Chapter 154: Chapter 154

"Why would I be uncomfortable? You're the one in trouble soon, but I'm quite comfortable!" Flora defiantly exclaimed.

Maxwell's large hand, resting on her, paused, and he bit down angrily on her shoulder.

"Ouch!" Flora winced in pain, glaring at him.

"Do you want me dead? Do you want my life like the people from Yota Gang?" Maxwell glared at her, fists clenched at his sides, controlling his emotions to prevent himself from exploding. For the child, he kept reminding himself.

Flora fearlessly met his gaze, scoffing, "You might not necessarily want me alive either. Our previous relationship is clear in your heart. Neither of us hates the other any less, right?"

Exactly! She was right in every word! Maxwell chuckled mockingly. If it weren't for the child, he would probably have thrown her off the third floor to fend for herself a long time ago. What right did she have to act so arrogantly here? He and she would always be enemies. Thinking this way, he suddenly felt that there was nothing wrong with her words; it was normal for her to hope for his death.

Maxwell lowered his head slightly, breathing on her face, "Miss Flora, you're overthinking it. Maxwell isn't that easy to kill. Even the people from Yota Gang can't easily take my life. Are you disappointed?"

Flora just stared at him blankly, without saying anything. To be honest, she wasn't disappointed at all. It was okay if he got some retribution or was dealt with more severely, but taking his life... that might be going too far.

Her true thoughts could only be kept to herself. She certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to say them out loud; that would only make Maxwell even more pleased.

Maxwell rolled off her and stood up, straightening his clothes. As he walked towards the door, he turned back and said, "Remember to have dinner on time; don't let the child go hungry."

Again, it was about the child! Flora angrily slapped her belly and glared at the closed door. Listening to the fading footsteps as he walked further away, her heart felt a chill.

Now the room was empty again, alone. She never wanted to see him, yet feared loneliness and didn't want to be alone. Sleeping in the same bed with him every night, what exactly was their relationship?

Were they lovers? Or was she just a surrogate for the child, and their relationship would end after giving birth? Maxwell's methods were always unpredictable. He dared to stay in the same room with another woman in Chiyoko's presence, completely disregarding her feelings.

Was this his attitude towards women? Always considered himself the center, even treating Chiyoko, whom he had once loved deeply, the same way. She couldn't escape his indifference, couldn't escape his cruelty!

Downstairs, Mrs. Smith urged again, "Maxwell, when will Oliver come back? Have you called him?"

Maxwell paused with his fork in hand and replied, "Auntie, don't worry. He'll be back next month." He always spoke so confidently, making it difficult for Mrs. Smith to disbelieve.

Hearing Oliver's name, Chiyoko couldn't help but shiver. It was the painful taboo between her and Maxwell! She felt that she had no face to see Oliver again and didn't know how to face him. She was the one who least wanted Oliver to return to the Smith Family mansion. She had always hoped that the past could be put behind her sooner.

As usual, Maxwell was the first to leave. After he left, Robin suddenly raised his head from his bowl and stared at Mrs. Smith, saying, "Auntie, today, I saw someone who looks exactly like Big Brother and Second Brother."

Mrs. Smith was taken aback, then glared at him, scolding in a spoiled tone, "Nonsense!"

"I'm not lying. Exactly the same. If you don't believe me, ask Flora," Robin protested loudly, raising his voice to convince Mrs. Smith. He had promised Flora not to tell Maxwell about seeing the person, so he had to ask Mrs. Smith.

"How is that possible?" Mrs. Smith asked in shock, seeing Robin so serious. She couldn't help but take it seriously and asked, "Where did you see him? Does he really look exactly like them?"

"Not just like, exactly the same!" Robin reiterated, "He said his name is Kevin Davis."

"Kevin Davis?" Mrs. Smith became even more horrified, asking in disbelief, "You said Kevin Davis? Where did you see him? How could he look exactly like your Big Brother?"

A series of questions left Robin stunned. Wasn't she just skeptical a moment ago? Why was she so interested now?

"It's true, Auntie. I've seen photos of Kevin Davis," Chiyoko interjected, seeing Mrs. Smith anxious. Thinking of the intimate photos of Kevin and Flora, which indeed looked exactly like Maxwell, and having Philip investigate, it was confirmed that Kevin was the new heir of the Davis family.

"Chiyoko, you've also seen Kevin?" Mrs. Smith asked in astonishment, staring at Chiyoko. It seemed like everyone had seen him except her. There was something strange about it. Remembering the scene where Maxwell had stopped her from meeting Kevin, could it be for this reason? Was he trying to stop her?

Chiyoko smiled, "I've only seen photos, not in person. But I can confirm they do look exactly alike." She was also curious. Why were there two people in the world who looked so much alike? Seeing Mrs. Smith's reaction, was there some secret? Could there be a set of triplets in the Smith Family?

"Um..." Mrs. Smith murmured lowly, sinking into her thoughts. Kevin! She had to go see him to confirm if he really looked like what Chiyoko and Robin had said. A boy adopted by Mrs. Davis, how could he look exactly like both Maxwell and Oliver? Smith Family hadn't lost any children.

"Auntie, what's wrong?" Chiyoko looked at Mrs. Smith's somewhat off expression and asked with concern.

Mrs. Smith shook her head, forced a smile, and said, "It's nothing, just finding it a bit unbelievable. I think there might be some misunderstanding between them." She hoped that Chiyoko and Robin had misunderstood, hoping it was that way!
