Chapter 47: Chapter 47

Ivan was up as early as possible today. He had lots of work waiting for him at the office. His secretary made sure to remind him this morning. After making plans with Lucy this has to happen? He thought.

This meeting was important, if he doesn't go he'll loose alot of morning . He was already dressed in his work attire , Lucy stir in her sleep and her eyes flutters open.

" Where are you going to this early ?" She asked confused . She knew he doesn't go to work as early as this unless if that situation calls for it.

" I'm heading to the office " he stated watching what he says.

She furrowed her brows " I thought you said today you'll be with me throughout"

" Yes love I did, I got a message from my secretary reminding me about some investors I planned to have a meeting with today" he explained expecting her to understand but Lucy wasn't having it.

" Can't you just cancel the meeting or something , why does your secretary have to message you by this time. Didn't she know that you are with your woman. What such of nonsense is this Ivan. I've had my hope all up thinking we'll be together today. I even called the office to let them know that I wouldn't be coming and then this is happening right now ? "

He sighed " please understand where I'm coming from Lucy. I swear it, I didn't know this will happen. All I ever wanted was to be with you too but this needs to be sorted out first because if this passed, I won't have another opportunity"

She glared harshly " just go, go and meet your stupid secretary. This isn't the first time of you standing me up . I can manage "

He knew she was terribly mad " please Lucy don't be like this , you know I love you and will do anything for you. I just wish you'll understand where I'm coming from. This is business and you and I have the whole time to ourselves. We can prepare this for another time "

She rolled her eyes " like really? So I should miss work for the second time? Don't forget that my working place is not a place I can decide not to go anytime I wish. I have a boss that keeps scolding me all the time and I'm not ready for that now "

This was going to be a hard one . He stared at the time and I was almost past time , he needed to be at the office right this minute. He leaned in to peck her but she moved away from him . She was angry and he knows that .

" Always remember that I love you " he says before walking out of the room.

Lucy began to allow the water work. Thru flow down freely . She felt like the bad guy here and that's what irritates her the more.  She just wanted to be with her man , was that hard to ask for? She just wanted a nice time spent together .

Lucy got up after some minutes. She went into the bathroom to do some necessity. If she can't be with Ivan today so she see no reason why she should be indoor when she has alot of work waiting for her at the office. She finally got out of the bathroom fully showered. She had towel wrapped around her body.

She dried her skin and apply some lotion . When she was done , she went to pick out a dress from her drawer. She chose a white shirt and a black jeans trouser. Picking a sandals to match with it.

Lucy promised herself not to allow what happened affects her . She promise to be happy with or without Ivan.

Ivan was sad, the meeting didn't end well. He was sad that he should have just cancelled it and stay at home with Lucy, could this be regret? He thought to himself.

He groaned for the tenth time today, he wasn't happy at all. He picked up his car keys to go home.

After few minutes of driving he was home but found everywhere locked. Lucy must have gone to work . He caused it all.

He groaned in annoyance " this won't end well at all. Lucy won't let this pass by, this will definitely be one of their greatest fight if care isn't taken.

He tried calling her line but his call got forwarded and he knew this was trouble. He thought of visiting her at her work place but on a second thought, this might even increase her anger so he'll just give her space. He'll allow the anger does down first before approaching her.

Their lives has really been a rollercoaster, they were happy but then sadness always finds it way in. He punch the wall " Ahhh" frustrated out of his mind.

He unbuttoned his shirt and threw it across the room. His annoyance increases which let him to pick a bottle of alcohol, he was never an alcoholic but his present state needed one right now .

He twist the cover and threw it across the room. He take a sip directly from the bottle, his need for more increases . With every need he kept drinking until the liquid inside finishes. He wasn't satisfied so he went for another bottle.

This time around he couldn't finish the bottle, he was already drunk and didn't know what he was doing again. He was sat on the floor with bloodshot eyes. He retrieved his phone from his trousers pocket and then dialled the number he has been craving to call.

Lucy sat on her chair after her boss freed her . It's already more than four hours now since she's been at the office and Ivan didn't even think of calling. She was annoyed , really annoyed.

It shows in her face that she was unhappy, all she wanted was a happy home but why was this happening now . Their lives seems to be getting difficult each passing day. She wonders if they weren't meant to be together.

