Chapter 84: Chapter 84

Show Me
Landon.
One week ago.
I walked down the red carpet into the building and I looked around, trying to find which table to sit at.
Cartel Health and Fitness was not going to be handling much of the project so I was here alone. My dad's personal assistant also couldn't come as he needed to be with my dad during his business trips.
"You can sit with us at our table." Someone said behind me as if the person understood my predicament. I turned around and saw that it was the Managing director from Rivera Consolidated, Mr........
"Viktor. I'm Viktor," he said and I nodded. Do Hybrids have a mind reading ability that I don't know of?? I doubt that.
He gestured at a table and I followed him there, sitting next to him and another woman.
"This is Kara, the Secretary. Kara, this is Mr. Cartel and he's representing Cartel Health and Fitness," Viktor quickly did the introductions and he pulled out his phone, directing his attention to it.
I have spent those two minutes with him plus all the meetings we had together and I have noticed that he always detaches himself from people.
And he doesn't seem introverted.
Dante and Nathan soon arrived and I waited for the Gala to be over so I could go home.
I came here today because I already promised my dad that I would handle everything in his absence.
Isn't that Mr. RedWood from Maverick Corps?" Kara asked and I looked at the table she was looking at to see Javier RedWood.
He lead the Mystic Fangs Clan with his brother, what the hell was he doing here.
Wait. Maverick Corps?? Does that mean we will be working with him? Because nothing good ever happens whenever Mystic Fangs Vampires are involved.
"Yes, he is here," Dante replied nonchalantly and he dropped his wine glass on the table.
I glanced at Viktor and I noticed that he seemed uncomfortable. Was it because Javier was mentioned.
He was staring at Javier and I looked over my shoulder but Javier wasn't even looking here.
"Excuse me," Viktor said, dropping his wine glass on the table and standing up.
I felt that something was off with the way he behaved when Javier's name was mentioned. He seemed bothered and it piqued my curiosity. I was worried too.
"I need to use the restroom," I said and I stood up. I saw him go in the direction of the restroom so I went there and just as I expected, he was there.
His palms were on the marble slab and he was facing down. I could hear his tense breathing and the rapid beating of his heart.
"I walked up to a sink and I opened the tap to wash my hand and as I expected, it got his attention and he raised up his head.
I could have sworn that I saw his eyes were a fiery red color, but it was only for split second and I assumed it was the reflection of light.
"You were breathing heavily, are you okay?" I asked and I switched off the tap.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. I just needed a place to breathe and think," he replied in assurance, even though his eyes said an entirely different thing.
"Personal issues??"
"Yeah, you can say that," he replied with a nod and he was about to walk past me, but I stopped him.
"Is it something about Mr. Redwood??" I asked and he stopped walking. He turned around to face me and he had an unreadable expression.
"Why do you say that??" He asked.
"You seemed disturbed when his name was mentioned," I replied and he nodded, gulping.
"We need to go, they are waiting for us," he said and he walked out of the restroom before I could stop him.
The last time I talked to him was when he came with Dante to the Gemini Pack Ceremony and because Dante mentioned that he was a Hybrid, I was curious about how he came to be.
I asked him about his family, but he avoided answering the question just like he did now so what connection could he have with Javier. Knowing that Javier was a dick, he had probably done something to hurt Viktor or someone he knows.

Luckily for me, I got another chance to talk to Viktor alone. I was at the Gym when he came in to show me so documents for the agreement.
"Alright. I'll send it to the lawyer to go through it," I replied with a smile and I dropped it at the corner of my desk.
Viktor nodded and he stood up to leave. I quickly stood up and stopped him before he could open the door.
"You still haven't told me what is your deal with Javier RedWood," I said and he slowly took his hand off the doorknob, turning around to face me.
He sighed loudly and he put his hands in his pocket.
"I do not really want to talk about it," he replied and while a part of me told me to mind my business and let him go, another part of me was concerned and wanted to know why he seemed so affected by Javier's presence at the Gala. I walked away from behind the desk and stood in front of him.
"Are you rather going to bottle it up inside and let it continue tormenting and affecting you?" I asked him and walked closer to me. He kept walking towards me till we were two steps away from each other.
"I know that your concern may be genuine, but there are a lot of things that you do not understand," he said softly and he swallowed.
"Things that I cannot explain with words of mouth because they are either too heavy to say or sensitive for me," He added with a pained expression that made me even more curious and worried.
I nodded and I took a step closer to him, staring into his bright blue eyes.
"Then show me."
