Five years later

Lucy rushed into the company holding two hefty files. She was late and know what that means, her boss won't let this pass by just like yesterday. This was caused by Ivan, that bastard removed her alarm battery so that it won't make a sound.

Imagine her reaction when she woke up only to see that it was 9am already. She was one hour late. She was so angry at him that she refused to prepare breakfast for him.

She rushed into her office and dropped down the files on her desk. She released a sigh she didn't know she was holding, her hands on her waist.

" What do I do now " she groaned.

Lucy has forgotten that she was to be having a meeting this morning together with some investors. Already they were in the meeting right now and definitely they are almost done.

She collapsed in her chair. Relaxing her back, she squeezed her forehead then the growling of her stomach could be heard. She didn't have anything for breakfast all because she was late and If she'd waited to prepare breakfast, she'd have been more late than she is now.

Just when she was about to start working, she heard a knock on her door.

" Come in" she said.

Susan peeped in then smiled brightly at Lucy " we thought you wouldn't come " she fully entered.

" Ofcourse I will" Lucy roller her eyes " Ivan caused it all"

" Wooo! That sexy champ of yours? " Susan wiggled her brows.

" Oh please stop, you don't know him at all"

Susan chuckled " no matter what he did I'm sure he has a reason for doing that and moreover, you love him no matter what."

True, she won't deny that she loves him.

" I can't wait for you two to get married,it'll really be so magical for you especially knowing that you started since in highschool" Susan gushed

" Sometime I feel as if you are the one in a relationship with Ivan, the way you keep fanning over him and stuff. You always side with him when you should be siding me "

" Girl calm down. You know I love you and I want the best for you always"

Lucy rolled her eyes " by the way how did the meeting go?"

" It went well actually but let me tell you something, the boss is really mad right now . He did stop asking after you"

" I know he will and I need to explain to him. I just hope I won't be given any penalty like before. The penalties I've been having this days is beginning to get too much. I need a break from that "

Susan giggled" what baffles me more is the fact that you have another option but you're not using it"

" What option ?" Lucy asked pretending as if she doesn't know what she was about to say.

" Ivan is the CEO of his company and you and I both know that he doesn't want you working here in this company. He has all the money to take care of you" she said.

Lucy rolled her eyes " I can't depend my whole life on a guy"

" But the guy in question is your boyfriend and soon to be husband for crying out loud" Susan imputed

" Please can we just change topic already to something about work"

They talked for some while before Susan finally excused herself to go to her office. She has several work waiting for her in the office.

Susan knew Lucy won't answer she's a lot to handle. Ivan is just a man in love and hates to see his girl waking up as early as possible just because she's going to work. Worst of it all is that the work doesn't pays alot. He's tried multiple times to convince her to stop working and if she wish to work then it should be in his company . Lucy gave him zero listening ears,she wanted to make a point especially to those girls out there fangirling on him.

She wanted to show them that she isn't with him for his money. Lucy wants to make money her own way but still there was nothing wrong working with your boyfriend but she doesn't care. All she want now is an independent life.

She groaned annoyed with the fact that Susan was right. There really was nothing wrong with working with Ivan. Right her in this company the pay is really low and doesn't even cover enough of her bills .

The same Ivan she doesn't want to work with is the same person that helps her out anytime she was cashless. She fought with him at first for helping behind her back but Ivan was adamant and she later on became used to it.

The Telecom on the desk rang . It was her boss. This goes nothing , she mentally said.

"Hello sir"

" Don't you hello me. How can you just come in so late? Do you know how we've been waiting for your arrival only to see you disappoint us. I never knew you like this Lucy"

" I'm sorry sir " it was best she doesn't argue with him if not the matter will prolong and she wasn't ready for any form of scolding right now . He's really good at scolding and that is the most annoying thing about Jamal her boss.

" Come to my office this instant " he said .

She knew this was definitely going to happen " But sir...

" Do as I say Lucy" he said.

She rolled her eyes " Alright sir . I'll be on my way now "

The call ended.

She released a sigh she didn't know she was holding. She finally made her way out of her office.

Ivan groaned as he stared at his phone.  Lucy wasn't picking his calls. He wanted to apologize but she isn't giving him any listening ears. Last night she came home late and tired which was why he did what he did to her.. He switched off the alarm so that she can have a sleep . She wakes up 6am everyday and it hurts him seeing her struggles .

