Chapter 55: Chapter 55
It had been almost ten minutes that Lily kept staring at the person who came a while back. She couldn't believe what she just saw.
Wearing a grey suit, the man looked handsome and indifferent with his facial features. There was a hint of arrogance in his aura and the way he carried himself was full of dominance.
Next to him was a girl around the age of twelve, she looked lost and timid. Lily's heart melted when she saw her child. She so wanted run up to the little girl and hug her tightly but she couldn't given the condition she was in.
Lily quietly stood on the spot as the pair of young man and the little girl walked towards George to wish him and handed the gift to him. Sanna smiled when she saw old master Sheng and George and greeted them elegantly.
Samuel went ahead leaving Sanna behind to talk to some of the businessmen. Sanna stood quietly in the corner as if she was a lost kid. There was a sense of insecurity in her heart and her eyes were longing for something which broke Lily's heart.
Lily looked at Samuel and then at Sanna and felt that he was irresponsible to just leave the little girl over there all alone.
Sanna was quietly looking towards Sam's back when someone patted on her shoulder. She didn't want to talk to anyone at this moment which was also a reason why she didn't go ahead to talk to anyone.
Sanna frowned when she saw Lily smiling at her but Lily didn't mind and instead she bent a little so her face was right in front of Sanna. "Little kid, why are you standing here all alone?", Lily asked with a smile.
"None of your business, go away. You don't have to show gratitude for the sake of my last name", Sanna said in a cold tone. Lily pouted and asked gently, "May I know your last name?"
Sanna looked at the woman and felt that the woman was too ignorant and pretentious. How could someone not know her family name?
When her mother was alive, her mother announced it to the entire world about her and this woman here was saying she didn't know her? Wasn't thag an insult to her mother as well?
"It doesn't concern you", Sanna said and was about to leave when she was pulled back by Lily. "Kiddo, I'm not trying to harm you or anything. Why are you running away? Are you afraid I'll steal your father?", Lily spoke in a gentle way.
"Steal? Hah! Do whatever you want, it doesn't concern me. I despise that man!", Sanna exclaimed hatefully which stunned Lily. She knew the kid was never much close to her father to begin with but the kid did like him since he cared about Jennifer.
Now that she saw how the child reacted, she felt something was off and realised the kid didn't seem to much like her father so she decided to just put away the matter thinking the child was traumatized after her death in her last life.
"Ok, ok. I won't speak of him but you don't have to be wary of me. I won't harm you", Lily said in a soft tone and gave a smile. Sanna looked at Lily and seemed to be in deep thoughts before she gave a nod.
'It wouldn't be bad if she keeps me company until Sam comes. I won't be bored at least and if I feel threatened, I can just call the security. She does look like she comes from a wealthy family so I think it's fine.'
Lily knew what her child was thinking since she good at reading people. She felt like laughing when she saw Sanna scrutinizing her from head to toe but she felt proud that her child knew how to distinguish between good and bad at such young age.
Lily held Sanna's hand and brought her to the table reserved for the Collins and Sheng family. Since Sheng Zhou and George were good friends, the latter prepared for his best friend to sit next to him. There were seven chairs on the table.
The other members of the Collins had seperate tables.
When Sanna saw the name on the table, she was stunned. She looked at Lily who was all smiles while she ordered a servant to bring some snacks and thought if the lady belonged to the Shengs or the Collins.
Since the Collins family had only one young miss who was currently in China for a show and she had seen the lady then this woman was certainly from the Sheng family.
Sanna thought deeply but couldn't remember to have seen this woman in any of the family function or parties of the Sheng family. She took out her phone and started searching but couldn't find a single detail about the woman next to her.
Lily got the plate full of snacks for Sanna and was about to give her when she saw the kid was busy searching about the Sheng family on Google. She chuckled internally and shook her head.
"Kiddo", Lily called out garnering Sanna's attention who quickly put away her phone. She then gave the plate full of sweets and some other snacks to Sanna and spoke in a calm tone.
"I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Lily Sheng, the youngest granddaughter of my grandfather."
Lily felt it was useless to mention her parents and felt it was more better to be called the granddaughter of the old man.
Sanna looked at Lily as she picked up some chips and munched on them while she slowly nodded. "The abandoned one?", Sanna blurted out and suddenly realised what she just said.
Lily smiled and nodded without minding anything to which Sanna was grateful since she least wanted to offend someone in this party given that the Shengs and Andres were almost on the same level when it came to power and wealth.
The two of them talked for a while and Sanna quickly removed her cold facade as she felt Lily was quite reliable. She would laugh when Lily said something funny and smiled at her while the latter treated her like she was the kid's mother which made Sanna feel warm.
In the last few years, she was too depressed after her mother left her and she had to rely on her father and his friends but she missed her mother.
Soon, Lily's grandfather and George came to the table and so did Adrian, Ryan and Aiden. They couldn't recognise the little girl so they gave a confused look except Adrian who had a blank look while he seemed to not give a damn.
"Hello, I'm sorry to have bothered you all. I'm Sanna Andres. I'll take my leave and give you guys some space", Sanna said politely with a bow and was about to leave when Lily held her back.
"Stay here with us. You aren't bothering", Lily said not wanting for the girl to leave already. "This seat is reserved for someone. I shall take my leave. Thank you for taking care of me, aunt", Sanna said and smiled.
Earlier Sanna kept being formal to Lily so she told the girl to call her aunt since Lily was granddaughter of the person whom the kid addressed as great grandfather.
Lily looked at Sanna and didn't want to let go of the little girl's hand. Sanna looked into Lily's eyes and feel something off. This woman had just met her but even she didn't feel like leaving Lily given that she gave off the similar aura as her mother and treated her as if she was her own child.
Just as everyone saw that Lily was reluctant to let go of the child, old master Sheng was about to speak when a calm neutral voice spoke, "Since Noah couldn't make it to the party today, it's fine for you to sit with us."
Everyone turned to look at the person who had spoken for the first time on the table. He was quietly sitting next to Lily with his face void of any emotion and his eyes were clear while his voice was like the spring breeze.
'When did Noah say he couldn't make it? Wasn't he coming in ten minutes?' Aiden thought as he looked at his cousin who didn't bother to say anything else.
Noah was Adrian's cousin. Adrian was the eldest son while Aiden was the second young master followed by Noah and Ryan then the precious young miss of the Collins, Rose.
'Why do I feel that something is off on this table?' Ryan thought as he stared at Lily only to feel goosebumps on his body. When he turned, he met with his brother's terrifying eyes and quickly lowered his head.
