"Vic, just calm down...I'm sure she didn't mean any harm"Maverick tried to reason with Victor. He was too furious which scared him greatly. He was particular about his work and he expected anyone and everyone working under him to take things seriously. Who knew what Vivie did to get him so angry
"For now...go to her and apologize...for goodness's sake she's your woman...learn to control your temper"Maverick added not believing Victor would get upset with Vivienne just because she made a tiny little mistake. He was supposed to understand her no matter what and not get upset so easily.
It wasn't healthy for their relationship which was just in the process of mending. He came with the hopes of telling Victor the truth he had hidden for three years but now this was a terrible moment to say something like that. Victor was unpredictable. Who knew how he would react
"I'm not mad at her, just upset with myself... something is bothering her...I feel it whenever she's with me" Victor said and sat back down. He knew talking about his personal life was out of the question but Maverick and he did talk about such things since they have known each other for so long
"I see...and did you bother asking her...if you feel that way...I think you should try asking her what's wrong"Maverick remarked, if Victor felt that way then it was probably because he had gotten closer to Vivie emotionally. Vivienne was a good woman, carefree and any man would fall for her but the burden of knowing Skylar was her daughter and hiding it from the father and the man she loved wasn't easy. He was ashamed to have put Vivienne in such a situation. She had nothing to do with this
"Fine...I guess I can do that now," Victor said, getting up from his chair and grabbing his coat. He was a fool to have reacted like that so easily. Just as he was about to head to the door. There was a knock. It opened and it was Priscilla who walked in and bowed apologetically at him
"My apologies sir...but you have visitors," she said and moved out of the way. Victor didn't ask much; however, he also didn't remember ever inviting anyone to his office. When Victor left the office with Priscilla. Maverick sat in his chair lost in thoughts. His eyes were on the middle envelope lying on the desk.
Several times Victor had attempted to open it but he was hesitant hence with curiosity. Maverick reached for it. It was a bad thing to open something which wasn't his but even Victor had no idea what it was or who went it. Scanning the end with vivid eyes. Maverick proceeded to open it. Taking his time he retrieved the documents he found in it and carefully placed the envelope on his lap
"What's this?" he muttered as he fixed his eyes on the heading. Reading the words printed in bold dark letters. With each word he read going down, his forehead was covered in sweat. His hands trembled upon turning the next page as fear washed over him.
He had never felt so frightened in his life as he read through the two pages and exhaled heavily as he slammed the documents back on the desk. His face was drenched in cold liquid so were his hands which had turned a play white and frozen as if he had stuck them in the refrigerator. What was this doing here and who exactly sent it here
"D...DNA results" he mumbled as he fought to get the envelope and put everything back..he didn't know what would have happened if Victor read this. Maverick was disturbed as he struggled to get up from his chair. Of all things, this was the secret that would ruin a friendship and a career knowing he did something bad. Even if Victor was his friend. What he did was unprofessional. He could get sued for it
Just as he was about to open the door. Someone else beat him to it. Maverick came to a halt when he saw Leo looking furious not just that but he was even more shocked when Leo punched him in the face such that Maverick was caught off guard and ended up stumbling inside the office holding his face which was burning painfully. He didn't understand where this came from but when the door slammed violently and Leo strode to him and held him by the shirt. Maverick was confused
"How could you!"Leo growled out as he gripped Maverick's front shirt with so much strength. Both men were the same height. Well built and strong but Maverick looked a little vuln as he tried to regain his wits. He could feel hot liquid dripping from his nose but he ignored the pain and focused his eyes on Leo
"I...what's going on huh?"Maverick asked, surprised at how Leo was acting like a monster. Leo didn't even care about the doctor being older than him because he was furious. Finding out something so delicate and heartbreaking was something after three years
"Did you tell him...do you even know what you have done!"Leo yelled and threw Maverick away with so much force but Maverick balanced on his feet as he wiped his nose and saw how bloody his hand was. The jerk punched him hard, his nose was probably broken
"I know but...I had no choice...you…"
"You ruined her life... didn't you fucking think about her future...are you such a dumb doctor that you failed to see the mistake you made"Leo was not happy as he tried to attempt another attack on Maverick but the doctor moved away before he suffered more body injuries. He had this more than anyone
"I had no choice, okay...I wasn't thinking clearly...he was already grumpy...I did what any friend would do"Maverick said defensively and leaned against the desk. Leo was agitated as he fisted his hands tightly. He just came back from Justin's apartment. He found the man drinking his soul out. His reason for going to see Justin was because he wanted to have a serious conversation with him about their issue three years ago about Monica.
