Chapter 114: Chapter 114
Chiyoko left the hotel and checked the time. Maxwell should be getting off work soon, so she planned to get to the Smith Family Mansion before he got home. At the very least, she couldn't let him know that she had been out, especially if she had met with someone from the Yota Gang!
Back at the Smith Family Mansion, Chiyoko stayed anxiously until late, only hearing Maxwell's car pull into the yard. Then she heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Seizing the opportunity, she rushed into his room as he entered, embracing him from behind.
Maxwell was startled, and he lowered his head to see the small, pure white hand tightly gripping his waist. Expressionless, he said, "Chiyoko Tokugawa, if you insist on staying at the Smith Family Mansion, please try your best to not appear in front of me!"
"Maxwell..." Chiyoko completely ignored his warning and pressed her face against his back, her voice choked with sadness. "Maxwell, you're finally back. I'm so glad you're okay!"
Maxwell pulled her hands off him, turned around, and stared at her coldly, "Did you think something happened to me? Huh? Chiyoko Tokugawa?"
Chiyoko sniffed, looking up at him with a guilty voice, "I read the newspaper today and I knew that those two were from the Yota Gang. They attacked you, right?"
Maxwell glared at her, observing her teary-eyed and pitiful appearance, with a cold smile playing at the corner of his mouth. Wasn't she the one who orchestrated this? She looked so innocent!
"Maxwell, I begged my uncle for a long time and he finally agreed not to kill you. Bu for me to have a happy life, my uncle insisted on getting rid of all the women around you. Maxwell... why are you so foolish? My uncle finally agreed not to kill you, so why would you risk your life to save a woman?" Chiyoko cried, performing with great authenticity.
Blaming everything on Itou Tokugawa was the best way to salvage the situation, and it seemed to be working. Maxwell's face no longer appeared cold but rather had a slight surprise as he carefully observed her, remaining silent.
Maxwell had always found it strange that Philip had been so active in trying to kill him, but in recent days, it had been quiet. So Chiyoko had pleaded with him on his behalf, and could it be that she really had nothing to do with yesterday's incident? Her every word, every expression, was enough to make everyone believe that Flora's situation had nothing to do with her!
Seeing that her acting was having some effect, Chiyoko continued to cry even harder. This time, she didn't embrace him from behind but threw herself into his arms. Sobbing uncontrollably, she said, "Maxwell, I don't want you to die. I love you! Please take care of yourself for me."
Although she didn't have confidence in persuading Itou Tokugawa, she wouldn't give up. Even though she was acting, every word was sincere. She just couldn't bear to see him die. She truly loved him!
Maxwell felt the warmth of her tears on his chest. The suspicions he had earlier gradually dissipated in her tears. Her feelings for him were genuine, and he could feel it. He couldn't find a reason to doubt her words. After all, her words were faultless, and he had indeed been safe these past few days!
"I can take care of my own life." Maxwell gently pushed her away, staring at her with a warning tone. "I hope this truly has nothing to do with you, or else... you can imagine the consequences."
"What do you mean, Maxwell?" Chiyoko looked at him with tearful eyes, a mix of confusion and anxiety on her face. "Are you suspecting that I orchestrated this? Maxwell... I didn't. You can investigate, it really has nothing to do with me!"
She was truly worried now. Maxwell was indeed suspecting her. She didn't know if her disguise had worked or not, but she hoped Maxwell would stop doubting her; otherwise, she wouldn't be able to stay at the Smith Family Mansion!
"Well, that's best." Maxwell saw her desperation, smirked, and then said, "Thank you for pleading with Itou Tokugawa on my behalf. Now leave, I need to take a shower."
Chiyoko breathed a sigh of relief. Did his words mean that he believed her? That's great! Instead of leaving, she reached her hands to the buttons of Maxwell's shirt and took the initiative to unbutton it.
Looking at him affectionately, she whispered, "Let me help you, Maxwell. I am your fiancée, let me take care of your daily life, okay?"
Maxwell grabbed her hands and moved them away from his chest, staring at her expressionlessly, "Miss Chiyoko, I think I made it clear that I won't accept a fiancée who has a physical relationship with another man."
Chiyoko panicked and explained with an apology, "Maxwell, Oliver and I..."
"Leave!" Maxwell coldly interrupted her, not wanting to hear her excuses.
Chiyoko froze, looking at his indifferent and grim face, feeling both desperate and helpless.
A year ago, her momentary impulse, the affair with Oliver, had caused such a serious problem. Thinking about the physical transactions with Philip these past few days, she started to feel a chill in her heart, not knowing if revealing it to Maxwell would lead to her immediate death!
But now, would Maxwell still care if she had a relationship with another man? After all, he would probably never want anything to do with her again. Chiyoko thought bitterly and silently turned around, walking towards the door, leaving his bedroom!
