Chapter 72: Chapter 72
Chloe paused with her fork halfway in the air and shook her head after thinking for a moment, "I don't remember. In a moment of emergency, I didn't have the time to study its details."
"Oh... why didn't you take a picture of it with your phone?" Flora wailed softly. Oh my God! Finally, she had a chance to see it, and this woman insisted it was a snake, making her doubt whether Kevin was one of the brothers of the Smith Family!
"Take a picture? I'm lucky to have come back alive!" Chloe exclaimed with lingering fear. "Darling, do you know Kevin's identity? Heaven help me, if I get fired tomorrow, I won't let you off the hook!"
"What identity? Isn't he just an assistant in the company?" Flora asked cautiously. As far as she knew, he was just an assistant!
"Just an assistant would have been fine, but Mark informed me that that man was the CEO who took office in the company three years ago! Oh my goodness! This is a big mess!" Chloe panicked at the thought.
Flora was shocked, staring at her with disbelief, and exclaimed, "He's the CEO? Wasn't it said that the CEO wouldn't come? Who gave the wrong information? I'll teach her a lesson!"
Chloe sighed and said, "Just now I called Alma Brown to confirm, and she told me that the CEO didn't want to appear too high-profile, so he appeared as an assistant. Poor me, I even went to seduce him...oh, no..." She even complacently told him that the hotel had undergone reforms, aligning itself with international standards and offering special services...
"Don't cry, Chloe, believe that that man won't take revenge publicly like this. Don't worry!" Flora reached out and patted her shoulder to comfort her. But deep inside, she was equally panicked. He was the CEO of the company? And he specifically named her to be his personal assistant? Everything was so terrifying. What should she do?!
In any case, she had to first find out his true identity, and at least witness his tattoo behind once to see if it was a dragon or a snake. If it was the same as Maxwell and Oliver's tattoo, then... how should she do next?
Maxwell and Oliver were twins, so having the same tattoo was normal, but if this Kevin, who had no connection to the Smith brothers, also had a dragon tattoo on his back, it would be strange!
Chloe sighed and said irritably, "It's all your fault, why bother about who he is and whatnot? I don't care anymore. If you want to figure out whether or not you saw that dragon, go and see for yourself. I'm done with this dangerous game!"
"I know, I'll find an opportunity to figure it out on my own." Flora said. Regardless of whether he was the CEO or not, she had to make everything clear. Otherwise, staying by his side would be an unknown death!
Chiyoko, who had regained her freedom, pleased Mrs. Smith just as she did a year ago, spending most of her time by her side. Today was no exception, as she tenderly served Mrs. Smith a cup of coffee she had made herself.
A well-dressed man walked down from the second floor and politely greeted them as he passed through the living room, saying, "Hello, Madam, Miss Chiyoko."
"Hmm, hello." Mrs. Smith nodded and sighed helplessly as she watched him walk away. Her gaze shifted to the staircase and she saw Maxwell coming downstairs. She paused and looked at him, slightly reproaching, "Maxwell, are you still searching for Flora White?"
Chiyoko bit her lip, gazing at Maxwell in a daze, anxiously awaiting his response.
Maxwell seemed to not notice her presence and smiled at Mrs. Smith, "Aunt, why are you bringing up this matter again? I've promised that I will find her." A complex emotion stirred within his heart; he no longer wanted to question why he was so determined to find her. All he knew was that he had to find her!
"Why are you always so stubborn, Maxwell?" Mrs. Smith sighed helplessly and glanced at Chiyoko, wondering if Maxwell's heart was made of stone. Even if he wasn't attracted to Chiyoko's beauty, he should consider their past emotions, forgive her, and accept her again!
"Aunt, please don't worry about my affairs anymore. I won't act recklessly," Maxwell reassured her. He truly didn't want Mrs. Smith to be troubled by his matters. She should be living comfortably in the Smith Family mansion, just like she did in her own home before!
"You always say that, but how can I truly be at ease?" Mrs. Smith smiled bitterly and then took Chiyoko's hand, placing it into Maxwell's hand. She consoled him, "Maxwell, Chiyoko hasn't been out of the house for a while. Take her out for a stroll."
Maxwell glanced at Chiyoko, who was filled with anticipation, and nodded with a smile, "Alright."
"Really?" Chiyoko whispered in delight, her starry eyes glistening with excitement as she looked at Maxwell.
"Of course it's true," Maxwell smirked wickedly and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
Mrs. Smith saw that he finally had the willingness to touch Chiyoko and smiled with satisfaction. As long as he was willing to open his heart and accept her again, that was good!
Mrs. Smith continued speaking, "Mrs. Davis invited me to play cards today and have dinner together. I might be coming back late. If you don't have anything to do, you can go have dinner with her. She keeps talking about wanting to invite you for a meal."
Maxwell furrowed his brows and pondered for a moment before staring at Mrs. Smith, asking, "Aunt, back then, why did Mrs. Davis suddenly leave the United States?" Until now, he had never doubted this question and had never thought of Mrs. Davis.
However, ever since he had seen her last time, he suddenly felt that Mrs. Davis exuded a strange, indescribable peculiarity from head to toe!
