Chapter 153: Chapter 153

(Vivienne)

"Ms...Ms. Payton, I don't think this is safe" Victor said as he moved closer to me. I told him I had everything under control and there was no need for him to stop me. I've done this before and I didn't need his help

"Don't worry I've done this before... remember when you got drunk" I said winking at him and driving the car at normal speed. I knew how to drive and I did this when I first met him. I drove his car and didn't damage it so why couldn't he just let me drive to our destination peacefully

"See I'm sure you remember...I drove you safe and sound...I'm pregnant not broken plus I trust me with driving not you" I said when he didn't say anything about that night and moved away from the steering wheel and let me do my thing. I knew he was worried that a pregnant lady wasn't supposed to drive but I don't think there was anything wrong with me driving. I was okay

"Sir trust me...you are safe in my hands I told you before...when Vivienne is around you don't have to worry"I added when I saw how he settled back in the passenger's seat and focused his eyes on the road ahead. He made a mistake by taking Leo away. I was hella bored and he was the closest thing to making me happy

"Sir, why did you leave your meeting in the middle?"I asked when the car came to a stop since we were at the traffic lights waiting for it to turn green. He didn't answer me which I expected from him. He never answered me hence I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel and looked out as the sun shone brightly. I stretched running my fingers in my hair and accidentally glanced at Victor and I caught the man staring at me

"What happened to your hair?" he asked more like a whisper and I looked at him then lowered the mirror to see it

"Oh...um i...well I made it different...I cut the front and made it a little fringe "I replied surprised that he noticed the change I did with my hair. I was experimenting with myself and I ended duo cutting the front of my hair just to see how I looked

"Oh" he mumbled and I shrugged, maybe he didn't like it which wasn't my problem. The lights turned green and I took a left down the main road

"Ms. Payton, where are you taking me?" he asked again and I answered. I already told him I was kidnapping him with his knowledge. He never spared some time for his baby so I took it upon myself to abduct him

"To the park...I'm sure you are familiar with the things I like sir...I'm taking you to the park so...you can bond with nature" I told him with cheers and focused on the road ahead. I knew he was annoyed with me but I couldn't care less. He needed to loosen up a bit especially when his baby came out. Or was he going to be grumpy forever

***

After arriving at the park. I was the first one to get out of the car although with great difficulty but I managed to set my feet on the pavement while Victor did the same

"Here...I'll grab the things...I already made the setup...so just help me carry the drinks" I said and walked around the car and opened the backseat where I shoved everything I made him buy. Victor didn't argue but took the rolled-up tent. I promised him I would make sure his day was splendid

"Come...I already asked Jason to make arrangements...I'm sure he did a good job" I said and took the picnic basket and walked towards the entrance and Victor followed. I was so happy and I hoped he felt the same happiness. We made our way inside and like the park manager told me. He chose the perfect spot for a late-night picnic just like the last time I took him out

"Sir…" it was Jason who said immediately we entered the area "everything is ready" he added and bowed a little and when I glanced at Victor he had that questionable facial expression as if asking why I decided to use his assistant for my benefits

"Thanks, Jason, "I said and walked right past him and went straight towards the lake area. I always wondered why all parks were by the lakeside. People drowned if they didn't know but I was happy the lake was far from the setup. I quickly reached the spot where Jason had managed to put the little wooden table and had spread a white blanket for us to sit on and I beamed when I saw the box of cake. I didn't know what Victor liked but I got the cake I could also eat so basically the flavor was my choice and what I liked

"Okay now this is amazing" I inspected everything and I had to say the setup was amazing

"Ms. Payton, I don't think you understand some things," Victor said when he dropped the white tent beside the blanket and I frowned and patted on the other side for him to sit. He looked at me for a good amount of time then unbuttoned his coat and took it off

"It's for your good sir…"if someone asked me the kind of man I wanted then Victor would be crossed out. He was way too plain for my taste. Forget that but the man was the pure definition of a boring straight-faced man

