Chapter 147: Chapter 147

"Flora! What are you daydreaming about?"

A sudden voice brought Flora back to reality. The coldness she had built up so hard was once again torn down by Robin's handsome and mischievous face. Gazing at him, she couldn't maintain her indifference and slightly frowned, pretending to be displeased, "You scared me again! I'll ignore you!"

"You ignored me even when I called you several times. It's your fault for ignoring people! Ask Big Brother if you don't believe me." Robin innocently said, then looked up at Maxwell for confirmation, "Big Brother, isn't it? She was daydreaming!"

"She has a habit of daydreaming; ignore her." Maxwell glanced at Flora and said nonchalantly.

Frustrated, Flora stared at him with dissatisfaction. Even when scolding, he could do it with such gentlemanly charm, with a face as calm as ever. Only Maxwell could manage that. Grinding her teeth, she endured it.

They soon arrived at the school. The car stopped on the campus playground, filled with luxurious cars. Flora, having grown up attending a prestigious school, wasn't shocked by the grand scene.

After getting out of the car, before Flora could ask if she could move freely, Maxwell pulled her into his arms and headed toward the teaching building. Robin, with a knowing look, led them to the classroom.

When Robin brought the two to the classroom, he cheerfully said to Maxwell, "Big Brother, I'm going to play baseball with my classmates. Remember to find me at the baseball field." He still hoped that when they left, Maxwell would accompany him to play around.

"Hey, Little Robin, you're here."

A gentle female voice suddenly reached the ears of the three. Everyone looked toward the source, and a sweet and graceful woman walked out of the classroom. Her smiling eyes unabashedly fixed on Maxwell, sparkling with a hint of undisguised joy.

"Hello, Ms. Harper. Goodbye, Ms. Harper," greeted Robin before swiftly running off.

His greeting made Flora realize the identity of the woman before her - Ms. Harper, the gentle and beautiful class teacher that Robin often mentioned. Indeed, she was beautiful and gentle, and it made Flora have the desire to protect her.

"Hello, Mr. Maxwell. It's been a while," greeted Ms. Harper softly, her gaze unconsciously flickering towards Flora, who was nestled in Maxwell's arms. A fleeting disappointment crossed her face, but she quickly regained her composure, displaying utmost professionalism.

"Hello, Ms. Harper," Maxwell's lips curled up slightly as he greeted her.

"Hello, Ms. Harper," Flora smiled.

Only now did Ms. Harper redirect her gaze towards Flora, intentionally ignoring Maxwell's arm around her waist, and asking with a smile, "And who is this young lady?"

"Oh, I'm Flora, and..."

"My fiancee," interrupted Maxwell, his smile still intact.

Both Flora and Ms. Harper were taken aback, looking at him in astonishment. His expression wasn't joking at all, and it stung Ms. Harper's heart a little. She forced a bitter smile, tugging at the corners of her lips, and said, "Oh, you two, please come and sit inside."

"Thank you," Maxwell nodded and led Flora to the classroom, which was almost filled with people.

Feeling the envious gazes of men and the admiration of women around her, Flora finally realized what was happening. She had been used by this evil man!

Damn it! No wonder he was so kind, taking her out for a walk? Hmph! What a cunning guy!

The anger made her footsteps stiffen a bit, and Maxwell sensed the change. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Miss Flora, do you want me to carry you in?"

"No!" Flora quickened her pace under his threat and sat with him in the back row. In protest, she stared at him and threatened in a low voice, "You dare to use me! I'll clarify things with Ms. Harper later!"

"Do you dare? If you have the guts, go ahead and try!" Maxwell sneered, not taking her threat seriously at all.

As Flora wanted to retort, Ms. Harper had already started speaking onstage, so she had to hold back.

The parents' meeting was a boring event. Flora couldn't sit still after twenty minutes, feeling even more uncomfortable than being tortured. She also had to endure the occasional envious glances from Ms. Harper.

Envy? Flora forced a bitter smile. If Ms. Harper knew the kind of life she was living, she wouldn't be looking at her that way. It was not a life that a normal person should live; she couldn't escape from it!

"Um... I need to use the restroom," Flora looked at Maxwell's handsome profile and chuckled softly. She couldn't stay there any longer, couldn't stand the atmosphere any longer; she had to find a way to escape!

Maxwell was even more impatient than her, but his surface didn't show it at all. As a gentleman, he never revealed his restless side.

He didn't respond to Flora's words, so she took it as his approval. She raised her head, swiftly stood up from her seat, and slipped out of the classroom door without disturbing anyone.

Finally free, Flora took a deep breath, facing the serene blue sky. That place was not fit for her, and such a beautiful place was better left for Maxwell to enjoy by himself! As for her... she was going to find Robin and play some baseball!

Flora arrived at the baseball field in high spirits. As soon as she stepped onto the field, the sharp-eyed Robin spotted her and asked in confusion, "Flora, why aren't you inside listening to Ms. Harper praising me?"

Hah! He was shameless. Flora rolled her eyes in disbelief and said, "Because I saw you guys playing, and I want to play as well. Can I join?"

"I'll ask the coach." Robin turned to the coach on the other side and shouted, "Mr. Martinez, I have a friend who wants to join. Is it okay?"

Flora smiled as she looked towards the other side of the net where a few kids, including a tall and slender young boy, were playing. He wasn't exceptionally handsome, but he had a sunny look, like a college student fresh out of university.

Upon hearing the shout, Mr. Martinez also looked at Flora and walked over with a smile, "Of course, welcome to join. What's your name, miss?" He seemed friendly towards Flora.

"Thank you, Mr. Martinez. I'm Flora," she politely replied.

"You're welcome. Well, Flora, have you played baseball before?" Mr. Martinez was skeptical, as there weren't many girls who played baseball. Especially the delicate and beautiful ones, they usually cared more about their image.

"Let's have a try?" Flora happily took the baseball bat from Robin's hand and confidently walked onto the field. Influenced by Henry, she had been into baseball for a while and was quite good at it. Of course, not as good as Henry.

Surprisingly, after not touching a baseball for so long, she still played quite comfortably. Once she started playing, Flora forgot that she was currently pregnant. She ran around the field excitedly, completely unaware of any discomfort.

Amidst the cheers of the kids, her skills were on par with Mr. Martinez, but she lacked his strength.
