Chapter 135: Chapter 135

Fear

Dante.

One Months Later.

I climbed down from the car, walking onto the red carpet next to Natasha who was wearing in a long scarlet dress that had a short flowery train.

Last time we came together, it was all planned and the press had definitely been mind wiped so I expected to hear the same questions all over again.

"Mr. Rivera, what do you think about the protests against the estate project?" A reporter asked loudly going after me from the sides of the red carpet with a microphone.

"Do you think this concerns could be related to the sudden suicide of Secretary Carson?"

"Miss Wolfe, there are rumours that you do not have a college education. Can you talk about this?"

After Viktor suddenly left the city, Nathan refused to take over as managing director and he also let Natasha be my personal assistant in his stead.

"What is your relationship with Mr. Rivera?"

I glanced at Natasha who held on to her purse confidently. The anxiety she always had was gone now after several meetings and public appearances.

"Mr Rivera, Miss Wolfe, nice to see you," Mr. Xander greeted with a smile as we walked into the hall.

Well, I guess Viktor's compulsion is very well still active.

"There," Natasha said and I looked up at the table where Kara was seated.

I walked up to the table and I sat down.

"Luther is here," Natasha whispered and I muttered, "what?"

I looked up and saw Luther walk up to our table with a glass of wine in his hand and an elaborare smile on his face.

What the fuck was he doing here? Don't tell me he has another plan to disrupt the Gala.

"Look who we have here today," Luther said with a smile and dropped his glass of wine on our table.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Rivera," Javier said with a fake smile and then leaned towards Kara.

"Go get yourself something to drink, will you?" He compelled Kara and she nodded, standing up and leaving.

Luther sat in Kara's seat and sighed satisfactorily.

"Why are you here, Luther?" I asked with a glare and he chuckled.

"Calm down, I'm not going to compell the entire hall to start killing themselves a drink or something," He replied.

"I'm here for the same reason you are. I happened to compell one of the small projects for Maverick Corps," he added and I rolled my eyes.

"I tried to compell Xander to step down and hand over the project to us, but it didn't work."

"Strange right?" He raised his eyebrows questionably and gulped down the wine in his glass.

"I wonder if someone had already gotten into his head already to bag a deal," he said ominously and I sighed.

"What are you really doing here Luther?" I asked.

"I promise, I'm not here to cause trouble. It's not like I'd like to get revenge on those who killed my brother and Grandfather," he said sarcastically and I faked smile.

"Yeah, especially when it'll means fighting someone who beat your demonic brother," Natasha said and Luther waved before walking away.

I stared at Luther as he walked away, I couldn't be at rest now knowing that this asshole is going to be anywhere near me.

"He's not going to do anything here, but he's definitely feeling Vengeful," Natasha said.

"We've established that you have a dual personality, we just have to find out how to switch," I said, watching as Natasha and Nathan sparred..

"We've ruled out free will and anger, what else is there to try?" Nathasha asked and she bent down to avoid Nathan's fists.

QqNathan raised his left knee immediately, kicking her up her jaw.

The kick raised her into the air and she fell to the ground with a loud thud and grunt.

"Pain," I replied and she shook her head as she stood up on her feet.

"No, no."

"But we have to try anything. You'll heal again," I said, standing up from my chair.

Natasha tried to punch Nathan, but he grabbed her fist and twisted.

She yelped in pain, but he continued twisting until he flipped her over in the air.

She kicked him away as soon as her hand was free and she rubbed her wrists.

"What's the point of all this by the way?" Natasha asked in frustration..

"It's just training. You need to be able to defend and attack like the rest of us," I replied.

"I don't need it, I can just turn to a wolf," She retorted.

"What if something happens and you suddenly can't turn at will, or if your wolf abilities are dampened with wolfsbane?" I asked.

"I still have Vampire and Magical abilities."

"Abilities that your alter-ego can use, and you still have no idea how to manifest as that part of yourself," I replied and shrugged.

She rolled her eyes and she charged at Nathan again, she zoomed behind him and tried to hit him, but he turned around swiftly and dodged the fist coming for him.

He threw his two fists at her, but she caught it and tried twisting him like he did before, but she couldn't successfully lift him off the ground..

While she was struggling, Nathan stepped on her feet forcefully and she retreated backward..

"Even if it's pain, we don't know how much pain I have to take before manifestating as The Tribrid," Natasha said, "and I can't let myself go through pain for something uncertain."

"What if the only way the Tribrid can manifest is when I temporarily die?" Nathasha asked, but I was convinced that wasn't possible.

If not pain, then what else. Fear.

How can I make her afraid without her being ready for it. I stopped to think and I got an idea about how I could.

I put my hands behind my back and I secretly pulled out a dagger.

As soon as I showed my hand, I immediately tossed the dagger at Natasha, watching as the dagger whizzed right through the air at her.
