Chapter 91: Chapter 91

"Flora, are you sure you can handle work like this?" Linda asked worriedly. Most people stayed at home and were taken care of when they were pregnant, but she came to work!?

"I'm not that delicate. Babies born to delicate mothers aren't healthy. I hope this one grows up quickly and starts earning money to support the family," Flora chuckled, feeling much calmer. When she thought about it, there wasn't anything that big of a deal, and soon she would have a companion! No more being all alone, how great!

"Flora, try not to push yourself too much. Your health is everything. If you're short on money, just ask Linda for a loan. She's been cozying up to a rich guy lately, so money won't be a problem," Chloe said seriously.

"Chloe!" Linda shouted at her with hands on her hips. "How many times have I told you? He's my cousin, whom I've known since last year. It's not what you're thinking. A rich guy?"

"Usually, when cousins have ambiguous relationships, they end up becoming boyfriend and girlfriend," Chloe hummed dismissively.

Flora's heart skipped a beat as she suddenly remembered Henry. She and Henry had always referred to each other as siblings in front of their classmates. But privately, they considered themselves boyfriend and girlfriend. She had always been like a child, selfishly seeking to be loved and valued by Henry. And she hadn't given anything in return!

She thought of him again. Why did she always think of him? Flora shook her head and followed the two arguing women toward the guest room department.

At the office entrance, Mark seemed to have been waiting for a while. His eyes were filled with tenderness as he gazed at Chloe.

"Welcome, Mr. Mark, to the guest room department. I'll go and busy myself now," Linda said with a cheerful smile before turning to focus on her work.

Flora forced a dry laugh and was about to leave.

"Irma Brown!" Mark suddenly called her back.

Flora turned around, puzzled, and asked, "Is there something you need, Mr. Mark?"

"Mr. Kevin wants you to come to his room. From now on, be more proactive. Report directly to Mr. Kevin when you come to work," Mark said in a relatively gentle tone.

Flora let out a sigh, and her mood instantly plummeted. Helplessly, she asked, "Why is he in such a hurry to see me? Please don't let there be another surprise waiting for me. I can't handle such a shock right now!"

"I guess he wants you to bring him the dress," Mark replied.

As soon as he finished speaking, Flora screamed, "Oh my god! The dress?! I... I forgot to order it!" That day, she had completely forgotten about it, and these past two days, she had taken a leave of absence. Oh no!

Regardless, she needed to go up and confess! With a dejected look on her face, Flora turned and walked towards the elevator.

After Flora left, Chloe glanced at Mark and said, "Alright, now that you've given the notification, you can leave." Then she turned and walked into the office.

"I didn't come here to inform Irma about this matter, I came to talk to you about something," Mark followed her inside, his voice soft. Finding someone wasn't a task that required his attention, he just happened to be there and mentioned it.

"Speak then, what do you need from me?" Chloe turned around, staring at him.

"I want you to accompany me back to City A this weekend," Mark fixed his gaze on her, his face full of anticipation.

Chloe was momentarily taken aback and asked, puzzled, "You want me to accompany you home? Mark, have you lost your mind? You should ask Alma to accompany you, not me!"

"You know my mom only recognizes you as her future daughter-in-law. She's very ill now and she wishes... to see you one last time," Mark said, a trace of sadness flickering in his eyes, causing Chloe's heart to skip a beat.

"Auntie is sick again?" Chloe instinctively asked, thinking of the elderly woman who had always been kind to her. Worry filled her heart, and for a moment, she forgot about the grievances between her and Mark.

Mark nodded slightly, took a deep breath, and gazed at her, "That's why I hope you can accompany me home and make her happy. It's been so long since she last saw you, and she misses you."

Chloe was silent for a few seconds. When she looked up, her face was no longer filled with worry. With her usual coldness, she said, "You're already married to Miss Alma and have a child. You can't hide it from Auntie forever. So, I suggest you go home with your wife and son!"

Having said that, Chloe took the records sheet and turned to walk towards the door, leaving behind one last remark, "Alright, I have work to do. Whether you decide to leave or stay, it's up to you." As she left, she slammed the door, leaving a bewildered Mark standing there, unsure of what to do.

Taking a deep breath, Chloe's heart was filled with a mixture of emotions, both touched and saddened. Originally, she could have lived happily with Mark and had a mother-in-law who loved her just like her mother had. Who would have known...

Chloe's thoughts were interrupted by a figure in front of her. She paused for a moment and asked, "Flora, didn't you go to Mr. Kevin's office? Why are you here? Who sent you to accompany Abner at the elevator?"

Abner, who was serving at the elevator entrance, chuckled and said, "I was wondering the same thing. How did we suddenly get an extra companion here today?"

Flora looked at Chloe, her face still drooping as if she had been bullied, and innocently replied, "I didn't dare to go, Chloe. Please help me out. I'm afraid of that place. Maybe I should take another day off!"

"You have such a good memory. It serves you right! Get in there!" Chloe saw that the elevator had just stopped and forcefully pushed her inside.
