Chapter 14: Chapter 14

He is so annoying. Anyways,i followed him inside and behold the hall was magnificent. I really don't know which word can describe it except that.

So many people came, the men wore their well ironed  suit ,some wore their baban Riga while the ladies wore  classy dress. From the exterior and the interior setting of the hall, one would quickly grab that this event is for the rich. I'm lucky to be invited, all thanks to my mom who works for the company if not I wouldn't be opportuned.

I came out of my rivry and follow Ivan's step to wherever it is he is taking me.

" we've come to our stop now " said Ivan as he stopped walking. " over there is your mom" and with that he left. rude much

I shrugged off his rude attitude and walk to meet mom who was standing and talking with two other ladies. I walk to them and tap mom at the back since her back was facing me. She turn and smiled brightly at me.

" you're finally here" she said " come let me introduce you to my friends " she drag me beside her. I greeted them two ladies before mom could introduce us, that seems like the right thing to do.

" here is my daughter, Lucy" she introduced, the two women smile at me in appreciation.

" such a beautiful and lovely young lady" one of them said.

" she must be around my son, Ivan's mate" the other lady said with a smile

Wait which Ivan are they talking about, don't tell me this woman is Ivan's  mother!!. She is nothing like Ivan.

" yes she is his mate" mom answered

" which school do you attend ? " the lady or should I say Ivan's mom ask.

" prestige high school "

She looks surprised " that's the same school Ivan goes to. Wait for a sec, I'm sure you two knew each other from school? "

" yes, we do" I answered calmly

" that's perfect then. I've always wanted to meet one of his school mate and I can see that today is my lucky day after all. Where did he run off to after bringing you?" she asked while looking around

" he just pointed where mom was to me and zoom off. I don't really know where he went to. " I explained while she nodded.

" there he is" she pointed  immediately she caught sight of him.

" ivan" she called out. He immediately turn at the call of his name. She wave him over and he, swaggered to us.

" you silly boy, how can you just leave this pretty lady on her own" scolded his mom

He secretly glare at me when they weren't looking " I'm sorry mom, I quickly went to meet some friends of mine"

She shot him a look that says 'isn't she a friend too'

" now, take her with you and make her comfortable like the son of the organizer you are . " she held my hand and put it in his.

Mom just stood chuckling at the situation. It just so funny the way Ivan's mom scolded him.

" now get moving " in a firm voice, behind that tone there was a hint of a teasing smile in it.

Together, we walk inside the crowd of people . When we got far from his mom, he let go of my hand.

" I wonder how you charm her so quickly "

" what are you trying to insinuate now" I asked with a raised brow.

" whatever, just follow my lead" with that he direct me to some group of people around his age and I don't think they go to our school

" look who we have here" one of the guys said as he look at me up and down in appreciation.

The rest also turn to us. They were a member of four guys and three girls .

" she is a friend from school " Ivan introduced, does that mean he considers me his friend. Well, that's new.

" nice having you here" the girls chorus and pull me to their side.

We actually patch up quickly. They look like a bunch of nice people. I actually enjoyed myself with of without Ivan coz his friends were enough to make my day.

Class was so boring today for me coz I kept zoning off to sleep in class all thanks to the late night party yesterday. The worst part was, my partner in crime wasn't in school and I wonder why. ,

I brought out my phone from my pant pocket to give her a call. I walked towards the lunch room as I called her and she pick up on the second ring.

" hey girly, whats up with you" i asked

" i  accompanied mom to the hospital, the sickness really got to her this morning " she explained.

Oh God, what could have happened to her mom. I just pray it's something minor. Abby's mom is like a second mother to me and it would pain me if something bad happened to her.

" and you didn't  think of calling to tell me"

" I'm so sorry, it a dime minutes thing. I didn't expect the sickness to worsen like that. But I'm happy now coz she is already feeling better, so don't fret yourself "

" your mom knows about it too, I think she doesn't want you to bother. But I promise, my mom is already feeling better"

" OK then, but I'm coming over to your house when classes is over" I said in a firm voice.

She sighed and said " OK then I'd be expecting "

After that I hanged up and walked to the old lady serving ,to get my food. I ordered for fries and orange juice . I paid  money for the food and I went to take my seat.

" hello, is this seat taken?" asked a soft voice.

I looked up to see the owner of the voice and was met with a brown eyes waiting for my answer. She was a petite girl with  fair skin that match her brown eyes.

" no, you can have it" I answered her question and she smiled then sat on the bench.

" by the way, I'm laila" she brought out her right hand for a hand shake.

" I'm lucy"  I shook her hand.

" I can see you're new around here, coz I haven't seen you before" I said while She nod

" yes you're right, my family moved from Abuja coz my mom decided for a change of  environment." . What could have happened that made them come to this busy state  of ours, I wondered.

" OK, nice meeting you then and welcome to our school " I said in a friendly way.

" nice meeting you too"

" so, where are your friends coz I know someone like you must have two or many. You don't look like the school loner. "  She is too straight forward.

" yes I have a friend actually, but she isn't in school today"

" ok" she nodded in  understanding

We continued gisting as we ate our lunch. She told me about her younger sister and brother. She seems nice though but she's a chatterbox , that ,I can tell from the way she keeps talking.

Something caught her attention from where she was sitting, so I look at where or should I say rather, who she was looking at. She was looking at the popular's table.

"Who is the guy over there." she pointed at the person she was talking about  and behold it was... Ivan.

I decide to seem oblivious, so she asked again.

" well, that is Ivan, he is among the popular people in this school. But a piece of advice, stay away from him" I warned.

She looked at me in a confused way and said " but he doesn't look like a bad guy  ."

I only shrugged my shoulders in response while she kept looking at him like a love sick puppy. Why can't she stop It already.

" he is so handsome " she said in a dreamy voice.

I think Ivan noticed her stares coz he turn and winked at her and Laila squealed at that. I felt like choking her already .

" Did you see that, he winked at me and you said he is a bad guy" she happily said to me.

" I didn't say he is a bad guy, I only said you should  be careful, don't say I didn't warn you"

" well, I've heard you" she said in a singing voice.

I only rolled my eyes at her. The bell  rang, so we quickly pack our things as we made our way to class.

I was terribly jealous of her right now. I'm over the idea of denial, I like Ivan. Yes, I like him and don't call me crazy. It just happened over night. I guess the party yesterday actually did wonders coz I just can't stop thinking about him after the party.
