"Hehehe...s...stop it...that's enough"the licking was so much that I couldn't help but laugh. It was ticklish that I turned to get rid of whatever it was and when my hands brushed in fur.

"Tiny?"I was surprised when my eyes opened only to find the brown furry puppy staring at me with cute eyes and when I tried to touch it, it jumped on my chest and licked me again, happiness washed over me

"Hey boy when did you come huh, "I said while lifting it off my chest and raising it in the air it made low sounds and I smiled and tried to sit up

"Oh god...this is a disaster" even getting up was a huge problem all because of my big belly.

"So did the grumpy man bring you back huh...are you fine?"I asked while I checked its little paw to see if it was alright. The last time I saw it, the doctor told us the surgery they did on it was successful and just needed time to heal and now I saw it was even stretching itself. I smiled and hugged it in my chest feeling relieved that the little thing was okay

"You look lovely, your fur is so soft and clean and smells wonderful," I remarked with giggles because it smelled like cherries and lavender. A good combination of fragrances. I guessed the owner loved things that smelled delightful but then again I laughed at myself because I was being silly

"Come let's go out it's already morning," I said when I managed to drag myself out of bed and wore some house slippers. I was still in my loose white dress I loved wearing when going to bed. It wasn't short but just above my knees and my hair which was tied in a bun was loose and strands falling over my first

"Hello, Ms...good morning I'll have everything ready for your doctor's appointment"Julia walked into my talk like she always did when I stopped startled by her barging in. I didn't remember the last time I woke up free with no Julia bugging me. I was exhausted just from sleeping and my tummy made it worse hence I rolled my eyes at her and decided to get some fresh air with the puppy before I left for the appointment. Maverick had taken over again and the Martha lady was rarely seen. I was surprised she never showed up there unless

"Off we go...so little one...where do you think we should look for the grumpy man," I said cradling the little puppy in my arms and it snuggled to my chest innocently. I smiled at how cute the thing was that I just missed it so much. We made our way down the passageway and since my room wasn't upstairs. I was all alone here which made me feel a little lonely

"Mr. Ellison...I wonder if I should call him this...Nah sounds dangerous" I said with a frown then laughed because calling Victor sir was much better than Mr. Ellison which sounded serious like his straight face

"Oh look," I said when I took a left turn and came to an opening. I wasn't expecting to find Victor by the sitting area which was my favorite place to relax. It was by a large glass window facing the beautiful backyard. He seemed to be talking on his phone and why wasn't he dressed up as a scary boss

"Just arrange everything...this is important I'll be leaving in two days if possible"the man said over the phone while running his hand in his hair and I frowned. Was he going somewhere? Maybe a business trip but doctor Maverick wasn't supposed to go anywhere until I gave birth. I was nervous because I was in my final month the most delicate one and Victor himself knew this because he was now like a freak. He never slept until I did. He looked after me more frequently and he came to my room in the middle of the night just to check up on me

I wondered if he got any shut eyes at night

"I'll be there just to make sure I don't find things arranged badly…" the man continued talking and I was not happy. Hearing his conversation it seemed he was going on a business trip. I wanted him here but

"Hey stay...no no you can't bail on me...I brought…'' It was useless keeping the little thing in my possession because immediately it continued hearing its master's voice. She peeked out and wiggled out of my arms. It was too late when I tried to hold it back but it galloped away to Victor and wiggled its tail in front of him like he saw the puppy. He bent down and picked it up with one hand

"Here you go," he said lifting it by the neck and my eyes widened as I failed to stay still and ran to him

"How could you huh...it just recovered and you are mistreating it!"I lashed out and tried to snatch the puppy from him. He was being a fool to "see it's hurt...aww come here baby...he's hurting you" I added when I managed to get him back even when the little one didn't want to. It wasn't happy with me taking it away from its master but I loved it

"Ms. Payton?"Victor said getting my attention and when I made sure the little one was in my arms securely I looked up at him with a frown and he was pointing at his phone

"What?"I asked not sure what he was going on about but the man just sighed

"We'll call you later," Victor said, connecting the phone to his ear and disconnecting it. Only then did I realize he was still on the phone

"Is everything okay...do you feel uncomfortable...have you eaten...come take a seat" every time he asked so many questions and once and forcefully led me to sit and like a fool, I complied and sat comfortably on the sofa and cradled the puppy in my lap

"Aren't you coming, sir...I'm about to leave"I asked, keeping my eyes on the puppy and I played with its ears. He never came with me unless he wasn't so busy but now I knew he wasn't coming

"Ms. Payton, I have a business trip in two days...I won't take long but today I'll be around but I just won't come with you" he said hearing his voice he was calm and collected which made me angry but I didn't have to show my anger other than endure this

"Okay"

"Kyan will escort you...the driver is waiting for you better get ready...I'll inform Maverick" the man said and I had nothing to say to him. He was a busy man and I didn't have to worry.

