Chapter 43: Chapter 43

Lucy's mom yawned loudly as she woke up from sleep. She smiles loving how cool the weather was today. She stared at the girls who were also sleeping beside her. She smiled because her heart was filled with content. All she can say right now is, she is happy.

She got up quietly not wanting to wake the girls up. She entered into the bathroom and did her business. Few minutes later she came out fully changed.

She decided to surprise the girls with a delicious morning breakfast and luckily for her she got to find out that spaghetti is Sarah's favorite same as her daughter's. She brought out all the ingredients and then began cooking..

Ivan felt groggy. He wasn't getting himself at all. He felt feverish and it wouldn't be nice if any form of sickness is about to set in. It wouldn't be nice at all because his football game is tomorrow and he had waited long for it.

He groaned again as he tried getting up from bed but failed miserably. He tried reaching out to Williams for help but shockingly for his friend didn't sleep home last night . He groaned in annoyance.

Ivan hated this feeling inside of him. He never expected this at all. Last night,he didn't show any sign of sickness but why was he now feeling this way now ? he thought to himself.

" Uhhhhh" he groaned. He finally succeeded in sitting upright " this is fucking stupid. What sort of plan changer is this? " he asked no one in particular.

He stood up and dragged himself to the bathroom. Hoping that maybe when he have a bath his body temperature will come down.

He shivered as the cold water hits his body. He used only five minutes to finish bathing before he then came out of the bathroom.

Quite alright, he felt a little relieve but not too much cos he can still manage himself. He checked the time and saw that it was almost time for his classes.

He went to the kitchen to have a cup of tea since there was nothing to eat. He drank down the hot tea and made sure to take a drug before leaving the house in haste . He didn't want to be late for classes.

Ivan saw some of his class mate on his way. They all decided to walk together to class.

" Man have you done the assignment?" One of his course mate asked

Ivan was confused. He didn't know of any assignments " what assignment?"

The guys looked at him like he was crazy " don't tell me you've forgotten the assignment Mr Robert gave us?"

His eyes widened as he remembered " I have totally forgotten. I can't believe this is happening to me right now . I haven't done it. Please can you help me with yours let me copy before we get to the class?"

The guy nodded " sure why not ?" He brought the book out and hand it over to ivan " here it is. When you're done please bring it to class for me"

Ivan nodded in understanding " I truly appreciate this. You just saved me "

" Don't mention man, what are friends for"

Ivan smiled gratefully and did a bro hand shake with him.

Lucy woke up to the smell of spaghetti. What she loves most. She stretched then followed by this happy smile on her face. She came down from bed and her eyes went straight to the kitchen where Sarah and mom were busy washing the plates....

" You guys refuse to wake me up,why?" She said still with that smile on her face.

" It's nothing much at all " her mom answered.

" I was also surprised when I woke up to this wonderful aroma" Sarah said.

" God mom! Your cooking alone is tantalizing not to even talk of tasting it"

" Stop pulling my legs girl. Just go into the bathroom and freshen up same with you too Sarah,I'll continue from here. You've done enough already" mom said

Sarah was about protesting but Lucy's mom wasn't having it at all.

" Do as I said girls"

They dragged themselves to the bathroom and together they had a bath, a quick one at that. All because they don't want the delicious delicacy mom prepared to get cold.

Lucy's mom wasn't surprised at all when she saw them just few seconds after they entered.

She chuckled " I just hope you took a clean bath. I wouldn't be surprised if the room start to smell later"

" Mom!..." Lucy growled out .

" Did you just growl at me ?"  She chuckled

" Sorry" Lucy apologize.

" Let's eat already. I'm famished to the core"

They all have their seat. The table was already well arranged by Lucy's mom. She served the two girls first before she served herself. Nothing looks better than having your food tasted by people who will appreciate before you even taste it. It gives this joy when people appreciate your food and always brings the ginger to cook all the time . Life is all about encouragement after all.....

" God!this taste heaven " Sarah couldn't help but say. It's been ages she last tasted this delicious meal. All the meal she's been eating isn't as delicious as this. This woman right in front of her can cook and she don't mind eating her food for the rest of her life. If only life was this simple.

" Can I have more please" Sarah asked as she was done with the one she was eating.

" Why not dear. Go ahead, go help yourself"

" Leave some for me please" Lucy begged .

"Sure"

James wished he wouldn't tell Abby what actually was wrong with him. He didn't want her to feel bad or sad. The result came out not exactly what he expected. When he went to the hospital yesterday , with all the hold up in the hospital,he was  finally  able to see the doctor. The doctor apologized for the delay and he asked James to have a seat.

