By now I was joined by her and Justin. I didn't know why the two men were with me since Castro excused himself but at least I was surrounded by familiar faces. Of course, they were talking to me and my attention and all my mind and my whole body was with Victor. But looking at the man. He seemed busy with the female doctor. Monica left them alone and now Martha seemed to be enjoying Victor's presence. Two men in tuxedos were standing with him and I guess they were talking about hospital stuff or maybe a business related matter

"So you mean...very soon her belly will be so big like a train?"It was Kyan who asked Justin since all he was doing was asking doctor Justin about me and the baby.

"Yeah...but not...like a train Kyan"Justin replied more nervously as if he didn't want to hurt my feelings. I heard whenever women got pregnant. They became less attractive and men didn't even spare them a glance due to their big tummies and looking at mine. It was getting bigger by the day and when I glanced at Victor, I wondered if he thought the same thing about how I looked.

"Vivie...I'm sure you are not bored...to be honest, I don't like parties" Kyan said, turning to me. He too wasn't wearing black like the rest but just casually. I looked at him and took a sip of whatever sweet liquid the waiter kept on giving me. So far I had taken five glasses and I wasn't done

"Not really…"I muttered and glanced to my sides and I caught Victor staring at me. He seemed to be listening to the men talking to him but I found my eyes were on met. He didn't move his eyes away despite listening to the person talking to him. I felt awkward and slipped my hand to my neck and massaged myself a little just to get rid of the tension and when I glanced to the right, I spotted Monica then Leo storming away

"I'll be right back," I said, excusing myself and Justin nodded while Kyan waved his hands and leaned back in his chair. I thought he would go out flirting with girls but he was well behaved

"Hey, sweetie…"I was stopped by Cassy who seemed to be in a hurry and I turned to her

"Any problem?"I asked, not sure why she stopped me. Monica already joined Justin which meant Leo was upset about something

"Well haven't you seen Victor yet...I saw some blonde woman clinging onto him like a second skin"Cassy said sarcastically and I knew she saw Victor was with the doctor

"I don't care...where are you rushing to?"I asked changing the topically and she grinned as she showed me a business card

"Met some loaded Daddy...girl got a date, "Cassy said with a mischievous grin and did a little dance. I wanted to laugh but I stopped myself. I gave her a breakup with Nate and didn't leave her well.

"And where are you going...you should be clinging to your baby Daddy...there side by side, "Cassy asked, pointing to Victor who was now with Justin and Castro. The blonde Martha was not with him

"He's not my... Daddy...sounds wrong" I murmured to her. What if the guests heard her say Victor's name in such a way

"Well if you two got a thing...my 19 years old princess will automatically be Victor's baby kitten," she said beaming at me and I was so embarrassed that I covered her mouth with my hand stopping her from saying rubbish

"Stop it okay...he's not that...plus you…"I wasn't done scolding her when suddenly I smelled that familiar cologne, a perfect male scent with various perfumes which lingered in the air reminding me of a few nights when I got an opportunity to get a whiff of the scent up close and like Cassy knew who was standing behind me. She slowly pried my fingers off her mouth one after the other and I saw she was grinning like a cat. I was nervous just thinking about turning around and facing the devil

"Good evening sir...what a lovely party you have here," Cassy said with a low bow and I was stunned how she said it like a la r was she just trying to act like it in front of Victor who only nodded at her

"Be good"Cassy whispered as she walked past me and away she went

"Sir," I said more like a whisper when it was just Victor and I standing there. Although many people were around it still felt like it was just him and I

"Ms. Payton...you look lovely," he said looking straight at my face and I felt weak. My knees were about to give up because by now they were spaghetti

"T...thank you, sir...you don't look bad yourself"I replied with a half-smile and he didn't react

"I see," he said and we stayed like that without saying anything to each other. It was weird how he came to me but had nothing to say

"I'm glad you came" he broke the silence between us and I bit my lower lip knowing he didn't leave me any choice but to come to his event and I saw he was dressed formally for the occasion. As the main boss, he looked rather charming especially when he was wearing white. Never seen him wear white. He looked like a groom

"Thanks, sir"

"For what"?" he asked, arching his brows at me and I was confused. When he helped me with my hair I didn't thank him

"For earlier...my hair is good thanks to you"

"And?" he said questionably, more like he was teasing me and I shrugged and we both ended up laughing a little. I was so nervous that I didn't know why. This wasn't the first time we were seeing each other

"You look gorgeous" he complimented again. This time I had to look into his eyes and what I saw made my heart race. For a second , I thought it wasn't it but I couldn't help but overthink things

"Thank you...I love the tux...the color suits you perfectly"I complimented him as well not because he complimented me but because he was exceptional tonight

"I see," he muttered instead of a simple thank you. I guess he knew he looked amazing and I was aware many people already told him the same thing but still I.

"Thanks" to my surprise I was pulled in his arms so unexpectedly that my heart finally exploded from fright as it pounded violently against my chest. The man was hugging me in public. I felt his lips on my neck. His arms were around my back and I didn't know if to hug him back or not but I was compelled to do so even if people were likely watching us while savoring the beautiful moment of being engulfed in Victor's arms, I heard Monica's say and she didn't sound happy "Vic...it's time" I moved away from Victor who didn't move away but slid his hand down my arm and held my hand

"You are the boss...I think you should open with a few words…."Monica said and I could tell her eyes were glued to two hands which was intertwined

"Tell Castro to start, "Victor said turning away from her and I saw he was about to take me away from there but Monica was hell-bent on making him leave me

"Miguel Lewis just arrived...he's looking forward to seeing you...I'm sure Ms. Payton will be fine by herself" she finally said what she wanted to say and I saw how Victor was hesitating. I guessed he had important guests who needed to see him

"Bro...it's time" it was Justin who came to us and said

"I'll taste some cuisines I saw, I won't get bored" he didn't have to choose between his work and me. It was clear he had so many things to do hence I nodded for him to go and he did and Justin followed him. Monica was hesitant to go but before she did. She threw me a glare and then cat walked away. I didn't blame her for disliking me, hence I sighed and watched as Victor disappeared into the crowd when I turned towards the food area. I didn't even feel like eating anything hence I decided to take a walk outside if ever they had a garden.

I walked down the wet pavement as the black night greeted me. I heard cheers and clapping inside and I knew Victor's event just started. Everyone we're inside except for the security men

"Is there a garden here?"I asked the first man I saw and he turned to look at me

"Yes Ms...but we turned off the lights there," he said politely and I nodded at him as I decided to go there anyway. I didn't even reach far when I spotted Leo talking to a lady. Looking at the lady carefully I saw that it was Martha. What were they doing here I decided to get close since I haven't had a chat with Leo

"You don't have to say that to me...it's not like I caused this"I heard Monica say. I guessed they were arguing about something hearing the sound of her voice

"Keep her to yourself...she doesn't exist to me" Leo lashed out and he too sounded angry

"Come on Leo...you are not a child for goodness's sake...yes she's not so wonderful but a mother is always a mother," Martha said and I was about to turn around and leave from there since it sounded like a delicate topic but Leo stopped me

"You shouldn't talk to me about this...she's dead to me"

"Fine" just like that Martha stormed away and I heard Leo curse multiple times and I knew he was angry

"I'm...sorry I didn't mean to"

"I need a hug please"Leo muttered and I turned around surprised at how low his voice was. I looked at him and he had his head lowered. His posture was rather hunched and I was worried

"Did something happen?"I asked and let him hug me. He embraced me and inhaled deeply as his arms tightened around me

"I just need someone to hug me" he muttered and I felt even more concerned. He was always jovial, what happened to him so suddenly.