Her childhood friend Abby is now married and already have a stable life with a child involved but here she is still trying to figure out her life. She and Ivan haven't even talked about their future yet and this was already happening .

They are not even married yet. What if they were married, does this means that it will get worst? She was scared of the future. Is this the best time they talk about breaking up? It'll really hurt alot if that happens. She wiped a threatening tears and  and let out a sigh.

She picked her phone to call Ivan and they was when his call entered. She was half happy he called and half sad that the call came so late. She hesitated before picking the call.

" Hello" his voice came in slurred

She furrowed her brows confused by what happened to his voice. " Are you ok Ivan?"

" I'm not ok" he slurred out again.

This got her worried " are you drunk? "

" Me drunk? I'm not "

She knew he was drunk " Why Ivan, why ? "

" You caused it Lucy, you caused it. I wanted to forget my problems so I took a sip of alcohol and when a sip didn't work out I drank two whole bottle" he said but his voice wasn't straight at all.

She was angry " I'm coming home "

" No please don't come yet . Wait till you close, your boss is nasty, he'll scold you and I don't want that "

" Just shit up and have some water before I gets home " she said and hung the call. She rushed out of the office.

Her colleague surprised to see her rush out of the office . Some even thought she saw a ghost or something. Lucy went deaf ears to all the calls . All she needed right now is to see ivan.  Her man needs her and that's what matters to her.

She hail a Uber and told him her address. He took her to their house . Lucy paid the guy up and rushed to their apartment. She inserted her keys to open the door. She knew waiting for Ivan to open the door for her will be a waste of time since he's drunk.

She pushed the door in an entered. The sight she saw made her feel sick out of her mind. Ivan was in the middle of smoke , he was smoking and having a drink at the same time. He is never like this so what changes .

" Ivan"

He raised his head up and shot her a smile " you're here? "

She mentally rolled her eyes and rushed to get the cigarette and drink away from you " what are you doing Ivan?! This isn't you at all. Why settle for some smoke and alcohol. "

" I needed to forget that I hurt you"

She was mad " this is not the right way. Why would you think that this was the best decision for you. Facing the problem if the key and now you're not giving me the chance that there is hope after seeing all these "

He got up almost staggered " please don't leave me, I wouldn't be complete without you. Don't do this to me please . I love you so much"

She pushed him away " you need a cold bath" she said instead and dragged him to the bathroom like a child.

" Pull off your clothes" she said and Ivan wiggled his brows at her .

" Woo, someone is being naughty" he said making her face form a disgusting look.

" Stop this nonsense and do as I say"

He knew she was angry so he shut up. He pulled off his clothes while Lucy on the shower tap for his.

" Stand under the water and do what's necessary " she ordered and he knew better not to disobey.

" Ok"

Lucy went out of the bathroom. She rested her back on the bathroom door and slide down and began to son. This is something she has never saw in Ivan. He's never an alcoholic. Does that mean their relationship is turning into something toxic? If so does that mean they should end it before it escalate? So many thoughts kept on swirling in her head. She needed a break from all these.

When she heard the shower tap turned off. She quickly wiped her tears and went to sit on the bed having her back turned at the door.

Lucy have her eyes closed waiting for him to come out  . The door got open and Ivan walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist.

He didn't know what to say . He is a little sober now. He was glued to the floor not making any move.

Lucy opened her eyes and sucked in a deep breath. She stood up and turned around to face him " you're out "

" Yes I am"

." How do you feel now ?" She asked.

" A little sobered"

" Good" she said and sat back down on the bed. She didn't know what else to say and her annoyance was back.

Ivan went to the drawer and pick out something casual to wear. He need to plead with her . He felt stupid for doing what he did.

" I'm sorry" he said.

Lucy sunk in a deep breath not ready for any confrontation but on a second thought, it was either now or never.

"Why? Why ivan?" She got up an faced him " why are you trying to distroy yourself with alcohol"

" I'm  sorry" he said again

" Sorry won't solve this issue right now. This just shows that when next we fight you'll settle for alcohol so that you can feel good and not stand up like a man to resolve the issue " she said bitterly.

He rubbed his face " I know I shouldn't have gotten myself get drunk like that . I was scared that you might leave me, I was scared that you'll not want to have anything to do with me. Lucy I was scared "

" So you mean if I decided to break up with you, you'll run back to alcohol? "
