"So this is all the old man's doing...he started something...there were ups and downs...but with time I learned when you are an Ellison…"Victor said through the mic while standing on the stage as the crowd fixed their eyes on him listening to his speech "you wouldn't be called the best if you haven't fallen a few times and suffered some bruises" he said the last words and everyone laughed knowing he was joking. For him he was serious. His father started the company from scratch and went through hell to build it and make it known. He was the true founder and he was so passionate about his work
"We are here to bring out the best...to give more job opportunities and grow in size," he said and before he even finished, the people listening to him started clapping. He wasn't so good at addressing a crowd but since he was the boss, he had to do so. His dad never missed a year to celebrate the company's success. He always attended such functions and saw how much people respected his father. Although he wasn't so into business matters he still had to carry on the family traditions. The company was a few years old. It existed even before he was born hence he wouldn't want to let it sink when it was built on hard work. Blood and sweat of his father
"Our company is open to new ideas...new partnerships and much more…" he added as he shoved one hand in his pockets..he could see some of his business partners raising their wine glasses at him and he knew they were in for some more partnership. He and his family were around but only one person was missing. He chose a different dress for her because she wasn't so ordinary. She didn't have to look like others because she was the rarest flower in the garden different from the rest and he was a little sad when he scanned the large crowd and she wasn't there
"Vic... continue" he heard Castro mutter as he scooped close to him and Victor who had been lost in thoughts looking for the redhead jerked back to his senses realizing he and stopped talking and had been staring at the crowd with a confused expression
"No speech too short...the night is young kindly enjoy your night...treat yourself to some delicacies while we wait for some entertainment, "Victor said ending his speech in the middle, and Castro together with Monica looked at him with disbelief as the guests applauded and the lights were turned on and some soft music played
"There was more than just that small part you said, "Castro said as he followed Victor off the stage and Monica joined them as well
"All of it was irrelevant," Victor said as he retrieved his phone out of his pockets and glanced at it. Castro was irritated not sure why he traveled from Canada to attend something when his friend was some man who hated being questioned
"What's wrong with you...you have been distracted since this whole thing started...at least respect this even if you don't like being here,'' Castro said with some irritation to his voice. Victor stopped walking and turned around. Monica was scared as he held Castro's arm trying to keep him from making Victor even angrier
"I did my part...a speech is just words..what else do you want me to do? Victor remarked, not sure why he was being troubled when he had things to do. Castro stared at his friend for a while knowing everything Victor did about the company was forced. He didn't want this but his dad forced him to take over which meant he had to give up his dream of being the doctor he wanted. Monica knew how much sense that topic was to Victor knowing he was made to choose something he didn't want over what he always wanted
"This is being careless..for once stop being selfish and finish something...what should we do when you have your own stupid rules…"Castro said looking at Victor with rage in his eyes. Monica was frightened not sure what to do about Castro who had been irritated with Victor for days now because he was neglecting some work
"Keep your mouth shut... I already signed a contract with your company...don't cross your limits"Victor warned in a deadly tone as his expression darkened. And with that, he walked away leaving Castro heaving in rage
"Calm down that wasn't necessary," Monica said, not sure who to blame but Castro shrugged her off and walked straight to the bar area to get some strong drinks to calm his nerves.
Meanwhile, Victor had just asked a few security men if they saw a redhead with a pink dress and he was directed to the garden. He didn't know why the little lady loved gardens so much but he made his way there while scrolling through his phone. He was already in a bad mood and just wanted someone to pay some attention
"It's okay...I'm here...you don't have to worry" he heard the voice of the lady he was looking for say. His eyes narrowed as he walked down the pavement leading more to the garden and once he got there he stopped when he saw her with a man. Anger flashed in his eyes when he saw how the man was close to her. Held her in his arms as if he loved her. If he didn't murder anyone before then he was likely to do so now
"If she doesn't want to see you...then don't bother...I'll stay with you," she said again and Victor was annoyed seeing her play with Leo's hair. He was just away from them and they could see him if they paid attention but they were too engrossed in their display of affection to see him
"Do you think I'm not the bad one here?"Leo asked and his Surrogate nodded and creased his hair and when she glanced to the sides that's when she saw him and panicked
"Victor?"She called him in a low voice and moved away from Leo but Victor just shook his head and stormed away from there.

I didn't know Martha and Leo were related, not related but it seemed Leo's mom was married to Martha's dad. And Leo was not happy about it because he felt abandoned. I failed to understand him knowing he was grown up and independent but hearing she got married when he was ten years old and since we then they didn't talk like mother and son made me feel horrible
"There there, "I said, coaxing him to be calm. He was emotional and hurt. I understood how he felt knowing his mom chose to remarry over his son. I had my fair share of living without my parents. It was normal for me because I didn't know who they were, Leo had his mom but she wasn't interested in knowing about him
"She's known to abandon her children...she's horrible and abandoned someone I wanted to meet so badly...but I couldn't...she got rid of her, "he said as his grip tightened around me. He was hurt and I was all he needed
"It's okay...I'm sure she'll realize how important her children are, "I told him while playing with his hair. He said he was the only one then who his mom abandoned. I wanted to ask when I looked to the sides and saw an angry man standing there. I quickly moved away from Leo and called out to him
"Victor" I did but he seemed angry that he walked away
"Go to him...I'll be fine," Leo said and shifted away. I didn't know what to do. Leo was hurt and needed someone and I knew Victor was angry because he saw me with Leo in a different situation but I
"I'll stay he can"
"He won't wait...he's upset and if you don't want him drinking liquor then go calm him down"Leo cut me off before I could finish and I was surprised how he knew his friend so well. I didn't want Victor drowning in liquor but Leo needed me
"I'll have Monica come here, "I said before I ran away from there. I was hoping Victor didn't reach far and yes. I saw him but he was walking way too fast
"Vic stop!"I shouted for him to stop and to my surprise, he stopped right away. I ran as fast as I could keeping my hand securely on my belly as I caught up with him
I was used to running in the past but being pregnant came with consequences because my breathing was so high that I had to gasp for air when I reached where he was
"Sir...it's not what you think, "I said, placing my hand over my chest to calm myself.
"I didn't ask, did I?" he said, looking at me with a sharp expression. He didn't have to say he was jealous of seeing me with Leo but his rude behavior said it all
"Go back and finish your romance" he added when I didn't reply to him. I was stunned by how rude and arrogant he can be. He was angry but he had to ask me what was happening
"Wait please, "I said and grabbed his arm, stopping him from being grumpy the rest of the night. He stopped and I did what I thought would calm him down. I hugged him and rested my head on his chest. My hands slipped inside his white coat and I relaxed exhaling steadily
"Sir why are you upset?"I asked when he didn't hug me back. I innocently peeked at him to look at his face and he had that straight face. He slowly reached his hands to my face and tilted my head up. I shifted and held his arms
"I'm not happy," he murmured as he caressed my face. I heard him loud and clear and I failed to understand him
"Why?"I whispered and leaned more to his touch. His other hand slid down my body and held my back firmly
"When you give other men more attention...what am I to do to make you look at just one man? ''he said slowly as he lowered his face to mine. I was stunned by his words that I parted my lips to speak, unfortunately, he ended up sealing our lips. His hand moved to the back of my head and pulled me close as he initiated a kiss. He nibbled at my lower lip gently while I salvaged his upper lips. I didn't know why he started this but I found myself deepening the kiss to have more as my hands tempted to unbutton his shirt.
