Chapter 53: Chapter 53
It was early morning when Lily drove to the high end commerical area to the west of the city. There were not many top companies in the area and that is what she wanted.
Her black Rolls Royce stopped in front of a distinguished building from any other around. It was the tallest building around with total of 60 floors.
As she walked inside, she looked around carefully and her chest rose in proud. This was her dream building that she bought when she first incarnated into Lily's body. She personally made all the designs in just two days and renovated the place.
The building belonged to JenLi Interiors, her dream company.
She wanted to start her company two years back but due to her illness her plan had to be paused for a while. She went inside and found her assistant, Kylie Johnson.
Yes, Kylie wasn't Lily's imagination but a real person who she chose when she started working on her business plan.
"Good morning, ma'am", Kylie greeted with a bow. Lily gave a nod and walked further as she looked around and found some employees.
Her business was supposed to be on top by now but due to her absence, it still among the progressing companies which Lily didn't like but she didn't mind either since she knew no one could be blamed here.
She went to her office and had a talk with the Vice President, Alex Price then called for an urgent board meeting. As soon as all the board members came, they started talking about how they were being deceived by Lily.
They were guaranteed 100% profit when she started business although she wasn't present, Kylie who represented Lily gave them the reports that Lily prepared and handed her since she would be leaving the country but unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.
"Ms. Johnson, where is the CEO? Is she going to be absent in this meeting as well?", a man in his forties scoffed. "She had been deceiving us for the past years. If this continues, I will withdraw my shares", another man voiced out in anger.
"You wouldn't have the chance, Mr. Davis", came an authoritative voice as Lily walked inside the conference room. Everyone gave a confused look not aware that she was the Chairwoman and CEO of the company.
As Lily came forward and took a seat at the head chair, everyone stood up and bowed to her. Lily gestured them to have a seat only then they sat down on their chairs.
"You all may voice your opinions and issues one by one", Lily ordered as she took a file kept on the table and started reading while she listened to all the issues the members had.
After listening to each and everyone, she finally looked up and spoke, "A few months. Give me a few months, if you don't see any progress, you all are allowed to withdraw your shares and I promise to compensate each one of you if the company doesn't rise."
Everyone looked at each other for a few seconds before they agreed to her since they wouldn't have much loss anyways.
After discussing a few more things and signing some papers, everyone left the conference.
The conference lasted till the lunchtime since it was the first time they were meeting the CEO and personally discussing the plans and reports of the company.
Due to her absence in the company for past years, Lily had a lot of work to do and her desk was pilled up with many files. It took her almost a month to get back to track and her company was already starting to rise up in the industry.
In the coming few months, no one heard from Lily and they thought she was still not back to the country but there was something that got everyone's attention and that was the new rising company named JenLi.
JenLi had gone from barely recognised company to the top in less than half a year which was shock to everyone in the business world. Nobody knew who founded the company or who actually was the CEO but they knew the person was surely capable to have rose the company from bottom to the top in such a less period.
Lily was sitting in her study room which was designed especially for her by the old master so she could work in there. Her work was almost done when she got a notification.
She opened the notification to see it was about a jewellery auction that was to be held next month which was supposed to be Winter collection. She wasn't a person that liked to put on a lot of jewellery unlike other girls but one thing that she loved were bracelets.
She loved wearing beautiful bracelets and each one in her collection were a limited edition ones while some were especially designed only for her. She had one of the best shoes, wristwatch and bracelet collection.
While Lily was busy admiring a few pieces that were already released by the brand, a knock sounded on the door. Once she gave permission to come in, the butler came in and bowed to her before he informed her that the old master called out for her.
Lily nodded and shut down her computer then took her phone and walked out. Although, it was the month of November and was cold outside, the mansion had floor heating system so Lily wore less warm clothes.
She knocked on the door of the study room of her grandfather that was just a couple distance from her study. His study room was to the right side corner of the second floor of the mansion while hers was much near to her room.
"Come in", came his old yet authoritative voice and Lily walked inside without waiting for the butler to help her open the door. As she walked inside, the old man smiled looking at her which have a nice feeling inside.
In the last years, she had grown much closer to the old man especially after the death of his wife who died a few months after Lily was diagnosed. The doctors said the old lady had lost her kidneys and couldn't be cured through dialysis either.
Although the man was devastated after the death of his wife but he didn't leave Lily's side or let her feel any different and took great care of her which made her respect him more than ever and even made him among the top priority in her list.
"Grandfather, you asked for me?", she asked calmly to which he nodded and gestured her to take a seat. Lily sat in front of him and waited for him speak.
"Xiao Li, what were you upto in the last few months? I'm not trying to invade your privacy or doubting you, it's just I'm worried about your health. You have been staying out since morning and didn't speak to anyone much. Are you ok?", he spoke as worry was evident in his tone.
Lily's face had a faint smile when she heard the old man who was so worried about her. Not because his reputation would be tarnished but because he was genuinely worried which made her feel loved and warm inside.
"Don't worry, grandfather. I am fine and you will know know what I was up to. I learnt a lot of things in the mean time and even achieved a few things which I guess would make you happy but it's nothing much", she said as she knew she had yet to achieve a lot of things.
In the past so many months, she did a lot of things besides just putting efforts in the company.
"You didn't even let me celebrate your 20th birthday", he sighed as he remembered the time when he wanted to throw a big party for her birthday but she declined saying she was busy and needed few months before she could start enjoying around a bit.
Lily chuckled as she watched the old man's face scrunch up in a frown. "Grandfather, it's alright. My 21st birthday is around so you can always make your wish come true now and I won't stop you but before my birthday, it's your birthday. Tell me if you have anything in your mind you want from me."
The old man seemed satisfied by her answer and thought for a while about her last sentence before he spoke, "Xiao Li, you haven't received your degree, I'd want you to get that and yes one more thing. I want you to accompany me to a party tomorrow."
"What kind of party, grandfather?", Lily asked curiously as she knew her old man didn't always accept invitation to many parties unless it benefitted him or it was related to his close friends or family and since none of her family member had anything to celebrate she thought the first one was the one this time.
"It's one of my friend's birthday tomorrow so I want you to accompany me there. I haven't been able to go to his birthday in the last two years since you were not well, so I want you to go with me and this will also be your first public appearance after your treatment."
Lily nodded in agreement and thought it was a good thing for her.
"Also, about my graduation, you won't have to worry at all. I've already gotten my degree in the last months when I was busy", she said so as to not worry the old man more.
In the last months, she made sure she studied well and appeared for exams as she graduated within a few months. Since she had been working as a CEO, she didn't needed any training period to show.
