Chapter 124: Chapter 124

Flora's hope vanished when the person appeared—it was Nancy! This woman liked to bully others, who even dared to mistreat Chiyoko, let alone her. Flora thought with some fear in her heart, silently watching every move she made.

Sure enough, when Nancy saw her, she pulled the corners of her mouth into a cold smirk and sneered, "Miss Flora, good morning!"

What chilled Flora's heart, however, wasn't Nancy but Chiyoko, who entered behind her. At this moment, Chiyoko's face showed not only schadenfreude but also a deep indifference. Being confined here, she was the one who could feel that kind of pain the most, right?

It wasn't surprising that she would show such an expression, Flora thought with a bitter smile. She just didn't know where she had offended her, making her so repulsed. Everyone in the Smith Family mansion knew that she had been forced to become Maxwell's captive!

"What's wrong, Miss Flora? No appetite?" Chiyoko mocked as she looked at Flora's disheveled appearance. Seeing that she didn't even glance at the breakfast on the plate, she asked tauntingly.

Hearing her mockery, Flora lifted her eyelids and stared at her, "Miss Chiyoko, did you come just to ridicule me? If so, I advise you not to do such low-level things. Pay attention to your cultivation, so that the Big Young Master will love you more."

Chiyoko's face blushed, feeling embarrassed as if her sore spot had been stepped on, but she quickly recovered. Unmoved, she said, "Miss Flora, why would you think that way? I just came to kindly remind you of a few small issues to pay attention to while staying in this room. As a newcomer, you must be unfamiliar with these minor matters..."

"No need, you can go!" Flora interrupted her coldly.

"You," Chiyoko glared at her with suppressed anger, wishing she could go up and slap her! A despicable woman! A woman who competes with her for a man!

Nancy, who had been trying to please her during this time, hurriedly tried to appease her, "Miss Chiyoko, don't lower yourself to her level. She's gone mad, speaking without knowing the consequences, unaware of her current status!"

Chiyoko sneered and gritted her teeth, "She acts so high and mighty, calling herself innocent. The photos were taken so beautifully, so full of love." Thank heavens and thanks to her good friend who did her such a favor.

Hearing her words, Flora remembered the set of photos that had wrongly accused her and sighed helplessly. She had nothing to say and didn't want to argue further because the woman in front of her wasn't worth it. Chiyoko was just a pitiful woman who treated her as an imaginary enemy. Flora was curious about how long she could feel triumphant!

Flora stood up from the bed, walked to the sofa in the middle of the bedroom, and sat down, no longer wanting to exchange useless words with her.

Seeing her arrogant demeanor, Chiyoko felt increasingly uncomfortable and stifled. She had secretly come up without Maxwell's knowledge, hoping to see her in pain and then beg her to let her go. Unexpectedly, she was so stubborn, completely different from what she had anticipated, which was infuriating!

Suppressing the anger deep in her heart, she turned to Nancy and smiled lightly, "Nancy, since Miss Flora can't eat, let's just take away the breakfast." Let her be stubborn! Let's see how long she can keep it up. Chiyoko thought to herself.

"Alright." Nancy now obeyed Chiyoko unquestioningly. Whatever she said was the rule, all because she feared retaliation! She decisively picked up the breakfast from the table and headed to the bathroom. When she came out, the bowl was empty.

Chiyoko turned around, stepping on her high heels as she walked downstairs. After locking the bedroom door, Nancy hurriedly followed her, going downstairs together. The entire third floor was now empty, quiet, with no sound at all.

Flora sighed and walked to the terrace. Even though she hadn't eaten since last night, her stomach was growling. However, she still had no appetite. Even if Nancy hadn't thrown away the breakfast, she wouldn't have been able to eat it!

When she reached the sliding door to the terrace, she realized it was locked, and she couldn't get out. Maxwell! He even locked the terrace, does he want to force her to die here? What a ruthless man!

Mrs. Smith, returning from a stroll in the garden, noticed that only Robin and Chiyoko were having breakfast on the first-floor dining table. She asked Betty, who was nearby, "Has Big Young Master not gotten up yet?"

"No, madam," Betty replied respectfully, busy tidying up the dishes.

"That's strange. Why is he sleeping so much today?" Mrs. Smith asked in confusion. Normally, Maxwell was always punctual and strict with his schedule, a fact that never failed to surprise people.

"Perhaps he didn't sleep well last night," Chiyoko chuckled. After such an incident and such a big argument, how could he sleep well?

"Well, let him sleep a bit more. Let's eat first," Mrs. Smith said, washed her hands, sat down at the dining table, and began to have breakfast with everyone.

It wasn't until after breakfast that Maxwell's figure appeared on the spiral staircase, descending quietly.

Looking at Maxwell coming down the stairs, Robin asked loudly, "Big Brother, are you still going to drive me to school today?"

"I'll have Darren take you. He's waiting for you outside," Maxwell said.

By the time he finished speaking, he had already reached the ground floor. It was too late today, so let Darren take him!

Robin said, "Okay," shouldered his backpack, and trotted out.

After Mrs. Smith watched Robin's figure leave, she turned to Maxwell and asked with concern, "Maxwell, your spirits don't seem too good. What happened?"

Though she asked this on the surface, in her heart, she already had a vague understanding that it was related to Flora. That woman again! Ugh!

"Nothing, I just slept too late yesterday," Maxwell reassured indifferently.

Little did anyone know that he was currently feeling dizzy and weak all over. He didn't know what had happened; last night, he had only had a little brandy, yet he ended up feeling like this!

Mrs. Smith, instructing the maid to quickly prepare breakfast, followed him to the dining table and said helplessly, "I told you not to pay attention to that woman anymore. She looks like a troublemaker. Otherwise, why would her step-parents dislike her so much?"

"Do her step-parents dislike her?" Maxwell unconsciously asked. He didn't want to get involved in her affairs again, but he couldn't help asking. For some reason, whenever he heard the news about her, he felt an inexplicable desire to find out more.

"Of course, they do. Giving her to Joshua was just for the sake of the Smith Family's status. Unfortunately, that useless Joshua was so infatuated with her. Thankfully, he wakes up now," Mrs. Smith said with bitterness. Unfortunately, he woke up too late.

After checking the time, she said, "Oh, I need to go see Joshua. Take your time eating, and if you're not feeling well, don't go to work today." Mrs. Smith admonished.

For these days, Joshua had been in the hospital for rehabilitation, and she wanted to accompany him!

After taking a few steps, she turned back reluctantly, half-commanding and half-reproaching, "Just keep Flora locked upstairs. Don't provoke her again." She was worried that he might cause trouble by interacting with her.

If he could confine Flora as he did with Chiyoko, she wouldn't object. She just hoped he could truly refrain from going upstairs for a year, as he had done before. That way, Flora wouldn't be able to impact his life.
