Chapter 107: Chapter 107

"Oh, where is she? I'll take a taxi right away," said Flora, not expecting that the girl would be with Mark. This was Chloe's habit, she was determined not to let men accompany her home, no matter how drunk she was!

"At the Lulu Bar near the company, Room 303."

"Okay, you wait there, I'll go right now," Flora said, quickly hanging up the phone. Turning to Linda, she said, "You can go to sleep, I'll go and bring that girl back."

"I'll go with you," Linda sat up from the bed, rubbing her eyes.

Flora shook her head indifferently, "No need, I can go by myself, it's not very far."

"You're pregnant now, your status is different, for safety's sake, let me accompany you," Linda said while changing clothes.

Flora didn't insist anymore, and so after changing clothes, the two of them quietly slipped out of the house without disturbing Auntie Grace.

In the study of the Smith Family mansion, Maxwell stared at the softly creaking door with a frown. It was the woman he didn't want to see again! Just by listening to the gentle knocking sound, he could tell it was that clingy Chiyoko.

Without waiting for his permission, Chiyoko pushed open the door and walked in, placing a glass of milk in front of Maxwell. She expressed concern, "Maxwell, it's almost midnight, it's time to go to bed."

"I know, you can go to sleep," Maxwell replied without looking up, not even glancing at her perfectly shaped figure, dressed in very little clothing. However, the alluring scent coming from her successfully drifted into his nostrils. Oh, the midnight temptation!

Unfortunately, the sound of knocking came again from the door, causing Chiyoko, who was standing in front of Maxwell, to straighten her posture. With a mix of annoyance and gratitude, she looked towards the newcomer. It was because of his arrival that Maxwell lifted his head from his desk, even though he only caught a glimpse of her in his peripheral vision, she already felt satisfied. On the other hand, she resented his intrusion, interrupting her chance to be alone with Maxwell.

"Hi, Big Young Master, Miss Chiyoko." Darren respectfully greeted them, his gaze only briefly landing on Chiyoko before he dared not to look at her again. With such a hot figure, any normal man would become abnormal just by looking at her.

"What brings you here so late?" Maxwell stared at him and asked.

"Um…" Darren hesitated with his mouth partially open, looking like he wanted to say something but stopped.

Maxwell glanced at Chiyoko, and she smiled understandingly and said, "You guys talk, I'll go out first." With that, she walked out with a disgruntled pace.

Only then did Darren take a step forward and calmly state, "Big Young Master, we just received news from our guys. Philip intends to assassinate Miss Flora."

Maxwell was taken aback, his eyes instantly became sharp and focused on him.

"Why?" he asked.

Darren lowered his gaze apologetically and said, "The reason is still unclear at the moment, our guys are investigating." After a moment of silence, he looked up again and cautiously continued, "Philip suddenly changed his target these past few days and turned his attention to Miss Flora instead of you, Big Young Master. It is indeed quite peculiar. What do you think?"

He didn't say anymore because he didn't know if he should say the next words. After all, it was only his guess.

Maxwell saw his hesitant and evasive behavior, and sneered, "You mean this might be related to Miss Chiyoko, right?"

Darren was slightly surprised, a slight discomfort flashing across his usually calm face, and he said, "If you say there is no connection, then there is none."

"Darren," Maxwell called out with a hint of displeasure, "in the future, just say what you want to say. You should know that I don't like to hear half-truths."

Darren was startled for a moment, then quickly replied, "Yes, Big Young Master." He used to boldly say whatever he wanted to say in the past, but this time it involved Big Young Master's fiancee, so he hesitated temporarily.

"What are their plans at the moment?" Maxwell lazily leaned back on his chair, his handsome face unable to hide his concern. Yes, he was worried about Flora. He had witnessed Philip's cruelty before, and a weak woman would not be able to escape his clutches!

"Tonight, Miss Flora just went out, and Philip intends to take advantage of this opportunity."

As soon as Darren finished speaking, Maxwell suddenly stood up from the leather chair, staring at him, and asked, "What did you say? Now?"

"Yes." Darren nodded, surprised by his exaggerated reaction. He wondered when he had become so nervous about Miss Flora. Wasn't he always tormenting and bullying her before?

In his bewilderment, Maxwell's even more surprising behavior unfolded. He coolly made his way around the desk and grabbed the black firearm hidden in the corner cabinet, like a whirlwind.

Darren was startled as he chased after him and urgently said, "Big Young Master, I can call someone to protect Miss Flora." Staring at the empty hallway, Darren had to pause his words. He wanted to say that it was dangerous outside, and there was no need for him to intervene!

In less than two minutes, the sound of a car engine came from outside and quickly dissipated into the night at an astonishing speed.

Darren sighed helplessly and started walking downstairs. Just a few steps later, he was startled by a figure that suddenly appeared in front of him. Looking up and realizing it was Chiyoko, he politely greeted her and prepared to pass her and continue downstairs.

"Mr. Darren, where is Maxwell going so late?" Chiyoko called out to him, her face clearly showing panic.

Darren saw this and became more convinced that his speculation was indeed related to her.

"Miss Chiyoko, I'm truly sorry, but Big Young Master instructed not to reveal his whereabouts to anyone, at any time," Darren politely and firmly refused. After apologizing, he bowed slightly to her and quickly walked away.

Chiyoko glared at his disappearing figure with anger, but after the anger settled, she felt endless panic and worry. It seemed that the secret was out, and she had to call Philip immediately to stop him!

With that in mind, Chiyoko hurried into her bedroom, and tremblingly picked up the phone, but no matter how she dialed, Philip's phone was unreachable. She couldn't find him at all! Feeling desperate, she collapsed to the floor. She hoped Maxwell wouldn't know it was her doing. He already hated her enough, she couldn't let him have any more prejudice against her!

Most importantly, she couldn't let Maxwell get into trouble. Philip might impulsively harm him!
