Chapter 115: Chapter 115
When Flora finished work, she noticed Chloe sitting in front of the computer, browsing something with a smile on her face. Instinctively, Flora quietly approached her from behind and discovered that she was looking at the latest photos on the blog.
"So, you went on vacation to City A last week, instead of visiting a patient!" Flora looked at the scenic views of City A displayed on the computer screen, as well as Chloe's cheerful smile, and couldn't help but taunt her.
Chloe was startled and turned around to glare at her, "Hey, you scared me to death!"
Flora ignored her anger and chuckled, "So, you and Mr. Mark are finally together, huh? Ahaha, the world now has one more mistress..."
"Shut up!" Chloe snapped, disliking the term "mistress" and explained in frustration, "Who said we're together? Who said I wasn't there for the patient? I just happened to take a few photos of the nice scenery while I was there. If I were as cheap as some other women, I would have acted like it a long time ago!"
Realizing that she was insulting Miss Alma, Flora didn't expect such a strong reaction from Chloe. She awkwardly laughed and changed the subject, "Well... I should go to change my clothes. Don't be mad, Chloe!"
Was Chloe that angry? Flora wondered as she walked towards the changing room, following the orders from the higher-ups that required them to change out of their uniforms before going home.
Why was Chloe Brook so angry? She may have gotten along very well with Mark during her recent trip to City A, and their old feelings had been rekindled, Flora White thought to herself. Carrying her clothes towards the changing room.
As she entered the changing room, she immediately sensed that something was off. The girls inside stopped talking and glanced at Flora in silence. It was obvious that they had been discussing her.
Flora was used to this kind of situation, but what puzzled her was why the rumors about her being financially supported by Kevin had not faded away. On the contrary, they seemed to be getting stronger and spreading as if they were true.
Ignoring them, Flora opened one of the changing room doors and walked in, closing the door behind her. Just as she did, she heard a few whispers outside the door.
"Hey, she's not even the prettiest in the housekeeping department, and her figure is nothing special. How did she manage to seduce Mr. Kevin so easily? It's really strange!"
"She's in charge of organizing Mr. Kevin's rooms, and one thing led to another, ending up in his bed," one of the girls said, followed by a small laugh from everyone.
Furious, Flora opened the door abruptly and stormed out, shouting at them, "Are you done yet?! I have no relationship with Kevin at all! Can you hear me?! Remember that! No relationship!"
The girls were taken aback by her sudden appearance and quickly fell silent, cautiously observing Flora's blazing anger.
After five seconds of silence, one bold girl let out a cold hum and said, "If there is, there is! Why don't you just admit it? I'm not wrong. Mr. Kevin must have been blind to choose you..."
The girl's words came to a sudden stop as a figure entered the room. All the girls turned towards the direction of the door and involuntarily shrank back. With a hint of fear in their eyes, they stared at the newcomer.
Alma Brown glanced at the group and counted the number of people with her finger. In a calm tone, she said, "None of you need to come to work tomorrow. Go to the finance office in a while to settle your wages. I will inform the finance department to stay a bit later."
"Miss Alma," the girls whispered, anxiously looking at her. "Miss Alma, please... We were just joking with Irma. Right, Irma?" All eyes turned to Flora, hoping she could say something positive.
Alma remained expressionless and said, "There's no need for you to explain further. This is Mr. Kevin's decision. Irma, come with me." Miss Alma finished speaking and turned towards the door.
Miss Alma was livid, as she hadn't expected these girls to have such audacity to spread rumors and cause trouble in the company, especially targeting the top individual!
The girls rushed out of the changing room and shockingly discovered that Kevin and Mark were standing in the corridor. They must have heard every single word they said.
The girls, who had intended to plead their case, were scared into silence by Kevin's icy presence. They dared not say a word and quickly retreated into the changing room.
"Sorry, Mr. Kevin. I will make sure to properly train the employees in their behavior and conduct from now on," Miss Alma apologized to Kevin, feeling unlucky.
It was unfortunate that she happened to overhear the rumors about Kevin and Flora being spread inside. Kevin's face immediately turned dark, and he announced on the spot that these girls needed to be dealt with by tomorrow!
"As long as Miss Irma thinks it's all right, I don't mind," Kevin said, looking at Flora, whose face had turned pale. His gloomy expression suddenly changed, and an evil smirk appeared on his face. Yes, he didn't mind. However, judging from Flora's yelling just now, it seemed like she did mind a lot.
"Uh..." Alma hesitated, her gaze sweeping between Kevin and Flora's faces, unsure of how to respond.
"I don't mind..." Flora gritted her teeth and said as if it didn't bother her!
Who wouldn't mind being misunderstood and gossiped about like this? Should she even consider it an honor? Seeing Kevin's smirking expression, she felt he was asking for a slap! Of course, he wouldn't mind, as rich men always keep mistresses. It's an honor to have multiple!
"If it's all right, then let's go," Kevin said, reaching out to grab Flora's shoulder and leading her toward the elevator without looking back. He nonchalantly said to Mark and Alma, "Mr. Mark, Miss Alma, you can leave early. See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow..." Miss Alma waved her hand towards their retreating figures until she could no longer see them. She couldn't help but mutter, "Do they really have a relationship?"
"If you don't want to be packed up and sent home like those women, then please keep your mouth shut," Mark said, looking at her coldly. With an annoyed tone, he turned and walked in the opposite direction.
Alma chuckled and caught up with him, holding onto his arm, "Of course, I don't want that. I want to work here with you," she said, using the excuse of wanting to be with him when in reality, she was monitoring him.
Mark sneered and quietly withdrew his arm from her embrace.
He wasn't comfortable with such intimacy with her, even though they had been married for a while. He still didn't want to publicly appear with his wife like a regular man would. Alma had noticed this a long time ago and had been trying hard to change him, but unfortunately, she had little success. Perhaps he was afraid of being seen by Chloe, Alma thought helplessly.