"Well I brought you here because I know you hate crowded places...it's quiet here, take a seat" I added when he shoved the coat to the sides and I saw as he rolled up the sleeves to his elbows and I smiled and he sat down..he looked handsome sitting there. The sun was setting and the orange color cast its Ray on the lake waters making it appear breathtaking. Victor and I shifted our eyes to the water and I knew he thought the same. The area was peaceful. Bonding with nature and hear birds chirping all day was something he would remember me of

"Sir...I'm sorry but I went behind your back...you see well"I started and went on my knees not for a particular reason because I was unwrapping the cake. I took a small knife from the basket and put it on the table...Victor looked at me but I didn't mind

"Well you are different...sir I think you should be doing some things for the baby...when she's born...oops.. congrats you are going to have a girl," I said with a small pout knowing he didn't want to know this but seeing his blank expression I frowned

"Aren't you surprised...I asked doctor Maverick and we checked the…

"He already told me"the man cut me off and I felt awkward, now what if he knew the gender of his child then what was the cake for. Victor was impossible, sometimes I thought I knew what he liked and I could know his next moves but unfortunately, the man was hard to read

"I bought a cake just for you….and we'll celebrate umm the little princess you'll have in your life" I proceeded to do my thing and managed to remove the top from the cake. I smiled because it was just like I wanted..white cream and some teddy bear as deco

"See, it's gorgeous, perfect for the little one," I said with giggles and showed him. Of course, he looked but didn't react

"This wasn't necessary," he said and I frowned at him. This was important, for the baby and only the baby…

"It's necessary...please always celebrate her birthday...shower her with all your love every minute you get…"I said and started cutting the cake. I meant every word I said

"She'll be a little princess...I know you'll make her happy but just in case you forget...I bought her first cute shoes and a little pink dress" he didn't say anything about buying clothes for the baby so I did myself. I hid the things I bought but I was certain they would come in handy

"Why?" he asked when I dished out the pieces of the cake on small white plates. What did he mean by why

"Because...she's precious to you...your source of happiness...sir...can I ask you a question?"I said with a smile and handed him the plate and gave him a fork. He didn't hesitate but took the plate and I saw as he adjusted into a comfortable sitting position and I sat back down

"What is it?" he murmured and I smiled while taking a bite of the cake. It was delicious, the chocolate-vanilla flavor was mouth-watering. The creaming wasn't so sweet but tasted like ice cream

"Delicious...sir what type of a woman do you like...I mean...what qualities do you want in a woman you can call your wife"I was meaning to ask him this. I tried asking Kyan how Alisa was. And he told me she was different from other women, she was kind and loved everyone and I didn't think anyone could be as good as Victor's late wife

"Someone less annoying... someone who doesn't talk too much and gives me a headache," he said without me asking twice. I was shocked at his words. I was exactly what he was describing

"So you mean someone as boring as you?"I said bitterly knowing he was provoking me on purpose. Victor didn't answer but ate his cake

"Nice," he said in between swallows pointing at the cake but I didn't care

"What else do you hate?"I asked only because I wanted to know

"Ms. Payton...I'm sure by now you must know I hate women who try to make me do what I don't want...I just don't like them" he remarked, shaking his head at me. I swore he was teasing me. Just the glimmer in his eyes showed he was trying to get me angry on purpose

"Oh really then that woman bought this cake"I lashed out and snatched the plate from him and set it aside

"You won't have any cake…I'm sure your classy elegant women with high manners will buy you many cakes...this is mine and the baby's"I said with a frown and struggled to get up. He extended his hand to help me get to my feet but I shrugged him off and managed to balance on my feet and walked away from the blanket. I didn't reach far when

"Ahh! Snake!"

"Where...where is it!" the man panicked and with lightning speed got to where I was standing frozen and wrapped his arms around my body

"Tell me...did it bite you...where did you see it?" he asked as he inspected my body and exposed legs even my toes and I pointed to what was before me

"That"

"Which?"

"That one there"I pointed at it again and Victor's narrowed his eyes and fixed them on the same spot where I was pointing and he shifted his gaze on me

"That's a stick, not a snake," he remarked with a frown and I smiled and shrugged

"I know" I simply said shrugging and walked back to the blanket

"Ms. Payton!"I heard him growl and I knew I fooled him

"Stop growling and come make the tent!"I shouted for him to join me.
