Chapter 69: Chapter 69

- Maive's POV -

The kiss didn't last long when he broke from it and looked me in the eyes. My heart is still heavy and I couldn't help the small sobs left, coming out from my mouth but I was calmer than earlier.

It felt like he cured the pain inside me by his kiss. I am still full of confusion and doubts, I don't know what to say or what to do. I wanted to push him away but my heart wouldn't because all it had was him... my heart and my mind was filled with this man, even my soul was reacting as if it was his.

He let go of me and we went into complete silence. My tears also have stopped falling. The fresh air that I was eager to have earlier is probably taking effect, as my chest does not feel much tighten... or it was because Daxton is here trying to mend some shattered parts of me... which he is responsible for.

I wanted to say a word, I wanted to ask questions of why he is doing this to me. I truly wanted to speak but silence enveloped the ambiance as if it is better than talking. His presence now is just enough for me to be comforted and I want nothing more than this.

I hold on to the railings tightly while looking at the garden. However, not minutes after, gunshots reached my ears. Out of shock, I covered my ear. Daxton was also shocked to hear those gunshots. I felt his hand gripping my wrist, it was warm but I could see the tension within him. I wasn't able to ask as he started pulling me towards the entrance of the hall.

We stopped and he quickly removed his coat and covered it in my body. He then looked at me in the eye, "Go inside."

It was an order and I can't go against it, however, I grabbed his arm when I saw him leaving. He is definitely going to the area where the gunshots were heard. I shook my head, trying to stop him from going there but, when he looked at me, his eyes had completely turned into crimson red.

Those eyes just made me let go of his arm... as if it was on fire and no one could stop him from what he was about to do.

"I'll be back, I promise." he assured me. My heart just suddenly felt comforted from the fear and nervousness I felt for him because of his promise.

And in just a snap, I found him running as fast as he could. It actually looked like a flash that surprised me, I almost did not see him running and I nearly forgot that he's a werewolf. I could only hope that it was nothing serious... I hope he won't get hurt.

I immediately headed inside the hall with my heart beating so fast from mixed emotions. When I got inside, I saw the students also rattled from the gunshots. Some of them were starting to run out of the place.

I was confused by then, the outside is dangerous but why would these students head outside? Some bumped on me that is why I moved aside while still going close to the center.

Just as I thought that this place would be safe, I witnessed some men revealing their sharp fangs and long nails.

Fuck, are those vampires? I have never seen vampires who have transformed to their real features.

Those vampires, then, began attacking the students that got on their way. I couldn't move, seeing everyone rushing out of the place. Some students have also turned into their wolf form, trying to combat the vampires attacking them... there... There was blood everywhere.

I couldn't let fear dominate me as I composed myself and looked around to find Anne and Gabriella, however, they were not on the table where we sat earlier. Have they gone out now?

Vampires entering the hall became more numerous. There were screams that enveloped the hall but all I could think of was to find my friends. I couldn't understand why this is happening.

What do they want? And how did they get here? Damn it, where are my friends? Were they taken? Attacked? Or killed? Oh gosh, I can't think right.

Suddenly, I felt a grip on my hand. I immediately looked at it and saw Tobias with sweat around him, I could feel weary in his system. He was running and pulling me together with him to get out of the place where I entered earlier.

I ran as well because of the force as he dragged me, but I couldn't help but be worried for my friends.

"Tobias... we have to look for Anne and Gabriella," I said while he was pulling me.

Tobias did not hear me. Or he has heard me but did not let me do as I wish. He continued running and I just found ourselves in the parking lot. There were a lot of students here, all of them were finding their cars for them to be able to leave the place. Tobias did too... but with numerous cars and a wide parking lot, it would be a little difficult to get where the car was parked.

"T-Tobias..." I called him as he was too busy walking towards the area where his car was parked. He is not listening to me. He is not even looking at me.

"M-My friends are still there, Tobias," I called him once again while panting from the running we made.

This time, he looked at me and his face was agitated. "I'll drive you out of this place. I need you to be safe first."

I shook my head, "I can't leave my friends here."

Damn, I can't be selfish at this moment.

He held my hands and I could feel it trembling, "I just need you to be safe, Maive. I will go find them... your safety comes first, okay?"

I nodded, a little at ease when I heard that he would find them. I trusted Tobias so for now I have to believe in him.

In the distance as we ran, I got a glimpse of the car that we had rode to get here. Tobias and I immediately headed there. However, to our surprise, two vampires appeared in front of us and one behind us... we are cornered. That is when goosebumps get on me, fear dominates and I don't know what to do.

Tobias seemed to be rattled.

Fuck. What should I do?
