Chapter 123: Chapter 123
Maxwell walked out of the bedroom indifferently and headed downstairs, his footsteps steady but heavy. As he heard the crying behind him and thought about Flora's desperate attempts to defend herself, he felt a twinge of pain.
However, he didn't feel a hint of regret. Once the idea of locking her in the room took root, it was hard to get rid of it, and he had never considered getting rid of it. This was how he should deal with a woman like her!
Originally, he had intended to keep her by Kevin's side, to see what tricks Kevin was up to, and give her a few good days in the meantime. But she didn't know how to appreciate it and ended up going to a hotel suite with Kevin.
How could he contain the restlessness in his heart and let her continue to stay with Kevin? He would rather find another way to deal with Kevin than let her have any more good days!
While walking, Maxwell suddenly paused and unexpectedly saw Robin standing at the staircase on the third floor, looking at him with a face of fear. Maxwell's heart skipped a beat at the small trace of fear on his face. Could his actions have affected Robin's young heart? Judging by his expression, it seemed likely.
"Big Brother, why are you treating Flora like this?" Robin looked up at Maxwell and earnestly asked. His eyes filled with a mix of confusion and dissatisfaction.
"Don't ask so many questions, go do your homework." Maxwell approached and put his arm around Robin's shoulder, leading him downstairs. He felt that there was no need to explain so much to a child about these matters.
Robin held onto his hand and looked up at him eagerly, "Flora isn't bad, why are you keeping her locked up? Let her out, Big Brother!" In his eyes, Flora had always been good, better than any servant.
Maxwell hesitated slightly. That woman had a way of winning people over. Not only did Kevin show great interest in her, but even Robin was always protective of her.
"Is she good? What's so good about her?" Maxwell sneered.
Yes, he was genuinely curious about this question! What was it about that woman that could capture everyone's hearts? When he had imprisoned Chiyoko, Robin hadn't said a word.
Robin opened his mouth but couldn't say a word because he didn't know what was good about Flora. Nevertheless, he felt a strong liking for her. Loudly, he said, "I don't know, but I just feel she's a good person."
Maxwell chuckled lightly and said indifferently, "I didn't say she's a bad person. The definition of good and bad is unclear. I confined her because she wasn't obedient. Go down." After that, he forcefully took Robin downstairs.
When he brought him back to the bedroom, Maxwell stared at him and solemnly commanded, "Without my order, you're not allowed to step on the third floor, understood?"
"Oh, understood," Robin replied unhappily. He pouted and didn't speak again. Over the long period, he had figured out Maxwell's temper just like everyone else. When he decided something, it was hard for others to change it easily.
"Be good, finish your homework, and go to bed early," Maxwell patted the back of his head, gently admonishing. After hearing his response, he turned and walked out, returning to his bedroom.
Upon entering the room, he saw Chiyoko sitting on the edge of the bed earnestly folding clothes. She had always wanted to do something for Maxwell but couldn't find a way, so she refolded the clothes.
Seeing Maxwell come in, she quickly stood up and approached, asking with concern, "Maxwell, do you want to take a bath? I've already prepared hot water for you." She reached out to help unbutton his shirt.
Maxwell pushed away her hand and coldly said, "Thank you, you can leave."
Women! Did they think that after making a mistake, doing a small favor could make up for it? Naive and childish!
Chiyoko had long been accustomed to his indifference. She had finally suppressed Flora and was confident in regaining his love. So, she didn't lose heart, still smiling as she said, "Maxwell, don't be angry. It's not worth getting upset over a small matter."
"Go out!" An impatient voice sounded. Maxwell, frustrated and annoyed by Flora, couldn't stand her nagging in his ear.
The cold tone successfully conveyed his irritation towards her. Smart women would leave at this moment, and Chiyoko was not foolish. After hesitating for a moment, she bid him good night and retreated.
The bedroom fell silent. Maxwell took a step back, his robust figure sinking deep into the sofa. A sense of unprecedented restlessness enveloped him as the events of this matter lingered in his mind, making it difficult for him to find peace.
After a night, a new day dawned.
Flora, who had sat by the door all night, opened her dry eyes faintly. The sight that met her eyes was a room filled with luxury, unfamiliarity, and a chilling atmosphere.
The events of the previous night rushed into her mind like a tidal wave—Maxwell's indifference, Maxwell's confinement. She...had once again become his captive, back in this gloomy mansion!
Moving her numb body, she was so numb that she had trouble standing up. She rubbed her dry eyes and began searching for her handbag. She hadn't called Auntie Grace to let her know she was safe, even though she was far from safe now!
Auntie Grace would surely be worried about her, and Kevin might think she had taken a leave starting today. Well, at least he wouldn't know her current situation, a situation she couldn't speak of!
What should she do in the coming days? What about her and the baby? Was she going to be imprisoned by him for a lifetime? No! She would never accept that, even if it meant death. She wouldn't stay here!
With hatred in her thoughts, Flora struggled to sit up and moved towards the large bed, sitting on it. On the opposite side of the bed, the curtain of the full-length mirror was pulled high. She saw her haggard and pitiful self in the mirror, shedding several tears for herself.
The sound of unlocking the door came, and Flora froze, quickly wiping away the few tears in her eyes and looking towards the door. Would it be Maxwell? Was there even a faint hope that she could leave?
