Chapter 146: Chapter 146

"Well, yes," Flora looked at him, unable to discern his current mood. She decided it was better not to provoke him.

"Can your body withstand a long car ride?" Maxwell continued, observing her facial expressions change gradually and then instantly light up with joy.

She replied, "Of course! I can sit in a car for days without any problem!"

"That's good. Go change your clothes quickly." Maxwell released her, turned around, and walked out of the bathroom, removing his bathrobe.

Whether he was in a formal suit or casual clothes, he always looked handsome and charming. Especially with a less malicious expression on his face, he was simply irresistible. Flora stared at him dreamily until he finished changing clothes, then hurriedly lowered her gaze and rushed to the closet. After randomly picking a set of outdoor clothes, she walked out of the bathroom.

As Flora emerged, she cautiously asked, "Big Young Master, do you really agree to let me go out on my own?" It was strange; had he taken the wrong medicine? He actually agreed to let her go out?

"Of course, I don't agree," Maxwell replied without looking up, then took the car keys and headed towards the door. When he reached the entrance, he turned to see Flora standing still. Annoyed, he urged, "Do you want to go or not?"

"Go where?" Flora asked in confusion. Although she didn't know where they were going, as long as she could leave this gilded cage, she was willing, even if it meant going out with him, which she didn't want at all.

"Aren't you okay with going anywhere?" Maxwell sneered, continuing to walk forward.

When they reached the ground floor, Chiyoko had already brought Robin, who had changed into his clothes, downstairs. Seeing Flora beside Maxwell, her heart instantly filled with anger. Maxwell didn't want her to go with him, but he allowed Flora to accompany him?

On the contrary, Robin, upon seeing Flora in casual clothes, happily bounced over and shouted, "Flora, are you going to our school too? That's great! Our school is so much fun, and there's everything!"

"Hah... Why would I go to your school?" Flora asked, puzzled. When did she say she wanted to go to his school? A primary school campus, even if it is a prestigious school, didn't have anything fun, did it?

She wanted most to stroll around the streets, visit Chloe and Linda, and find out how they were doing. She hadn't heard any news about them!

"Oh? Weren't you going to accompany Big Brother to the parent-teacher meeting?" Robin's handsome face drooped, and he complained unhappily.

Parent-teacher meeting? Flora was confused; Maxwell hadn't mentioned it to her! Looking up and finding Maxwell looking at her.

Maxwell said, "Don't you want to go? If you don't, just stay in the room."

If it weren't for the fact that he felt she was too bored at home, he wouldn't have taken her along, even though he did indeed have plans to bring a woman to the parent-teacher conference to prevent Robin's infatuated teacher, Ms. Harper, from continuing to pursue him.

Of course, for him, it was too easy to find a woman to go with him. When he returned to the room and saw Flora so eager to go out, he decided on the spot to let her go. It also saved him from having to make appointments with those clingy women.

"Of course, I want to go!" Flora exclaimed without hesitation. Leaving her and Chiyoko alone in the grand Smith Family mansion was terrifying to even think about. The parent-teacher meeting didn't seem so bad; at worst, she could wait for them at the school gate.

Maxwell glanced at her mockingly, walking towards the door. The driver had already prepared the car. As if afraid Maxwell might change his mind, Flora quickly got into the car. After Maxwell and Robin boarded, the driver smoothly pulled the car out of the Smith Family mansion.

Through the rearview mirror, Flora saw Chiyoko standing on the steps, wearing a sullen yet radiant expression of resentment.

Chiyoko took out her phone, intending to call Philip, but suddenly remembered Maxwell's warning and dejectedly lowered her arm.

To ensure a peaceful life in the Smith Family mansion, it would be better to bide her time. She could seek Philip's help when Maxwell became less vigilant. In any case, she would not let Flora safely give birth to the child! Otherwise, she would never have a chance to be with Maxwell in her entire life. She missed one opportunity, and she couldn't afford to miss a second!

The car sped along the private road as Robin, as usual, rolled down the car window, leaning out to gaze at the nearby sea. The sea breeze rushed into the car, tugging at Flora's long hair and making her uncomfortable.

Seeing how focused Robin was, Flora didn't want to disturb him and quietly slipped under the seat.

The sea breeze that entered through the window carried Maxwell's scent, pricking Flora's nostrils. Surprisingly, she found it quite pleasant. Unable to resist, she glanced at him, discovering he had closed his eyes, appearing relaxed.

Everyone seemed occupied with their thoughts, and she felt uneasy and out of place. Why did this family choose such a desolate place to seclude themselves? It took over an hour to go anywhere.

While she was complaining to herself, suddenly, the wind disappeared. In its place, Robin's voice of complaint emerged, "Why did you close the window? It's so stuffy..."

"Isn't the air conditioning on?" Maxwell withdrew his hand from the button, smiling casually.

"Yes, Little Young Master, the air conditioning is on." The driver in the front seat respectfully reported and continued steering.

Flora, untangling her hair tousled by the wind, gratefully glanced at Maxwell, "Thank you, Big Young Master." She knew he closed the window because he saw her discomfort.

Maxwell cast her a casual glance and said indifferently, "The child is mine; you're thanking me unnecessarily." Even if he genuinely cared for her and closed the window because he saw her discomfort, Maxwell would never admit to such an embarrassing thing!

Once again, it was about the child. Every time she felt a little moved, he would ruthlessly pour cold water on her. Every action of his seemed to revolve around the child. Flora angrily pinched her palm, reminding herself to wake up quickly. How could she expect any feelings from this devil?

She shouldn't seek his affection! After being hurt and tormented by him, the least she could do was hate him. Unable to take revenge, she would use indifference to protect her dignity!
