It was time for Alvin to return home as Kate arranged for his return waiting with anticipation smiling. Lisa and Annette were sitting with her calming her down.

Seconds turned minutes then hours yet he didn't show up. She called him severally which he didn't return.

Hours turned days, weeks, and before she knew it a month was gone. She had sleepless nights thinking of the possibility that he was out cheating again. She decided to send him a voice message.

Lisa was worried that she had to call Alvin to inform him about her lack of sleep and appetite.

He ended the call tossing his phone at a distance while taking a drag of his cigar.

He stood up suddenly, walking out of the clubhouse.

There was a turmoil within David, the pressure, the anticipation as he waited for Alvin to make a move. Anything, even a single reaction. Sometimes he thinks Alvin was a fool in love. How can a man forgive so easily? He punched the wall in anger.

Why can't he act as expected? Why does he keep her around? He tried the other girls but none could get to him as Kate does yet he won't hurt her. Should he make a move? Alvin is a coward' he thought creasing and increasing his brows.

Kate was in the bedroom sleeping with Alvin's photo frame beside her when he entered the house. He picked it from the bed and hung it up. He palmed himself watching her sleep thus moved fringes of hair from her face taking a closer look at her. She looked different. It was obvious she indeed hasn't been sleeping. He took off his shoes and held her to sleep. He needed it too.

They slept soundly that the maids didn't dare to wake them up. Kate tossed uncomfortably in bed turning her head here and there which had him opening his eyes to see beads of sweat on her forehead. He increased the air conditioner then wiped it off. She screamed out of her sleep sitting up with horrific eyes.

Alvin sat up leaning on the headboard staring at her. She reached for her phone with shaking hands' Alvin, God please let him be okay' she whispered dialing his number then turned her head wondering why it was ringing in the room then met with his piercing eyes shocked.

" Alvin? Is that you?" She ran into his arms holding him tight

" I missed you. I thought something happened to you. I had a terrible dream. The worst dream. I'm glad you're back home" she cupped his cheeks kissing him, he stilled as she licked and nibbled on his lips then took over, kissing the hell out of her with his hands roaming around her body.

She disengaged from him catching her breath while he drew her closer raining kisses on her collarbone while cupping her breast before she could relax in his arms, he was undressing her already having her with intense fervor thrusting deep till she could not moan due to tiredness then he let her go for the baby's sake thus proceeded in slipping out of bed for a shower giving her enough time to gather her strength.

Blinking her heavy lashes she could tell he was upset. She knew his charade will come to an end but didn't expect it to be so soon.

He returned to the room taking a seat on the bed with his bareback turned to her.

" Are you okay Alvin? I need some energy drink. I think I'm going to blackout from the long sex "she tells him as he stood up to get it for her then sat down.

" I want the truth, Kate. Nothing but the truth" Kate gulped the bottle of glucose water waiting for it.

" Is this child mine? She choked on her drink coughing tiredness while dabbing her mouth with a napkin then snaked her hands on his bareback then gave it a lingering kiss.

" It's your Alvin. I guess the cruising sex did it work. What's the matter? Are you having doubts? I will never lie to you like that" she coaxed ruffling his hair breathing on his ear.

" Is there something I need to know perhaps when I stayed away from home? Tell me Kate" he asked softly as she disengage from him fiddling with the hem of the quilt then stepped down from the bed.

" I asked you a question Kate" his voice was impatient now

She put a bathrobe on concealing her bump a little wiping the tears threatening to escape from her eyes.

' let me clean up first. I reek of sex" she tells him as he nods waiting for her to finish her business staring at the ring on his finger and chuckled sadly rubbing his palms together.

She entered her walk-in closet to get dressed and returned to his side.

" I'm listening."

" Is there something I need to know? Perhaps from the past when I was horrible to you" he tried to be calm he knew he had fallen for her again.

Kate shrugged cluelessly staring at his hurting eyes.

" No. What did you find out? that had him losing it grabbing her by the neck with bloodshot eyes.

" Perhaps you'll have to think again" her eyes widened holding his hands from strangling her then he released it as she coughed violently running out of the room. There was little she could do with a bump in its last trimester. She had a month to go.

So, Alvin caught her easily ' sit your ass down Kate' she shuddered at his voice though it wasn't loud it was laced with evident anger.

" You know what? I wanted to make this work between us. Give you a second chance to make it up to me. Give you a chance to be my wife and Simon's mother but no, you wanted something else, someone else, after all, I've done for you, Kate. Do you know what you've done? You fucking whore! He snapped as Kate's breathing increased he was quick enough to give her an inhaler. No, she wasn't escaping it.

Kate compressed the inhaler in her mouth continuously trying not to blackout. She knew this day will come. She wanted to die rather than get punished by him.

" You fucked someone else, Kate. You gave your body to a stranger" he snapped raising her chin as she held her neck thinking he was going to choke her again.

" I'm sorry. It happened a long time ago Alvin. It was a moment's weakness. I swear It happened once. A long time ago. I'm sorry Alvin. This baby is yours. I haven't cheated on you since we became intimate. I swear it on my mother's life" she sobbed as he released her chin.

" It's unforgivable. I'm going to make you pay Kate. You'll regret making that decision. This marriage is a total mess because of you. You did this Kate. Don't act like the victim when I am. The difference is that I'm the one with the money and power. Watch out because I won't spare you this time" he stated about to leave the room then stopped as she spoke.

' you wouldn't touch me, Alvin. You wouldn't come home to me. You wouldn't even let me touch you. What was I supposed to do? You introduced me to the world of sex and left me hanging. You slept with Melody next door to mine. You brought Cynthia home for the same reason. What was I supposed to do? I forgave you for treating me badly Alvin, you slapped me before now you're strangling me. Do you ever think of my feelings? I'm a human being with a heart. Blood flows through my vein. I've needs too. I hurt whenever you act like this. Where did I go wrong? All I did was fall in love with you and I still do. You were the one that pretended to love me and my family yet I let it go. What should I do to make you believe that I love you Alvin, not your money or fame or power? Should I die? She asked sobbing uncontrollably letting it all out then picked a knife from the fruit tray bringing it to her neck.

' Should I die to pay you for saving my mother's life? Life for life? Will you let me go then? Will you? She roared in anger angling it closer to her neck.

Alvin panicked trying to calm her down with his hands in the air urging her to drop it.

" Kate, you're carrying our baby. Don't do it, please. Simon will die too. Let's talk about this another day. Good girl. Give me the knife' he coerced taking steps closer to her slowly.

" Tell me what I did to you? Why are you doing this to me? Why do you hate me so much? Tell me" Alvin stood still realizing how much she was hurting and gave it a rest knowing she won't kill their son.

" Think about it, Kate. You betrayed me. Took my love for granted. You did this. Don't blame me. I tried. I did my best and you cheated on me. You fucking opened your legs to someone that wasn't me. An Italian. You're a whore. You're pathetic and you know it" she sobbed blinking the tears away and that was all he needed as he yanked the knife from her hands.

" Nice try Kate. I underestimated you " she slumped to the floor but he held her " try this again and I'll lock you up. Your life is about to get complicated starting with the lawyer. Don't try anything stupid" with that he left with the knife leaving a sobbing dejected Kate.
