Chapter 148: Chapter 148
Flora wasn't in a hurry, but she infuriated Maxwell inside the classroom. Through the glass window, Maxwell glared at the woman who claimed to be going to the restroom but ran directly onto the playground. He wished he could grab her off the playground immediately.
Dealing with a man was already enough to make him angry, and now she was recklessly running around the baseball field without caring about her body? A mixture of anger and concern attacked his heart, making him almost impulsively rush out.
Suddenly, a woman beside him gently pushed his arm and looked at him tenderly, reminding him, "Mr. Maxwell, Ms. Harper is calling for you."
Maxwell was taken aback and withdrew his gaze from the playground. He noticed that all eyes around him were focused on him. Fortunately, he wasn't the kind of person who lived in the limelight, and he had grown accustomed to being the center of attention.
Just as he fixed his eyes on Ms. Harper, trying to suppress the anger in his heart with a forced smile, he asked, "I'm sorry, Ms. Harper, I didn't hear what you said just now. Could you please repeat it?" That darn woman had embarrassed him!
"Um..." Ms. Harper smiled patiently and said, "Mr. Maxwell, I wanted to ask for your opinion. Do you agree to let Robin join the baseball club?" She glanced at the baseball field opposite, finally understanding why Maxwell had lost focus.
"As long as he likes it, I have no objection," Maxwell said indifferently. He was getting increasingly uneasy, disregarding whether it was against the rules or not. He stood up apologetically and said, "Ms. Harper, I'm sorry, but I need to take a leave."
It was a matter of life and death! If he didn't leave now, the baby would be in danger. He couldn't trust that woman to take care of the baby properly.
Ms. Harper hesitated for a moment and agreed. Although she was reluctant, Maxwell had already brought it up, and she couldn't refuse.
Once he got Ms. Harper's approval, Maxwell stood up, turned around, and walked quickly to the classroom door.
Flora, who was having a great time, suddenly felt her body being controlled by something. She looked down and saw a powerful arm wrapped around her. Like a steel ring, it clung to her, paused for a moment, then turned her head and saw Maxwell glaring at her with anger.
As she loosened her grip, the baseball bat dropped to the ground. Flora's mind quickly spun around, unable to figure out what she had done wrong. Where did she offend him, and why was he so angry? She didn't understand!
She awkwardly smiled and said, "Big Young Master, what's wrong? Is the meeting over?" Right, everyone hadn't come out yet, so why was he the only one who came out, and with such a furious expression?
Maxwell forcibly carried her off the field, angrily growling, "Miss Flora! Do you have any knowledge of pregnancy? Don't you know that you shouldn't engage in strenuous exercise during pregnancy?" Especially not flirting with other men! He added in his mind.
Flora looked apologetically at him and tentatively said, "I'm sorry. I've never been pregnant before, and I don't have much experience. I just got carried away with excitement..." But she knew very well that her body wasn't that fragile and needed to be handled with care.
The baby in her belly had always been well-behaved, and she didn't feel anything no matter how much she jumped and ran.
"If something happens to the baby, do you think you'll still have a chance to live?" Maxwell roared lowly, not giving her any face.
Flora raised her head with a slight shrug and muttered, "Don't worry, I used to go to work every day without any problems."
At this moment, Mr. Martinez walked over, looking at the two strangely behaving individuals. He turned to Flora and asked with concern, "Flora, is everything okay?"
"It's okay. You can continue playing your game. I'm disciplining my fiancée here," Maxwell said expressionlessly, declaring his dominance. Flora was his woman, and even if it was just simple care from other men, it made him uncomfortable.
"Oh, I see. I won't disturb you then," Mr. Martinez said awkwardly, then went back to the field to continue teaching the little kids how to play.
Facing Maxwell's fiery anger, Flora didn't know what to do. Fortunately, a girl came from the direction of the classroom and stood in front of them. She said, "Mr. Maxwell, Ms. Harper is looking for you. Are you available to go see her?"
Maxwell frowned, clearly reluctant, as he knew Ms. Harper's intentions. However, respecting the teacher had been his philosophy since childhood, so he still went. Before leaving, he ordered Flora to wait for him in the car and threatened to deal with her when he returned.
Shrinking her neck at his departing figure, Flora turned around to find Robin She promptly pulled him off the field, enticing him with a sly smile, "Little Young Master, your Big Brother isn't back yet. How about we go outside for a walk?"
"Okay... Flora, are you going to treat me to McDonald's?" Robin asked excitedly.
Flora chuckled awkwardly and said, "Little Young Master, you know Big Young Master doesn't let you eat those junk foods. And I don't have money, hah." Living in the Smith Family mansion provided her with food and drink, but her pockets were empty!
"You have no money?" Robin looked disappointed and rolled his eyes, "Then why did you suggest going out for a walk?" He turned to go back to the field. It was better to wait for his Big Brother to take him because he had a lot of money.
"Uh..." Flora grabbed him back and patted her neck. Empty. Her arms were empty too, but luckily, she found a small item on her ear. Taking it off and looking at it, it wasn't bad – it was the pair of gold and diamond earrings she had been wearing for several months. She shook it in front of Robin, "I have this. Don't worry about money."
"Can you buy McDonald's with this?" Robin looked at the small object in her hand with suspicion.
"Of course, you can have McDonald's for half a year with this." Flora confidently declared. These two diamonds were more than enough.
"Great, let's go then." Excitement returned to Robin's face. He held Flora's hand and headed towards the side entrance. They couldn't use the main entrance, because the driver was waiting there. Flora was more excited than he was. Finally, she could move freely, and she could see Chloe and Linda!