The two haven't had a man-to-man conversation even when both stopped seeing Monica but when he went there. He found Justin drunk so early in the morning. Leo thought Justin was still heartbroken about Monica unfortunately it was something else. The doctor ended up telling him Skylar wasn't Alisa's child but Vivie and Victor's child
"Why didn't you tell him before huh...Victor is very particular about liars...Alisa lied once and he hasn't forgiven her...what do you think will happen if he finds out...about this"Leo said, arching his brows at Maverick who was speechless. He knew this about Victor he loathed liars, especially coming from the person he cherished and Vivie was the girl he cherished
"Oh god"Maverick mumbled, now realizing exactly what he had done to poor Vivie. He put her in a tough time all because he didn't want Victor's heart to be broken without knowing he ruined Vivie's
"But it's kinda a good thing...I mean the child is Vivie's...what a twist"Leo regained his jovial personality and said smirking. Maverick was confused because a few minutes ago Leo was a raging monster but now he was happy.

"We are looking forward to doing business with you," the men said a few words, shaking hands with Victor who was still confused. He was told some people were looking for him. As much as he was in a bad mood he proceeded to the conference room only to be greeted by Mr. Nakamura and his men, not just that but Vivienne was with them
"She's a smart one...you are lucky to have an employee like her"Mr. Nakamura said as he shifted his gaze to Vivie who stood there smiling faintly. She wasn't going to let Victor lose something he wanted. She made a mistake and when she heard all that the MD had said about how important those people were. She didn't even waste time but went after them. They already left the building and drove away but she took a taxi and convinced them to come back. It wasn't easy to do so however she used all to tricks in her book to bring them back
"Thanks for coming, "Victor said and escorted them to the door and asked his MD and Jason to see them out. When he walked back inside. His eyes fell on the woman standing by the chair he had been sitting in earlier
"Ms. Payton…"
"You owe me lunch Mr. Ellison...have a wonderful day" she cut him off before he could say anything and walked right past him. Victor grabbed her arm before she could go as a smile crept on his face. He didn't know what she did but he had some apologies to do
"Lunch...it's settled" he simply said and let go of her. Vivienne just shook her head in disbelief and left the conference room to join her friends leaving Victor grinning to himself.

Meanwhile, Brea slipped away and managed to get out of the building without anyone seeing her. She was nervous as she glanced around as if avoiding being seen and when she got to the parking area which was a little hidden from people's sight. She stood by a black car with tinted windows. She gently knocked twice on the window which rolled down Immediately
"I did what you said...she acted as you predicted but...now...she managed to bring those men back and Victor isn't angry at her…"Brea delivered her status report to the person who was in the backseat of the car. She wanted so badly to see the face of the lady who was giving her orders to ruin Vivienne's reputation in Victor's eyes but Brea's attempts were in vain because the woman had a black veil covering her face
"Great...wait for my next instructions," the lady in the car said sternly Brea was frightened by her voice so venomous and full of hate.
"Don't worry I'll do whatever you say...I hate that girl" Brea said disdainfully and the two continued exchanging words without realizing someone had followed Brea.
Alexis was hiding behind another car watching everything that was happening. Her eyes narrowed
"So Vivie was right...this little slut...has something to do with this," she said and took out her phone hoping to record a video. She was given a task by Vivie to keep an eye on Brea and of course, she was the one working with the enemy.
