Nanay. I'll just eat a sandwich, can I?" she asked so I nodded. We also brought a vegetable salad because that's what she requested.
"What else do you want?" I asked Indigo.
"You," he said, so I immediately looked at him. I almost choked on my own saliva because his face was serious.
"You can choose for me." I just pouted because of my thoughts.
The trip was fast because the two of them are just really the same, they are fun to be with. Raya was even singing to the song that her father is playing.
We soon arrived at Indigo's house. I can't help but be amazed because of the size of his house. I just smiled because he reached so high.
"Wow, is this your house, Tatay?" Raya asked him.
"Technically it's our house, Nak," he said before holding Raya's hand. I just kept quiet as we went inside. A caretaker greeted us, Indigo talked to him for a while.
"My child, Raya," he introduced his daughter. The caretaker looked shocked, but in the end, he just nodded.
"This is Ingrid, Manong Harold," Indigo said. Just Ingrid. What do you expect, Ingrid? Introduce you as to what? It's really just Ingrid because you're not friends either. But he can introduce me as his ex too.
"Hey, good morning, Ma'am Ingrid," he greeted me. I just smiled back too. Manong Harold is the only person here because he is the only one working for Indigo.
I just followed Raya and Indigo. Raya just looked at the house and sometimes asked her father some questions.
"Are you alone here, Tatay?" she asked her father. Indigo nodded at her.
"That's sad," she exclaimed so I couldn't help but agree. Indigo just smiled at the child's thought.
“But now, we are here! You won't be lonely because Nanay and I will be with you every day. ” My daughter's smile was so wide that I couldn't help but stare at her. I smiled there. I saw Indigo glancing at me so I just smiled at him. He, in turn, voluntarily averted his eyes.
“What do you want to add at home, Nak? We'll have a major renovation,” he said. There is only one thing on the child's mind. Her garden. I just smiled when we went to the garden. Raya wants to do a lot there. She wants to put on a hammock so I can't help but laugh. I saw Indigo whispering something to her when I was busying myself with the plants here.
“What about you, Nanay? You don't want anything to change in our house?” she asked. I almost choked on my own saliva because of our daughter's sudden question. When I looked at Indigo, he was also looking at me. I just looked back at the child and just smiled and shook my head. I have no right to change anything, especially if it's Indigo's house.
We don't have any relationship, in fact, I'm just coming here because of our child. He has no choice but to include me in his plans but if someday he can find another woman, I should be ready because his only responsibility is his child.
"None?" Isn't it your dream to have your own library for your lectures and for editing?" Raya asked me.
“Not anymore, Nak. We have our house in Nueva Ecija. Maybe I'll just do it there,” I said. Indigo looked at me there. As usual, his eyes were dark again when he met mine.
When we finished touring the whole house, we visited some places here but Raya, as usual, really preferred a peaceful place.
She and her father even played at the mall, at least I did but I didn't participate much because I let them bond. Our child was very tired when we got home.
We took a half bath together. I was combing her hair when Indigo entered the room. His hair is still very wet. He looks like he take bath.
“Mom! We should all just sleep together!” Raya said with a wide smile.
"Huh?" I asked, looking at Indigo who was just standing on the side while wiping his wet hair. I swallowed hard because of that.
"No need. There are many rooms here in your father's house," I said with a smile.
"There are no vacancies, all the rooms are not finished except for my room," Indigo said so I immediately turned to him. I was silenced because his room is where we are staying now.
“Huh? Okay, I'll stay on the sofa. I know you two also want to bond,” I said with another smile.
"Then let the three of us bond together, Nay!" Raya said while smiling. I looked back at Indigo. I want it to side with me because I know he doesn't want that to happen. He's still mad at me.
"Your mother doesn't want to, Nak, let's not force her," he said so I couldn't help but frown at him in his angry tone.
“Awwe, don't you want to be next to me now, Nanay? I've noticed you before, maybe you like Racen more than me,” she said with a smirk. Racen is my elem student who is also very talented. Always asking questions and Raya always see that. This child is always jealous when it comes to me. I don't have a favorite student because they are all important to me but of course, this cute little girl is an exception.
"No, ah, you're just Nanay's baby," I said, smiling at her.
"All right, I'm going to sleep here, don't sulk," I said so I could see the wide smile she have. I couldn't help but shake my head because she gets me in that line again. She was immediately happy with my decision. I could hardly move in my seat when Indigo sit next to Raya and me.
My heartbeat seemed to stop, fortunately, my hand did not stop combing our child's hair. I can easily smell Indigo's fragrance on my seat.
"Do you want to comb her hair?" I asked him. I didn't even look at him because we were so close to each other. Wow, Ingrid, are you a teenager?
"You can do it," he said, looking like he was just watching us.
"I want to watch your movie, Tay," Raya said so Indigo looked at her. There was a look of amazement and joy on his face. I couldn't help but smile there.
"Although I already watch some because Nanay always watches it," she said, so I almost choked on my own saliva. Because this daughter of mine is destroying me. I didn't look back at Indigo because I felt ashamed.
"It's famous, how can I not watch it?" I don’t even know how to laugh. I just close my eyes to myself.
We started watching. Raya is in the middle of us. She's just seriously watching. I couldn’t help but grin as I watched her expression. I gently stroked her hair which made her look sleepy.
"Tay, I'm sorry, I'm sleepy," Raya said to Indigo. Her father laughed at her. He just messed up Raya's hair because of that.
"Sleep well, daughter," he said, kissing Raya on the forehead.
"Good night, I love you," I whispered as I kissed her on the cheek. I just smiled as I watched her look confused about who to hug but in the end, she just squeezed herself into me.
"Should I stop the film?" Indigo asked. I immediately shook my head.
"I'll finish it," I said.
"You didn't watch it?" he asked.
"I've watched it but I still want to watch it again," I said so I could see his gaze on me. I just smiled before turning my eyes back to the television. Sometimes try to watch a film twice, the second time you'll watch it you will realize that people really mature through time. You'll see the film differently.
Indigo was going to turn it off when his movie ended and their names came out.
"Wait," I said so he turned to me. I secretly smiled when I saw his name on the screen. I just felt his eyes were still on me so I look at him again.
"Let's go to sleep. Good night, Mr. Producer, ”I said, smiling at him.
“Night,” he said.
I couldn’t help but smile when Raya wasn’t the only one he hug. I just don't know if he meant to hold me in his arms or if he just had a long hand so that's what happen. Whatever the reason is, my heart still can't help but rejoice. It was as if partying with loud music in it. Damn, I can't control it anymore.