"Fine," I said letting go of the puppy and it jumped off my lap and ran away I rested my hands on the armrest ready to get up but I couldn't

"Hey... careful" he muttered and wrapped his arms around my back and helped me to get up. This was bad. How on Earth did things reach here? I shrugged his arm away and muttered a thank you.

After that, I got ready with the help of Julia and her colleague. It wasn't easy but I was ready wearing just a flowery orange maternal dress which did hug my body but left space to let my belly breathe and some sneakers. My hair was tied in a high ponytail for easy movements

"So this is happening...I wonder what the baby will look like..do you think he'll have my eyes...or charisma...I'm teaching her how to swim"Kyan kept on saying whatever plans he had for his niece. I couldn't argue with his wildest fantasies knowing he had a bunch of never-ending things he said he would do with his niece. I guess the baby had so much love waiting for it and I couldn't wait for this.

"Drive carefully, driver...she's pregnant," Kyan said, warning the driver who wasn't even speeding the car. The man had his arm holding mine not sure why he was overreacting

"Moni said I should be careful...she would have come with but she went to work"Kyan added as he rubbed my hands and I sat there enduring his work

"I'm okay...it's not like…"

"This is crucial, my brother will kill me if anything happens to you...very soon we'll reach, don't worry" he cut me off and pinched my cheeks cutely. Kyan was so childish yet mature. I ended up leaning on his shoulder while he drew circles in my palm

After a while, we arrived at the hospital. Like always two nurses were waiting for us.

"Welcome Ms," the nurses said with a smile while helping me get down and I smiled at them

"Thank you," I said with a low bow just showing my respect

"Okay ladies now let's get her in...and bring some refreshments for her...get some ice cream and snacks too"Kyan gave his orders like every time and all I did was exhale and inhale as I walked with the nurses inside while resting my hand on my belly securely

"So this is your last appointment...are you nervous or excited," one of the nurses asked me once we entered the building and headed straight to where doctor Maverick's office was

"A little but I have to say in excited...we'll both even nervous," I said not sure which was it but I was so agitated

"Okay you'll be fine...you are a brave girl really, "the nurse said and I smiled halfway. Maybe she was right, I did go through with this despite some complications which happened in the past. I glanced back and saw Kyan dragging the other nurse away obviously going to get the things he mentioned

"Oh...dear, please proceed to the doctor's office. I'll be right there" the nurse said when she heard her name on the announcer and I nodded at her and continued my journey while she headed back to where she was needed. By now I was used to the hospital and  the patients, as well as the medicine, smells

"I hope he's not with a patient," I said out loud hoping the doctor wasn't busy. I smiled knowing the doctor was so kind, especially doctor Justin who was still the same despite what happened a month ago

"Are you now calling me a liar huh?"I heard doctor Justin's voice immediately I reached the office door I was about to knock but stopped upon hearing the angry voice

"You made this fucking mistake and soon this will get exposed...if Vic finds out about this he'll hate her" this time doctor Justin sounded so angry and I grew worried, not sure if something was going on or my timing was bad

"I only did this for him...for his happiness....he wanted this so badly" this time it was doctor Maverick who said and my eyes narrowed knowing this was a delicate situation. I needed to go back and wait for them to end their conversation however just as I was about to walk away. I stopped abruptly when doctor Justin's next words froze me.

Every part of my body went stiff as I slowly turned around shocked as my heart raced rapidly. It pounded fast against my chest such that I felt a sharp pain causing me so much discomfort that I felt weak. My knees weakened that my shaky hand suspended midair ready to push the door open seemed frozen

"T...this can't be ''I cried out as the knot in my chest tightened. This was it. No this was not the truth, this was a lie. They were lying or maybe playing a prank on me but when Maverick said it himself. My vision turned blurry such that everything around me was spinning so fast that I found myself falling unconsciously.
