Chapter 155: Chapter 155
In the morning, Flora sat on the bed, hugging her knees, watching Maxwell dress until he was about to leave. Only then did she stop him, saying, "Big Young Master, are you really at ease leaving me in this big house with Miss Chiyoko?"
Mrs. Smith was going to the hospital, Robin was going to school, and this man was going to work. Oh my god! That meant there would be only her and Chiyoko left again? How was she supposed to endure these days?
"What? Are you afraid of her?" Maxwell turned around, sneering at her. Wasn't she always quite fierce? How could she be afraid of another woman? It was ridiculous.
"Jealousy is a woman's nature. It's normal for Miss Chiyoko to feel sad, upset, and angry. After all, you've wronged her," she said. Of course, she had her share, becoming his woman and carrying his child in a confused state.
No matter what Chiyoko did to her, she could understand it. But if it would harm her or the baby, it was better to avoid it. Here, she had to learn to protect herself.
"Don't accuse me like that," Maxwell was displeased with her statement and teased, "Don't come up with weird ideas to escape. You don't need to worry about your safety; I'll send someone to protect you, ensuring your safety."
Annoying! He saw through her intentions at a glance, and Flora stood there embarrassed. Yes, she wanted to leave here and go anywhere, as long as she wasn't kept with Chiyoko. Unfortunately, Maxwell had decided not to let her go out. It was frustrating! She didn't need his people to protect her; she just wanted to leave this mansion. Such a small request, why was it so difficult?
Maxwell gave her a final glance, ignoring her self-pity, and strode toward the door.
After Maxwell left, Flora lazily reclined back on the bed, facing another boring day. Staring at the ceiling, she had no desire to get up. Even if she did, it would be just another day of boredom inside the house.
As she was about to doze off in a daze, the bedroom door was pushed open. Flora abruptly opened her eyes, and standing before her was the person she least wanted to see, the one she had been avoiding – Miss Chiyoko!
Sitting up suddenly in bed, she greeted with a hint of horror, "Miss Chiyoko... good morning." Her scalp tingled, and every time she saw Chiyoko's beautiful face, she felt this way.
Glancing at the door, she wondered, wasn't that guy supposed to send someone to protect her? Why...?
Before she could recover from her panic, Chiyoko also glanced at the door. Then, she smiled and said, "Miss Flora, haven't you had breakfast yet? Get up and eat quickly."
Flora then noticed that Chiyoko was holding breakfast. This day must be an anomaly; Chiyoko, of all people, was bringing her breakfast? And with such a friendly smile – there had to be a catch, right? No wonder she was letting her imagination run wild; today's Chiyoko was just too strange. Strange enough to make her break out in a cold sweat, and her body instinctively moved backward.
Chiyoko scrutinized Flora who donned a modest sleeping gown. She felt great jealous. She was sleeping on Maxwell's bed? No woman had the privilege to do that! Even a year ago, when she stayed as an engaged fiancée, Maxwell never allowed her to spend the night in his bedroom.
She used to think that he naturally disliked women sleeping in his room. That wasn't the case. A woman like Flora, average in appearance, could sleep on his bed. And now she carried the bloodline of the Smith Family in her belly, although Chiyoko didn't believe Flora was carrying Maxwell's child.
The two women faced each other in silence, the atmosphere momentarily heavy.
Flora broke the silence, feeling uneasy, and forced a smile, "Miss Chiyoko, thank you for the breakfast. I'll eat after freshening up."
With that, she quickly slid off the bed, intending to escape to the bathroom. Whatever Chiyoko planned to do or say, she knew it wouldn't be good! Their coexistence would never be peaceful!
"Miss Flora!" Chiyoko suddenly called out, taking a few steps forward and standing closest to her, "Don't be in such a hurry to avoid me. I want to know what you plan to do next."
"What do you mean?" Flora turned to look at her in confusion, unable to understand the meaning behind her words. What did she mean by what she planned to do?
Although Chiyoko was suppressing herself to avoid being heard outside, she spoke angrily, "Stop pretending to be ignorant. I'm asking you, what do you plan to do? Do you intend to continue staying in the Smith Family mansion?"
Continue staying in the Smith Family mansion, in Maxwell's room? She wanted to ask this, but ultimately decided not to. She didn't want Flora to think she was helpless or a failure.
"This question... probably should be asked to Maxwell, right?" Flora glanced at her, as her freedom was always under Maxwell's control, without the right to make independent decisions!
Ask Maxwell? If Maxwell was willing to keep her in mind, willing to answer her questions, would she need to come here? Chiyoko didn't pay attention to her words, continuing to mock, "Miss Flora, don't you have any shame? Have you ever thought about your current status? What qualification do you have to sleep in Maxwell's room?"
Flora's heart sank halfway at these questions; she had thought about them, and she knew she had no right to stay in the Smith Family mansion. But what could she do? Things that shouldn't have happened continued to occur one after another, and she had even lost her freedom!
Taking a deep breath, Flora spoke lightly, "Miss Chiyoko, you don't need to tell me these things because it's useless. You can't change Maxwell's actions, and I certainly can't change them either."