He offered her a position in his company but knowing Melissa, she declined the offer all in the name of her independency. For crying out loud she was going to work for his and get paid and not walk into he company without doing anything .

This is one of the reason they argue all the time. This same topic is something she doesn't want to hear . She stops him before he can go far with it.

He stood up from his chair and tried calling her number again. It was not reachable. He was impatient and needed to talk to her so he walked out of his office to go visit her in her office.

Melissa sighed for the tenth time . Jamal has been going on and on about the same issue, her eyes were down staring at her feet. All she need right now is an escape from this annoying man,she thought.

" Melissa?! I hope you heard all I said?"

She was caught off guard " Yes sir , i heard all you said and I'm ready to change"

He have her a look " Better. Better don't try this the next time because I won't hesitate to give you a sack letter"

Lucy's heart skipped a bit " I promise it won't "

" Now you can go back to your office " "

" Ok sir"

" Make sure you finally the necessary and don't be seen roaming around ."

." I won't sir "

" Good for you"

She got dismissed so she left the office.

It's already five hours now since she came to work. Her phone has been vibrating in her bag but didn't check who it was earlier because of the amount of work in front of her . This time around the caller wasn't going to give up so the person kept calling

Lucy groaned then retrieved her phone from her bag. She checked the caller ID and behold it was Ivan . She rolled her eyes not ready to pick the call. She dropped the phone on her desk and continue what she was doing earlier. That was actually rude of her and she knows that . After a while she felt guilty so she called him back.

He didn't pick. She called again still no response. She knew he wasn't happy about the stunt she pull so this was payback. She got so frustrated out of her mind. Her day hasn't been the best at all. This is sure one of were worst day ever. She hates fighting with ivan.

The funniest of all is that that guy only wants what's best for her and here she is blaming him for doing that . He's been showing so much care which she should be glad but she didn't , instead she always backlash at him and the surprising of it all was, Ivan never shows his anger at her . He makes sure he approachs her after she calm down or at least gets her nerves back.

She was cut off by a knock. Thinking it was Susan she said " Stop acting like a visitor and come in" she didn't even look at the door. Her attention was on her phone, still trying to get through to Ivan.

The door got open and whoever was knocking entered.

Lucy tried the number again and then suddenly the same ringtone she was used to rang in her office. She snapped her head  to the door in the process only to receive the shock of her life.

Ivan was standing holding a bouquet of flowers and a box of sweet. She loves sweet.

" Ivan?" She was flabbergasted

" Babe" he said

She stood up from her seat and ran to hug him so tight " I've missed you alot Ivan. I'm deeply sorry for all I did in the morning. I know you care so much for me and I threw it in your face. Please forgive me.

He breath in her scent " you're forgiven"

She pulled back a bit to stare at him " why didn't you pick my call ?"

" Because I was on my way to your office already" he said.

She hit his arm " you got me so worried"

" Same way you got me worried too, You know "

She glared at him " that's so mean of you. You know I was only having my girl mood and that's all"

He chuckled and handed her the flower " take this " she took it from him with a wide smile and breath in their scent " they smell nice"

" Yeah they do just like you"

She blushed " aww"

He stepped forward to close the gab between them, putting his arms around her waist to draw her closer to him. Lucy kept the flower on her desk.

" You drive me crazy all the time Lucy, I don't ever want to see you sad or angry at me. I gets so worried that one day you'll tell me you are tired of this relationship and break it off with me " he told her .

She didn't know she's been making him have a second thought about this relationship " I'm so sorry love. I didn't mean to give you mixed feeling about us. I was just so angry at my self that you were right but I still didn't want to listen to you"

" Shush" he shut her up " Don't feel bad about that and I think it's time I also support whatever decision you make about yourself. I know it's going to be hard when that decision is something I don't like and I won't be able to say something about it. Just know that whenever you need help or an advice don't hesitate to tell me Lucy. I'm your man and I'll always lend you a listening ears. I love you so much Lucy that it hurts seeing us argue all the time about the same thing "

" I'm sorry" her eyes were clouded with tears " I'm deeply sorry"

He smiled " please don't cry need I remind you that you look ugly when you cry"

She punched him " I hate you".

" Oh Bebe, you love me " he was just too cocky for his own good but she still loves him like that .

He leaned in and claim her lips.