The doctor first explain how this situation might looks bad to James. He told him about the diseases first then ride on to tell him how critical it was.

James was scared beyond words. The way the doctor tried all possible best to make him understand really makes him scared. He was shaking on his seat as the doctor went on and on about the whole thing.

Finally the result was presented to him and he was asked to open it. The moment he saw what was written in the paper, James almost  loose his balance. This wasn't what he expected he thought it was an appendix or something but it wasn't. It was something much more worse than that.

James couldn't control the tears as they flow freely down his face. He has never imagined himself with something like that ever in his life. If life was this simple, he would have chosen the kind of life he want to live in.

" Calm down James. Don't think too much about this. I'm giving you this assurance that you'll be fine once we start the treatment" the doctor adviced

" Doctor you don't expect me to keep calm when I just found out that my life is definitely coming to an end " James cried out .

" Stop saying those sentences please. This isn't going to end your life. Once we follow the treatment everything will be alright"

" You don't understand what I'm going through doctor. How would you feel if a report is presented to you stating that you have a kidney malfunctioning, how would you feel? After all we've all been hearing about those with the sickness and then later died " James yelled.

" You need to calm down young man. You're just being too hard on yourself. Your own case is different and I'm promising you that you'll survive it"

James couldn't hide his tears anymore. He allowed them to flow freely. Life is nothing without health. Health matters alot .

" I just don't want to die now Doctor. I'm still young and I have alot of people depending on me" James cried out " I have a girlfriend who loves me so much and telling her this would break her heart to pieces and I can't live with the fact that I hurt her"

The doctor stood up and went to stand beside James. He placed his hand on his shoulder and say " you'll fight this James. You'll win this battle"

That statement the doctor said stick to his head. That statement is what helped him to get his shit together.

He went to the bathroom to take his bath. He has more to life than all the worry. He promised himself not to  worry too much over his sickness. Worrying also cause some damages and he isn't ready to add another problem to his unsolved once.

He promised himself to always be himself and nothing more. He came out of his bathroom and went straight up to his wardrobe. He picked out one of his best shirt and smiled at how neat it was.

His phone vibrated on his nightstand. He quickly went to get it and the caller was non other than Abby , the love of his life. The woman that he want to marry, hopefully.

" Babe" Ivan said through the phone

" Hey"

" So what's up?"

Abby scoffed " so I can't just give my boyfriend a call"

He chuckled " I never said so"

" But that was what you're insinuating"

" I'm sorry love, you know I was only joking. Don't take it too serious please"

She snort " whatever"

" Please"

" Ok fine. I've heard you"

James chuckled "so what's new?"

" Nothing much. I just want to hear your voice" she said and James's heart melted at that. She does knows what to say to make him feel good.

" You're always a darling, you know that right ?".

Abby chuckles " you just trying to make my head swell"

James laughed " why is it that anytime I try to praise you, you always don't believe me ?"

" That's because I know you're only pulling my legs" she giggled

" Oh love, you just broke my heart. Here I thought you loved me so much " he joked

" Yes I do but I still  don't believe you " she tongue out at him.

" That's childishness"

" Whatever"

" Babe?" He turned serious.

" Yes?" She answered in concern " what is it ?"

" I have something I'd like to tell you" he said .

She furrowed her brows confused " shoot, I'm listening"

" It's about my test result" he begin

Abby's ears perked up at that " so tell me. I'm worried now "

" I have the result with me now "...

" That's good right ? So what does it say?"

"I_i_i

" Calm down James. We're in this together and whatever it may be just know that I'll still be right here with you"

He smiled with admiration. She always amazes him all the time .

" So go on, tell me " she encouraged.

" I have kidney problem..."

Abby tried her best to keep calm " so what did the doctor say about it"

" He said it's something I shouldn't be scared of . He said it isn't critical yet and drugs will heal it. It hasn't reached the stage of going for an operation" he explained.

" That's a good thing right?"

James nodded but remembered that she can't see him " yes it is"

" So what was the doctor's advice?" She asked

" Well he said all I need is time and drugs to heal"

" What did he say about this constant pain you feel?"

" Yes, he prescribed some drugs to use. They're more powerful than the ones they gave me before"

" Okay. Tell me how you feel James, do you feel ok taking all this in?" She asked in concern.

" I'm managing love. I know I'll heal with time"

" I really hope so" she sighed.

" So let's just keep praying for things to fall into place"

"Don't think too much about it. I wish I'm there with you, it's really hard for me to be calm knowing well that you're sick. I just want to come home already. I miss you all . I miss you the most " she broke down in tears

" I miss you more than you can imagine. Don't you worry we have just few months left"

" It feels like years"
