"I feel like you are hurting yourself, "I said, taking a sip of my freshly made mango juice. Both of us stopped at a restaurant after a good refreshing ride bonding with nature. I was being honest with Leo, he was my favorite person, and seeing him hurt made me feel sad

"I'm fine you don't have to worry...what's important is you are okay," he said as he played with his fork digging in his food. I didn't believe a word he said because I could feel he was hurting from inside and it was Monica's fault. I told her countless times to stop whatever she was doing. How on Earth was she going out with two men? Leo was hurting because the woman he loved was going out with another man

"I don't see you getting better...you work all the time... sometimes I feel like you are the new Vic" I had to be honest with him. His eyes said it all, his actions proved he was hurting inside and the thought of it made me hate Monica for playing with Leo's feelings

"I should be worried about you...tell me are you planning to stay with Vic?" he asked like he always did. I knew I didn't have to hide anything from Leo. It was weird how I loved pouring my heart out to him and he was a good listener. He listened to my bickering, my childishness and never complained when I demanded certain things. Of everything I knew Leo was the last person I'd hide things from him

"I dunno but do you think... he'll ever feel anything...I'm worried because of these past few months…"

"Vic has been distant" he finished the sentence for me and I nodded and took a bite of the French fry I was holding between my fingers. I didn't know why I felt this way but for the past three months, Vic had been a little occupied. He never talked to me much, although he checked up on me

"Yeah...and the doctor"I didn't have to finish the sentence when I was aware how the lady doctor was fond of Victor. She visited the house more and she always spent time with Victor whenever she came. I knew she was Victor's childhood friend not just that but I was told she was some rich businessman's precious daughter

"She's just his friend...Martha doesn't like Vic...and Victor doesn't either" Leo said like he always did but it was hard for me to convince myself. The doctor was beautiful, successful just like Victor so the chances of Victor liking her were there unlike me who was just his surrogate. Immediately my work was done I was pretty sure my value wouldn't be there

"It's best you don't overthink things...I'm pretty sure your grumpy man likes you" he teased winking at him playfully and I felt shy knowing this was awkward, Leo was my male bestie and the trusted one because whatever we discussed he didn't tell Victor

"So now you're gonna tell me to take that good for nothing girl out"Leo joked laughing after some time of talking about random things while we ate our meal. Vivienne laughed knowing I was done, letting Monica hurt him. I asked him to stop mistreating Cassy just because she was his assistant and take her out

"She's a good girl plus she's single," I told him while getting some cake from the waitress. I ordered dessert but Leo didn't want any

"Not a chance...she's not my type" he simply said and I shrugged and prepared to dig in my chocolate cake when I glanced to the side since we were sitting at the large glass window side and I could see the passing cars outside the road and I swore someone was in a parade

"Is it some car show day?"I said with an eye roll seeing how the black expensive-looking cars were moving as if it was some presidential escort. Leo didn't pay attention since he was just scrolling through his phone

"Moni wants you back...I guess you can't throw a baby shower without the baby '' Leo said with a sigh and I knew Monica was the one calling. She wanted this but I didn't want to go against Victor when…

"Oh no"I muttered and hid a little. The booth we were using was hidden away since the restaurant had a second floor where others were dining but now several men dressed in elegant suits matched in and among them was a tall well-built man. Even in suits, his muscles were all rippled. Forget that his aura was so intimidating despite the various men he was with. The man stood out like some Greek god all perfect and handsome and so great that I just wanted to stay at him and he was wearing sunglasses

"So cute" I couldn't help but say unfortunately I thought out loud and got Leo's attention

"Everything okay?"Leo asked, looking at me and I nodded and shook my head. My eyes were glued to where Victor and his friends were being guided to a table, such special attention he was getting but. Why was he here? I thought he was working but seeing him I guess he came to have a lunch meeting which was a bad idea because Leo was with me and if he saw him well the man would be so angry and grumpy

"Restroom," I said raising my pink finger and when Leo nodded for me to go, I got from the chair, took my phone, and sneaked away heading towards the restroom

"That grumpy man doesn't want a baby shower...no Ms. Payton...such things are a waste of time...no Ms. Payton this is bad...ahh, "I said in irritation, mimicking Victor's voice whenever I asked for something and he refused me. I also wanted a baby shower unfortunately the man was way too boring. I needed to do something about Victor. He was still a boring man I didn't see my future hubby being such a boring unromantic man

"Hey," I said to the girl I found fixing her face as soon as I entered the lady's restroom but she just looked at me and walked out

"Okay Vivienne...calm down...the grumpy man won't see you but what if he does"this was horrible, he said no to going out without his permission and if I needed to save my skin then I was going to leave Leo to die in the hands of Victor the grumpy Lord

"Okay I'll sneak out and go then call a taxi"I came up with a plan, rested my hand on my belly for easy movements and I left the restaurant

"You okay?" someone asked me when I was peeking out to see if the coast was clear.

"Yeah yeah, now shh"I shushed the person poking their nose in my affairs. I saw Leo busy having his meal, occasionally glancing at his phone, and when my eyes shifted to where Victor was. I saw he and three other men were having their food hence I smiled victoriously, gripped my phone tight, and prepared to rush to the door when

*Phone rings loudly*

"Damn it!"I muttered when the phone started ringing so loud. Forget that I hated how loud it was that I stopped Midway and some people around glanced at me. It would have been better if Victor chose to ignore me because he had his eyes on me and he seemed surprised

"Thank god you are here...you took so long so I…''Leo said as soon as he rushed to me. He didn't see Victor "you okay...you are sweating so much, "Leo said as he felt my forehead and neck with the back of his hand and I was frozen in place because the man standing behind him with a murderous expression was ready to kill

"S...sir" I muttered and Leo looked at me with a friend

"I'm not sir...did you hit your head somewhere...come let's go back and finish our meal," he said and grabbed my hand and prepared to turn around, and Immediately he did. Well he froze when he saw

"B..bro...w...what are you doing here?"Leo asked as he stepped away from Victor. I saw how nervous Leo was and I knew he was dead meat because in a few seconds the door to the restaurant opened and two well-built men wearing dark clothes walked in and saw them. I knew Victor's thugs came too

"Take him away" Victor ordered and the two men grabbed Leo by the arms

"Come on...I didn't do anything wrong...she was bored okay...Vic come on '' Leo said in between chuckles as he was dragged away and out the door. I remained standing there with my head lowered. But I could see Victor's sharp gaze on me

"Come with," the man said and took me by the arm as led me to the door. I thought he was having lunch,

"Sir. I think you should finish your lunch and let me..."I said as he dragged me out and once we reached the parking lot. He let go of me

"Going against me...Ms. Payton are you testing my patience" he said as he trapped me between his large form and the car. I didn't understand his actions one bit

"Sir. it's hot...let's go for ice cream…I'll drive"I said and snatched the keys from him. He was being grumpy and boring and to make him less grumpy I had the perfect things to do before the day ended.
