Chapter 116: Chapter 116
"Hey! Where are you taking me?" Flora, who was forcefully pushed into the car, angrily shouted.
Kevin climbed into the driver's seat from the other side and chuckled, "Didn't you say you didn't care? There's a dinner party, come with me!"
"You—!" Flora angrily glanced at the employees who were looking over here from outside the car as they headed towards the hotel. Then she turned her head and stared at Kevin, shouting, "How can I not care when I've been spread like this!?"
"The innocent have nothing to fear. What are you afraid of?" Kevin shrugged nonchalantly.
"In this situation, even the innocent become guilty! Are you happy to have caused all this trouble for me?!" Flora's eyes teared up in anger. When everyone thought they were in a questionable relationship, he still wanted to take her out for dinner? He was intentionally making things difficult for her!
Seeing her eyes welling up with tears, Kevin leaned in and gently wiped away a stray tear with his hand. His voice suddenly softened, "Those who dared to spread rumors about you won't appear tomorrow, okay?"
Flora slapped his hand away, stared at him, and sneered, "Yes, you can silence their mouths, but how about their thoughts? Even if you're the big boss, can everything be resolved with just your words? Are you going to fire all the employees at Moonlight Hotel?"
"What's wrong with that?" Kevin said coldly, thinking about those women who loved to gossip. It was only right to fire people like that.
Flora was about to explode with anger. She felt that they could never understand each other. She just hoped that he wouldn't cause any more trouble for her, and she would be grateful if he stopped making things worse!
"I have nothing to say to you. Open the door and let me get out!" Flora gritted her teeth and glared at him.
Kevin did not open the car door for her to get out. He surveyed her and smiled before speaking, "How can you blame me? It was you who caused this mess yourself. If you hadn't casually fooled around with others, how could your mother end up causing a scene in the hotel? How could—"
"Oh—! Shut up!" Flora covered her ears and let out a scream. This was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to her. She didn't want to hear him mention it again, not anymore! Fooling around with others? Did she do that willingly? Wasn't she forced into it?
True to her words, Kevin didn't say anything else. He chuckled softly, started the car, and began driving. Flora had no chance to get out of the car and could only lean back in resignation, staring blankly out of the window at the street scene.
The car stopped in front of a luxury hotel.
Kevin glanced at the reluctant Flora. He laughed lightly and said, "Get out, are you planning to wait in the car?" Seeing her downcast appearance, he felt it was necessary to take her out and do something.
Flora shifted in her seat and unbuckled her seat belt, then got out of the car and followed him behind a waiter as they walked toward the second floor. The waiter led them to a large private room on the second floor and opened the door for them to enter.
As they walked in, Flora finally noticed that there were so many people inside. A large round table was already filled with people, and almost everyone stood up and greeted them with laughter.
One of the men chuckled and said, "Kevin, I never expected you, the busy man, to grace us with your presence. Truly surprising!"
"Since everyone is here, why can't I come?" Kevin retorted, looking at him.
"The whole world knows that you're such a busy man, who would have time to hang out with us small fries?" another man teased.
"Is that so? Since it's like that, I'll leave first." After Kevin finished speaking, he grabbed Flora's hand and turned to leave.
Suddenly, a man rushed up and blocked his path, saying, "Since you're here, don't think about leaving. It doesn't matter who you think you are, tonight you will still get drunk here."
Flora looked at the merry group of men and women, laughing and joking. She was curious, never expecting that Kevin, who was usually cold and meticulous, devoted to his work, had this side to him and so many good friends.
For some reason, at this moment, she thought of Maxwell, another person who stood on the cutting edge. She wondered if Maxwell, who usually seemed so uptight, also had a group of friends who were carefree and unconstrained. It didn't seem like it based on his personality!
Maxwell! He was more aloof than Kevin or Oliver, with nothing in his heart but hatred. He hated her and Chiyoko, and suddenly she felt like he was a man who lived in such a lonely world. No matter how much money and status he had, he must be lonely, living a more exhausting life than anyone else!
Kevin was pushed back onto his chair, and everyone started scrutinizing Flora, then laughed and asked, "Is she your new girlfriend? Not bad, your taste has become milder."
Hearing their words, Flora blushed and looked at Kevin, who seemed uncomfortable as he touched his nose. Clearing his throat, he said, "Please speak more tactfully in front of my companion."
What do they mean by a new girlfriend and taste becoming milder? Why does he dislike hearing these things? He also worried that Flora might misunderstand something.
"Hello, everyone. I'm his assistant, Flora White," Flora had to step forward and explain. Since Kevin already knew her real name, she might as well use her full name, so it wouldn't be so awkward.
"Assistant? Oh...I see! Come on, let's drink. Let's first toast to the assistant," one of the guys enthusiastically arranged, and everyone raised their glasses.
Flora stared at this ambiguous group of people, and shook her head desperately, saying, "I'm sorry, I don't drink. Maybe I can have orange instead of alcohol." She picked up a cup of orange.
She didn't drink, but the main reason was that she couldn't drink. How could a pregnant woman drink alcohol? If Auntie Grace found out, she would scold her to death, and it wasn't good for the baby.
"Orange isn't sincere enough. Come on, just one drink," everyone started teasing.
Flora anxiously and helplessly stared at the glass in front of her. With no other choice, she reluctantly raised the glass and took a sip. The burning sensation instantly scorched her throat, reaching her stomach, and causing her to cough heavily.
