Missing

Natasha.

A minute later, Kayla was finally out of the castle and she sighed with her palms rested on her waist. She hurriedly took off the cloak and kept it by a tree before putting on her mask, a white mask studded with sapphires.

She looked around and gritted her teeth in frustration. She hardly knew anywhere or which way to head.

Her father's fault

The street was crowded with people wearing mask and her lips curled up into a smile that couldn't be seen from behind her mask. They were all probably attending the ball too and she would follow them.

In ten minutes, they were at the venue of the ball and Kayla walked into the huge hall, filled with hundreds of people dressed in beautiful clothes and masks of all colors.

She walked to a table and sat down as waiters and waitresses began setting down all sorts of delicacies and drinks on the tables.

Every second, it seemed that another waiter and waitress brought a new dish. This was in addition to the dozens of servers who circled around, constantly refilling everyone's glasses.

Kayla seemed most mesmerized by the Mozart, she didn't understand classical music, but it was obvious that he played with a passion and skill unlike any other. The man was on fire, music seemed to stream right from his fingertips. The doors to the huge halls were left wide open and people continually streamed in and out.

A huge clock rang as it struck 5:00 pm and a set of double doors opened on the far side of the hall leading to a large ball room. Kayla got up and hurried with the crowd towards the ball room. The ball room was much like the hall. It had black and white tiled marble floor, a massive fireplace, chandeliers filled with burning candles and gold mirrors on every wall, reflecting the light and making the room seem even bigger than it was.

There were sea of bodies all wearing mask and Kayla became nervous as the music began. Mozart sat at the far end of the room, sitting on a small dais as he began playing the harpsichord. As he did, cellists and violinists joined in. It was an upbeat formal waltz.

A set of four lines formed on opposite sides on the room and everyone paired off, grabbed each other and waltzed in the wide circles. The music changed to a much faster one and the room transitioned into a new dance, one which couples danced with each other and then, switched off; each person dancing with someone new every few steps.

Kayla joined in the dance, switching partners every three dance steps. There was always a new hand, new shoulder and every new person had an elaborate mask than the other. As she began to cross the dance floor, a new music started up - a slower and more romantic one, and partners began pairing off again.

Kayla tried to remain with each partner a bit longer, but anyone grabbed anyone they could find. With her partners being switched every few seconds, she was already at the other side of the room when it happened.

As her hands touched those of her current partner, an electric chill ran through her spines.

A fascinating thrill.

Kayla froze as she came in contact with the man, an electric thrill flashing through her. She looked into his eyes beneath his golden mask and it felt like she was going to get drowned in a beautiful ocean of blue. She could barely take in more of him or even continue dancing when her dance partner was suddenly exchanged.

I felt forcefully pulled out of the fictional world I was diving myself into as I heard a loud knock on the door.

"What the...." Fucking Hell. I completed the sentence in my mind as I didn't know who it was.

The knock was so loud so if I didn't know better, I'd say that it was Dante.

I woke up this morning with a strange bad feeling, but knowing there was probably nothing to worry about, I decided to distract myself by starting a new book.

The person knocked on the door again and I sighed, standing up. I made a mental note of the page I was reading and I hurried to the door, opening the door.

My forehead slightly creased into a frown as I saw that it was Killian. Why was he here.

"Sorry, have you seen the Alpha?" Killian asked and I slowly let go of the door, confused by the question.

"Dante- no, I haven't seen him today," I replied and Killian looked a bit worried getting me curious.

"Why? What's the matter?" I asked and I saw him hesitate for a while before finally talking.

"No one has seen him and Nathan since they left yesterday," Killian replied and I got worried immediately.

The bad feeling that I had tried to distract myself from finally came back again.

I could help the feeling that something bad had happened to Dante.

"That doesn't sound good, we have to find him," I said and Killian briefly gave me an indifferent look.

"I'll handle it, never mind," he said and he was about to walk away, but I stopped him.

"No wait, I can help you with this," I said and I walked after him, closing the door to my room.

"She's so stubborn. Who the hell is she?" I heard Killian say, but his lips weren't moving.

Oh. I just read his mind and I didn't mean to which means he has a weak mind. That wasn't any of my business, Dante was missing and needed to be found.

"They mentioned that they wanted to track down a woman so we can start by finding out who the woman is and where she was tracked down to," I said and Killian turned around to face me, giving me a nod to continue.

"Before that, I heard Dante giving Nathan instruction to have some people track down the picture of a woman," I added, hoping he could find out something from the information I just gave him.

"Good. I'll find out who Nathan sent to track her and we'll know where they went.
