Chapter 83: Chapter 83
Inside the Smith Family mansion, a well-dressed man walked with steady steps toward Maxwell's study. After a few knocks on the door, he pushed it open and walked in.
Standing in front of Maxwell who was busy working, he respectfully spoke, "Big Young Master, Kevin Davis' information has been investigated. Do you want to review it now?"
The man spoke cautiously. Every time he appeared in front of Maxwell, he was always serious. Today, unexpectedly, there was an unusual expression on his face.
"Darren, did Flora arrive at work on time today?" Maxwell didn't answer his question but instead asked about Flora.
Darren nodded, "Yes, she went in, and everything seemed normal."
Hearing his words, a moment of relief washed over Maxwell.
If she went to work, that meant she hadn't been arrested. For some reason, he was strangely worried that she might end up being thrown into jail. Perhaps it was because she had foolishly returned to the hotel for his sake and ended up getting into so much trouble!
Maxwell reached out his hand, signaling for Darren to give him Kevin's information. Darren took a few steps forward, hesitated for a moment, then handed the documents to Maxwell and returned to his original position.
Maxwell flipped through the information and started to read it attentively. Kevin Davis! The tenth-generation heir of the Davis family, whose business spanned over a dozen industries, excelling in every single one of them!
Maxwell knew that the Davis family had a big business, but he didn't expect it to be of this magnitude. However, he couldn't understand why Mrs. Davis and her son chose to return to the United States, considering that the Davis family's business extended to multiple countries. This puzzled him!
Kevin Davis, 29 years old, is the only son of the family. Low-key and unpredictable, it was difficult to gauge his personality...
A cold smile curled up at the corner of Maxwell's mouth. As he turned to the last page, his smile instantly froze on his face. Even though Darren deliberately hid Kevin's photo at the very bottom, Maxwell still saw it at a glance!
That face in the photo was indeed wild and unruly! Under his casual, medium-length light brown hair, that face... it was the same as his own! Maxwell was stunned! The astonishment he had never experienced before was evident on his handsome face!
Then, he raised his head in a daze and stared at the serious-faced Darren, "Are you sure this is Kevin Davis?"
"Positive," Darren solemnly said, "Big Young Master, I was also surprised when I first saw it, so I went to the Moonlight Hotel where he was staying to investigate. I saw him with my own eyes, and he is indeed the person in the photo."
Maxwell's hand holding the documents began to tremble slightly. His gaze shifted down and landed on the photo again. He muttered in astonishment, "Oliver?!" It was him! He had become the tenth-generation heir of the Davis family?!
"Big Young Master, are you okay?" Darren asked cautiously. He could imagine how shocking this news would be for Maxwell; after all, two unrelated people couldn't look exactly the same!
"I'm fine, you can go about your business," Maxwell replied absent-mindedly.
Darren looked at him, hesitated for a moment, then turned and walked out. It was hard to imagine how Maxwell, a top-level assassin and the highest leader of two organizations, would digest this news!
Maxwell remained stunned for a whole thirty minutes before slowly standing up from his office chair. He steadied his steps and walked towards the study door.
A passing maid nodded politely, "Good day, Big Young Master."
"Where is Mrs. Smith?" Maxwell stared at her and asked.
"Mrs. Smith is in her room, changing clothes and preparing to go out," the maid answered.
Maxwell bypassed her and quickly walked to Mrs. Smith's bedroom. After knocking on the door, he walked in. Inside the bedroom, Chiyoko was attentively helping Mrs. Smith with her accessories. When she saw Maxwell, she smiled gently and greeted, "Maxwell."
"Chiyoko, please step outside for a moment," Maxwell said sternly.
Chiyoko looked surprised but obediently set down the accessories and glanced at Maxwell, who had an expressionless face. She then walked out.
After Chiyoko left, Mrs. Smith glanced at Maxwell through the mirror and smiled as she asked, "Maxwell, what can't you say in front of Chiyoko? After all, she is your fiancée."
Maxwell didn't answer her question. He took a few steps forward and sat down on the chair next to her, getting straight to the point, "Aunt, have you met Mrs. Davis' son?"
"Oh, Kevin has been staying at the hotel for business matters recently and rarely comes home, so I haven't met him yet. But Mrs. Davis invited me today specifically to meet her son, and I'm very excited about it," Mrs. Smith said with a beaming smile as if she were going to meet her own biological son.
"You're going to meet Kevin today?" Maxwell asked, surprised.
"Yes, what's the matter?" Mrs. Smith, seeing his astonished expression, asked in confusion.
Maxwell shook his head and continued to ask, "Aunt, is Mrs. Davis' son her biological child? Why have I never heard of her having a son?" The urgency was evident on his face because he was truly amazed. He had never heard of Mrs. Davis giving birth to a child. When he heard that she had returned to the country with her son recently, he found it strange. How did a son suddenly appear?
At that time, he didn't care enough to pay attention to it, but after the investigation today, he made a shocking discovery...
Mrs. Smith still had a smile on her face as she said, "I was curious too and asked her. She told me they adopted him from an orphanage 25 years ago. Mrs. Davis was fortunate; the son she adopted turned out to be filial and capable, and he manages the company very well."
As she spoke, Mrs. Smith let out a sigh and remembered her own incompetent son. After entrusting the company to him, he couldn't even handle it for a few months and was destroyed overnight by the White Family!
She sighed again and looked at the unusually intrigued Maxwell, questioning, "Maxwell, why are you suddenly so interested in Mrs. Davis' son? You didn't pay much attention to each other before, even when I introduced you."
