Chapter 81: Chapter 81
My mom looked at me with such a smile. She lifted her hand and caressed my face. “You’ve grown up,” she mumbled.
I suddenly lowered my gaze, playing with my fingers. “I’m… I’m sorry mom,” I said out of nowhere. “I’m for leaving without even telling all of you properly.”
I felt her hand touch my chin and gently pushed it upward. She then kissed me on my forehead.
“Forgiven,” she started. “We don’t know why you decided to do that but we understand you. We thought that maybe you needed time to sort your mind out,” she said.
I gently squeezed her hands. “Thank you, mom,” I responded before hugging her. She did the same and lightly patted my back.
After a while she broke off from the hug. “Daeshaia… her eyes, am I thinking it right?” My mom asked to which I stiffened.
I shut my eyes hard. “Yes,” I shortly said. “She’s Daevon’s child,” I whispered and opened my eyes.
My mom narrowly smiled at me. “Don’t worry, I won’t ask anymore. I’ll just wait together with your dad until you’re ready to tell us. We also won’t do anything with whatever you guys decide,” my mom reassured me.
I smiled and just hugged her again.
“By the way, Cassandra’s mom called. Is it true that you’ll be working in her company again?”
I distanced myself before answering her.
“Yeah, for the time being, I’ll be replacing Cassandra yet again,” I answered.
My mom then looked at me as if she wanted to tell me something but chose not to.
I creased my forehead, curiously looking at her.
“What is it Mom?” I asked.
She heaved a deep sigh and opened her mouth.
“There’s a big possibility that your paths will cross again, Ayesha,” my mom pointed out that made me stop for a moment. She stared at me, judging if I could handle it or not.
“Daevon is the one handling Andrei’s company and there currently merged together,” mom added.
I smiled bitterly to myself.
“It’s okay, mom. Whatever happened between the two us… it’s already in the past,” I said.
After that conversation, she made her way back inside the house and joined my dad and my daughter together.
It’s not like every day he’ll come to Cassandra’s company, right? I’ll just hide or escape whenever he comes—Wait.
Why the hell would I escape?!
That’s right, so what if he’s in the same company? It’s been four years so probably, I don’t even matter to him anymore.
“Mommy.”
I was taken aback when I heard my beautiful child’s voice. She was tagging on my clothe and so I carried her in my arms and gently laid her on my lap.
“How’s your play with grandpa?” I asked. She automatically smiled and hugged herself.
“It’s fun but I miss my dolls, mommy,” she said and pouted.
I already donated all of her toys into charity before we went home because of how much stuff I would take. I plan to buy her new things and toys for her here in the Philippines.
A gentle smile crept into my face as I squeezed her nose. Her skin is light and fair, her black straight hair reached until her shoulder, her lips and cheeks flushed red naturally and her eyes… it was the same dark gray eyes.
“Tomorrow, mommy will buy you new toys,” I said which immediately made her smile.
“Barbies, mommy? As in with –s?” she asked excitedly. I nodded and kissed her on her forehead before wrapping my arms to embrace her.
After a while, I noticed her stop talking and so I peeked to look at her. Her eyes were gapingly looking at me while biting her lower lip.
“Is something wrong?” I asked.
She hesitantly looked at me before averting her eyes.
It felt like suddenly something touched my heart, looking at how she wanted to tell me something.
“Will daddy visit me now, mommy? We’re not far from him anymore.” A hint of hope glimmered in my daughter’s eye.
I forced myself to smile. It feels like something in my throat was stuck and I couldn’t remove it. I don’t know what to tell her. I don’t want her to be hurt if ever Daevon doesn’t accept her.
After a while, I spoke.
“I’ll talk to him, honey. Can you wait for it?” I asked.
She turned to look at me with such excitement in her face. She nodded her head enthusiastically; looking forward to the idea before I embraced her tightly in my arms and kissed her hair.
I'm scared in a lot of different things.
What if he accepts his child but then thought of, removing her from my grasps because he still thinks something happened between Ivann and I?
I shut my eyes tight.
I can't bear to lose my daughter.
