Chapter 106: Chapter 106

Seeing Kevin in such a tortured state, Mrs. Davis couldn't help but scold, "Look at you, so miserable. It's just letting you get to know Betsy better. If you think she's nice, then have a good relationship with her."

"Mom..." Kevin couldn't stand it and exclaimed, "Didn't I tell you? Don't worry about these things. Fate is not something you can force. Let me find it on my own."

"Letting you find it on your own? I've been hearing you say this for a while now, and you still haven't found a girlfriend!" Mrs. Davis glared at him with dissatisfaction, paused for a moment, and continued, "If you don't get to know them, how do you know if you don't like them? Fate is something you need to take control of yourself and also let others play a role. Stop always disregarding it."

"Mom, I understand. I'll pay attention." Kevin nodded, answering as efficiently as always.

Mrs. Davis naturally knew that he was just trying to appease her, so continued, "Remember to come back early tomorrow night for dinner. I invited Mr. Lee and his family to our house for a meal."

Upon hearing these words, Kevin was angry. Instinctively, he refused, "I have a meeting the day after tomorrow, and I won't make it in time. So, Mom, you go and have dinner with them yourself."

"You!" Mrs. Davis became furious. "What's the use of me having dinner with them? You are the protagonist, and they mainly want to see you." Mrs. Davis finished speaking, scrutinizing him with a suspicious gaze, and suddenly asked, "I heard that you've been getting close to a girl named Irma Brown recently, and she is Maxwell's woman!"

Kevin froze, not expecting her to suddenly mention Flora. He felt a little uneasy and touched his nose, saying, "It's just work-related interaction, nothing like what the outside world is saying."

"Better be that way." Mrs. Davis said.

Kevin looked at her, puzzled, and asked, "Mom, I remember you have always been interested in things regarding the Smith Family. Shouldn't you encourage me to get her?"

"Um..." Mrs. Davis muttered, shaking her head. "Yes, I hate the Smith Family, but I shouldn't take it out on your marriage. It's better for you to stay away from her." She felt sorry for how she had manipulated Kevin into his current state and didn't want to ruin his marriage. After all, Kevin's wife would be also a member of the Davis family.

"Mom, you're really nice," Kevin praised through gritted teeth. He would rather have his mother ask him to steal Flora, just like how he would steal clients from the Smith Family Group. It was better than being scared away from home by a bunch of beautiful women every day.

"Oh, by the way, Mom, I don't think it's good to always work at the hotel. So I want to set up an office at the W City branch. What do you think?" Kevin looked at her and asked.

Mrs. Davis was taken aback and blurted out, "Do you want to stay in W City? Not going back to Germany?" This was not part of her plan! After all, his identity was special, and he couldn't stay in W City all the time, especially so close to the Smith Family estate!

"Mom, I'll listen to you. It doesn't matter where I am," Kevin said indifferently, whether it was Germany or W City. His life revolved around the Davis family business, so it was the same wherever he was.

"Well… that's good," Mrs. Davis breathed a sigh of relief. Although Kevin had always been obedient to her, there were some things he might not listen to her about. He was always decisive. It was also because of his strong opinions and exceptional capabilities that she handed over the position of CEO to him three years ago.

Mrs. Davis had been holding up the Davis family business all these years, but three years ago, she finally decided to hand over the entire business to Kevin and started to travel and enjoy her life.

She thought for a moment, sighed, and said, "For now, let's just make do. After we settle the matters with the branch, we can return to Germany. We've gotten used to living there, and it's still better there." In her heart, she was vaguely afraid of something and yet hopeful for something.

"Okay, I'll continue to work at the hotel then," Kevin said, thinking that it wasn't so bad there after all. In his free time, he could still tease the girl who always treated him like a cat.

Mrs. Davis nodded, urging him with concern, "Hmm, go upstairs and rest early. Don't overwork yourself during regular hours."

Flora changed into a snow-white dress, carefully admiring herself in the mirror. She wondered if she looked so bad that Maxwell treated her like this.

Although she couldn't compare to Chiyoko, she still looked pretty good. She couldn't help but wonder if that rotten man's eyes were blinded by a caterpillar.

"Flora, go to bed early and remember that you're pregnant!" Auntie Grace's urging voice came from the doorway countless times.

Flora let out an "Oh" towards the door, answering loudly but with no intention of obediently going to sleep.

Linda, who claimed to have read a horror novel last night and insisted on sharing her bed, gave Flora a disdainful look and said, "Are you done yet? I already said the dress looks beautiful and suits you. Stop getting carried away."

"Do I look carried away?" It was anger! Flora angrily sat on the bed and grabbed the pair of scissors on the table. With a swift motion, she cut the beautifully crafted dress into shreds.

Linda was startled by her actions and exclaimed, causing her drowsiness to dissipate.

"Flora, what's gotten into you? Why did you cut it? It was a one-night stand gift from Kevin!"

"You thought the rumors in the hotel weren't spreading enough, didn't you?" Flora glared at her, rolling her eyes and cursing. Her hands kept moving, and soon, the perfectly fine dress was reduced to a pile of rags.

As she cut, she thought indignantly in her heart: It was Miss Chiyoko's clothes, she didn't want it! As for the dress from that bad man Maxwell, she didn't want it!

"Are you saying you didn't spend last night with Kevin?" Linda looked at her with a suggestive look, smirking.

"So what if we did? Does spending the night together mean we had sex?" Flora snapped irritably. She hadn't told anyone who she spent last night with or what they did. It was too embarrassing to say out loud!

"Hmph, I don't believe Kevin is that incapable," Linda scoffed, clearly showing her disbelief.

Flora couldn't be bothered to argue with her. She was afraid that if she accidentally let slip who she spent last night with, this gossip-loving girl would pester her to meet Maxwell.

After tossing the pile of scraps into the trash can, Flora patted off the fabric remnants from her body and was about to lie down and sleep. Suddenly, her phone rang from somewhere in the corner, and Flora began to search for it.

"I bet it's Chloe passed out from drinking again," Linda yawned sleepily, starting to doze off.

After a struggle, Flora finally found her phone from the corner of the bed and hurriedly answered, "Hello? Who is this?" Calling her so late, could it be Chloe?

On the other end of the phone, Mark's voice sounded a little anxious, "Hello, is this Irma? It's Mark."

Flora was taken aback and asked in surprise, "Mr. Mark, what's the matter so late?" Chloe had said she was going out for drinks with her college friends. Strange!

Mark sighed and said helplessly, "Chloe got drunk and she's refusing anyone to take her home. She's insisting that you come and pick her up... I'm sorry for bothering you so late." The usually polite Mark apologized with regret in his voice.
