Chapter 65: Chapter 65

Lily got down from the car and followed Adrian inside the hotel. As soon as the two walked inside all the staffs lined up to greet them.

Everyone seemed shocked to see their boss with a beautiful lady.

Adrian held Lily's hand and went to the private elevator and pressed the 24th floor button.

"Why are we going to the restaurant?", Lily asked in confusion. Adrian turned to her with a blank look and said in a sarcastic tone, "To do some shopping."

Lily rolled her eyes at his not so funny sarcasm.

Once they reached their destination, they got out of the elevator and Adrian once again held her hand as he took her to the private room of the restaurant without acknowledging the manager who was standing there to greet them.

Once they reached the private room, the two of them settled on their chairs. Lily looked out of the window and saw the beautiful city lights while her eyes shined with the brightness of the lights.

"You like the view?", Adrian asked when he noticed the faint smile on her face. Lily nodded without saying a word to him as her eyes were stuck to the view. She loved it.

"I don't mean to disturb you but we are here to eat not watch the lights", Adrian said while leaning his chin on his hand that was on the table. Lily quickly turned to him and noticed the ring in his hand.

Her brows furrowed together when she looked at the ring in her finger.

'When did he put it on my finger? And why does this look similar?'

As if reading her mind, he answered her untold question, "I put it on your finger last night when you were sleeping."

"Oh."

After a few seconds, the waiter came to take order.

"You can order whatever you like", Adrian said to her while placing his order. Lily nodded and placed her order.

After the waiter left, it was all quiet as Lily put her attention on the lights while Adrian kept staring at her. Lily noticed his burning gaze on her but ignored it for a while before she finally voiced her words out.

"Can you stop staring at me?", she said in an annoyed tone. Adrian didn't give any reaction instead he shamelessly kept staring at her which annoyed her more.

Lily took her handbag and used to it as a barrier to cover her face which made him laugh. "Stop laughing." She was beyond annoyed by this man.

Ugh! She shouldn't have agreed to marry him.

Slowly Adrian stretched his hand and took tha bag away from her face. "Do you wish for your husband to look at other women if not you?", he asked raising his brows while one side of his lips slightly curved up.

"Who cares!"

"Oh. You don't care if I stare at other women? My apology", he said in a neutral tone which made Lily think he might now say he would go stare at other women since Sam used to say the same but his next sentence surprised her.

"My apology that I can't other find other beautiful woman as my wife so I might as well want to stare at my wife."

"So cheesy", Lily said and chuckled lightly while Adrian simply shrugged.

'Its not too bad to marry him.'

Soon the dishes arrived and were placed on their table.

"Mrs. Collins, I've a proposal for you", Adrian said in a serious tone while he cut a piece of pork meat and put it in his mouth. Lily gave a nod in acknowledgement as she took a bite of a chicken piece.

"We have a new project of an industrial plant and preparing a petition to sign with an interior design firm. Do you want to sign it? It's a win win for both of us since I'll get my designer and you can get to learn more about technology that will be used", he explained to her in a calm tone.

'Technology.'

"What's the budget?", she asked in a serious tone. "Ninty billions."

Lily didn't seem shocked since she expected such high budget from his company that was on top.

"I don't sign contracts rashly. I'd like to first do an official meeting and read all the documents", Lily said as she looked at his face that was calm. Adrian gave a nod.

"I'll ask my assistant to take appointment and meet you in your office", he said with a small smile. Lily nodded as she liked it that he didn't mind when she denied to sigh the papers right away.

Once they finished their dinner, they left the restaurant and went back home.

Lily quickly freshened up and changed into comfortable clothes then sat on the desk in their room to work while Adrian went to his study room to work.

It was almost midnight by the time the two were done with their.

Lily laid on the bed and moved to the edge which was noticed by Adrian. His lips twitched remembering the previous night where she threw herself on him and even bit him hard and now she was moving away.

"Do you want to fall down?"

Upon hearing his voice, Lily turned to him to find him resting his head on his palm. "I'm allergic to men", she said and turned her back to him only to find a warm hand wrap around her waist and pull her towards him.

Lily felt her heart beat faster when his warm breath touched the skin behind her neck. "You weren't allergic when you were biting me last night, huh?"

His voice came out in a mocking tone but she seemed not affected since she hummed in response and tried to break free from his grip but it was too tight.

Lily frowned when he didn't let her move and turned to face him. Her eyes met his which seemed too mysterious yet calm at the same time. She noticed they weren't cold like always, instead they seemed to have warmth in them and a hint of something she couldn't point out.

"You're making it hard for me to control", he whispered bringing her back to her senses. "Control what?", she asked a bit loud.

Adrian looked at her quietly before he pressed her head on his chest and whispered, "Sleep."

Lily looked up immediately and frowned. "Why are you doing this?"

"Doing what?", he asked looking at her in confusion. "All of this. Whatever you're trying to do", she said in a bit angry tone. Adrian furrowed his brows and realised what she was talking about so he answered, "We are married. I have the right to hug you and kiss you."

"So what? It's just a loveless marriage."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Adrian released his grip from her and stood up.

Lily felt cold as soon as he stood up and walked out of the room. It felt as if she lost all the warmth she had. She felt empty all of a sudden and felt a slight pain in her heart when he walked out of the room but she ignored them.

"Who does he think he is? He can't do as he pleases. I'll kill him the next time he tries to do something", she muttered under her breath.

She sighed deeply once she calmed herself and closed her eyes but couldn't fall sleep. She slept on her stomach to fall asleep faster but she couldn't.

After trying for an hour, she groaned in annoyance since she couldn't fall asleep no matter what.

The next morning, she had dark circles under her eyes. She got up from the bed and took shower then got ready for the day before she went downstairs to have breakfast.

She found that Adrian didn't join them for breakfast and already left for work but he didn't come to the room.

After her breakfast was done, Lily took her car and drove to Sheng mansion. Upon reaching the mansion, Lily hugged her grandfather tightly since she missed him a lot.

"What brings you here so early in the morning, Xiao Li?", the old man asked as he sat on the sofa with her beside him. She explained him whatever happened last night leaving no loophole then asked him.

"Grandfather, did I say anything wrong?"

The old man sighed when he heard from his emotionless granddaughter.

"Xiao Li, you've to remember this man is not that Andres boy. I've known both the kids for many years and I can assure that this boy is better than that Andres boy. I know it was an arranged marriage but give it a try. If anything goes wrong, I'll be there."

Lily stared at her grandfather blankly to which the old man sighed again.

"Answer me. Did he force you to do something you didn't like?"

"..."

"Did he make you unhappy with his words?"

"..."

"Did he look at you with lust in his eyes ever from the day you met?"

"..."

"Do you feel uncomfortable with him around?"

"..."

"Have you ever felt that he is a person who might betray you? Since you know how men do things, you know better to judge."

"..."

It was quiet in the entire mansion as Lily stared at her old man silently.

"I don't feel uncomfortable with him around but it's the other way around and I'm afraid that the same thing might happen like in my last life", she said looking down at her hand.

"Also grandfather, I don't want to lose more people because of a man."

"Xiao Li, listen to me. You won't know unless you give it a try. Just go with the flow and if you feel anything is wrong just come back home. I'll always welcome you with open arms", he said while patting her head.

Lily smiled looking at him but did not say anything. It was hard to read her blank expressions even for the old man, nonetheless, he knew that his granddaughter was strong enough to get through this little issue.
