- Anne's POV -

"Who is Atlas?" He asked and I was speechless, I don't know how to answer him.

He truly heard me that night when I was talking with Gabriella about him... about the man I love but he doesn't know it was him. I intentionally said Atlas so he wouldn't know that it was really him.

I was about to say a word when suddenly, gunshots were heard in the distance right at the woods. In a swift motion he was already covering me in an embrace that made my heart beat so fast and loud, it was uncontrollable that for a moment my mind turned blank. All that I was feeling was his closed presence... his enticing scent and warm protective embrace.

This was the moment that we have been the closest. I was shocked by his act and not with the gunshots anymore. When the gunshots stopped he moved back putting a small distance between us.

"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly as he looked intensely at me.

I was stunned by his reaction right now, it doesn't seem to be the Cyrus Roaster I know. He looks concerned and his eyes are not cold but rather worried.

I couldn't be able to answer because I can't believe what I am seeing right now. My heart is on a battlefield that even with the darkness of the surroundings, I could clearly see his handsome worried face.

Suddenly, I was out of daze when he held my hand and quickly dragged me towards the entrance hall. "I knew this would happen, you shouldn't have gone here." His voice was now mad.

But instead of being scared of him, I felt glad that he cared for me this much... it seemed as if I could feel his love for me and it is more than I expected from him... from Alpha Cyrus Roaster.

When we reached the entrance hall, we could hear yelling and screaming in front.

"Oh shit!" Cyrus cursed as he tried to look around somewhere for safety.

"Leave me here, I have to find my friends." I said to him and I am serious despite him looking frustrated.

"No, I have to keep you safe. This is dangerous, nerd." He said looking pissed as he dragged me again to look for a hiding spot.

I really wanted to look for Gabriella and Maive to make sure they are safe, they are also the reason why I came to this event despite the danger I knew that would possibly come which is happening right now. But with the look on Cyrus' face, it seemed like I had to follow him because he won't leave until he is reassured.

"Where are we going?" I asked when he kept dragging me in the hallway.

I didn't know there was a hallway inside the event hall. He still didn't let go of my hand as we walked quickly but I could feel him being tense. He didn't answer my question as he just kept on dragging me until we reached the backstage, is it the backstage?

There was a small room in there and he opened it as he pushed me inside, "Stay here, I'll be back. Okay nerd? Don't go somewhere, in case I can't be back and something goes wrong. Use the other door, do you see that?" He pointed behind me and I looked at it, there was really a door in there. "That door will lead you outside the back of the hall, escape this place and go home." He ordered and without waiting for my response, he was about to close the door, however, I stopped him.

He looked at me in confusion but before he asked me about it... I did not think anymore and held his collar as I pulled him down for a kiss. It was just a peck but I stayed my lips for seconds, he didn't answer as he stiffened from what I did in surprise. I broke from the kiss and then faced him, I couldn't decipher what was in his mind as he still looked at me with surprise which literally amused me. My heart was screaming inside, my wolf was jumping in joy... I really couldn't help myself but fall deeper on him.

"Come back to me," I was confused by what came into my mouth as I let go of his collar. I am surely blushing right now and damn, he's really handsome, I won't get tired of staring at him.

He must have been out of surprise when he cleared his throat and nodded, he was red. Damn, that was so cute!

He closed the door without a word and walked away, while I was left in this small room. I'm surely safe here, however, I couldn't be reassured when I knew that my friends were out there. I have to save them, I need to get them here, they will also be safe in this room.

I don't know how Cyrus discovered this but that would be the least I should be thinking right now, there are many important matters I have to do.

After a moment, I opened the door which headed inside the hall to look for my friends. I'm sorry Cyrus, but I couldn't just sit and do nothing when my friends and him were in danger.

Good thing that I chose a dress that would make me comfortably move, I immediately took the small silencer gun out of its pocket behind my thigh, I intentionally carried a weapon with me in case this would happen. Cyrus has probably gone somewhere to know what was happening and when I saw the hallway clear, I ran and started searching for my friends.

"Dammit!" I was shocked to see that vampires were already inside the hall, so that is why I heard screaming in front of the hall earlier.

But where are the Royals then? Mr. Astrid, father of Daxton must have already escaped the place.

I looked around and gladly I saw a stair towards the top veranda inside here. The place where the spotlights were put, a good spot to search for my friends.

However, while I was climbing the stairs a sudden cold hand gripped my leg.
