- Maive's POV -

We are cornered by vampires and I don't understand why they are here against us when a lot of students are running free around.

Fear covers me, is this the end of us? Why did vampires get here? How did they get here? What do they want with us? I have so many questions in mind but my heart is beating so loud in nervousness and fear. I still wanted to live despite everything bad that happened to my life. I fear for myself, I fought hard to live and now that I am living my life with the people who care for me, these vampires would dare to stop it. The hell would they!

"Give us the woman and nobody will get hurt," said one of the vampires in front of us.

Tobias suddenly extended his arm, trying to cover me from them. When I looked at him, his expression changed. He looked completely angry now.

Wait, are they here for me? What do they want from me? I have nothing to give them, I have no money nor a family except for the people who adopted me.

"There's no way I'll let that happen," Tobias said as he removed his coat and folded his long sleeves. He was ready to fight and it seemed like he had an idea why these vampires wanted me. But why me? Damn it, it was as if everything had mixed up and I am so confused at the same time scared.

My heart raced as vampires smirked and headed towards us. They were three, there's no way Tobias would be able to defeat them.

"Once they go after me, go inside the car." Tobias whispered and it broke my heart.

My tears began to fall, I am not dumb not to know that Tobias is going to sacrifice himself for me to get away. Fuck, Tobias.

"No..." I won't leave him, he is my best friend, the person who has been with me in good and in bad times. I can't let anything happen to Tobias... I cannot let them hurt Tobias without them hurting me. I cannot be selfish and leave my friend to death.

"Don't be stubborn, Maive," he said softly. I could see the worry in his face and a glimpse of... fear.

I was terrified when one of the vampires lunged to attack Tobias that I was stunned on my spot, unable to move. Dammit, I've being fucking dumb right now!

With the strength that Tobias had he was able to punch the vampire that made the vampire jump backward. "Run Maive!" Tobias yelled at me.

But I wanted to help him, so I was put into a crisis. Two of the vampires also began to attack him all at once. Tobias is a great fighter, I know that back in our village... but with the three of them attacking him, I don't think that would be a good match.

How can I help him when I am wearing this gown that restricts my movements? Dammit!

Tobias shifted into his wolf form when he couldn't handle the attacks from the vampires, one that I have only seen now... I was at awe to see how he looks with golden brown fur, it was stunning. Damn, what am I thinking at this crucial moment? He started fighting with the vampires and all I could do is to watch him do that. I couldn't move... not when it makes me remember my father and how he was killed.

Tobias was able to bring down one of the vampires and bite its head until it was separated on the body. I put my hands on my mouth, unable to believe what I see, is this really Tobias? He... he looks ruthlessly a monster.

I gathered myself when I saw the two vampires turned so mad the moment their comrade died. I looked around and saw a big wooden stick. I immediately carried my gown up so I could move easily and took the wooden stick.

When I looked back to Tobias, suddenly, the memories from the horrible night back then became more vivid when I saw one of the vampires scratched Tobias's skin using his sharp nails. Tobias began to bleed after that. Still, he tried to fight them. He was able to devour the arm of the vampire with long hair. But that made the vampires even angrier, resulting in a more aggressive attack which Tobias could not avoid.

I hold tightly to the wooden stick trying to find the right time to attack on my own. When I saw one of the vampires about to lunge on Tobias again, I moved and was about to hit that vampire, however, I stopped when I felt someone gripping my arms.

I looked behind me to see another vampire, I was shocked, unable to speak as he was smiling creepily while watching those two vampires attacking Tobias.

"Let go of me!" I yelled the moment I got a hold of myself.

"You have nowhere to go, woman." He said with a creepy voice.

Goosebumps appeared on me and I tried struggling to get away, however, I didn't know that they were stronger than I expected they would be. They are fucking too strong to budge.

I only cried while watching Tobias getting beaten, "Stop it! Please!" I yelled while struggling.

Not minutes after, I found Tobias getting more blood coming from his body. He is tired, I could see it in his eyes. Even then, as much as I wanted to run towards him, I couldn't move my body as I was held by a vampire. As Tobias was beaten, the memories from the past kept on flashing inside my head and I couldn't help or do anything but cry. I have thought that I am healed from that night, but seeing the same scenario makes my knees tremble again... like it did that night.

"Tobias!" I screamed when I saw one of them about to dig his nails on his back... but that did not do anything.

In the end, Tobias was on the ground lying... he... he was coughing blood. Tears welled up from my eyes as sobs filled my mouth.

"S-stop..."

That was the last word I could say before I felt a handkerchief covering my nose... and everything went black.
