Chapter 47: Chapter 47
(PRESENT TIME)
“Where are you now?” Asked my model friend, Cherry as she called me. Judging from the shortness of her breath, I assume she must have just finished her walk.
I ate on my croissant, the soft bread melting into my mouth.
Mmmmmh…Delicious. “C’mon, it’s my birthday, I need to treat myself.”
I shopped in Paris. Attended fashion shows. I am a model. I could do what I want.
Except I have to have restraint because I am only the second daughter.
“Gurl I’m sorry to say this to you but…open the news.”
I opened it and saw Henry, my fiance, was reported to be dining with my sister.
I sighed. I had expected this to happen, I didn’t know it would be on the same day as my birthday.
Yes, my life has been messed up lately. I was always jealous of my oldest sister who has it all. Looks, body, fame, and even the man I loved.
My boyfriend’s been cheating on me. I already knew it, so I’m going to break up with him now.
I don’t even want to witness it. Stupid had gone home earlier for our anniversary, and bought flowers and chocolates for us to eat later so I could surprise him, but it was me who got surprised by the scene in front of me.
My sister is kissing the man I love, on our anniversary.
Seems cliche, and she had always thought that this would only happen in the movies, but she’s completely wrong about that.
Knowing it already pains me, but having to witness it myself is a different thing.
“You thought I would love you, Saphira?” My boyfriend, Harry, came laughing at me as I saw him kissing my sister. “It’s your sister that I love!”
My sister Sofia laughed at me, taking me for a fool.
I was stupid to trust them. How could I be so gullible? So that explains all of Harry’s excuses and my sister’s weird actions.
I looked at my sister’s bulging stomach and glanced at Harry, too numb to even cry.
Sofia had told me she was pregnant, and she didn’t mention the man.
I see how it is...
“So that child…is it yours?” I asked him and Harry nodded.
My shattered heart fell into pieces. I want to scream, I want to tear my sister’s hair apart, but I was frozen in my place, my mind still processing what is happening right here.
Instead of dragging my sister or throwing punches at Harry, I couldn’t do anything.
Because I know it. I know that it's my fault for being lacking too.
I should have been more beautiful, I should have been better. And Harry was unsatisfied with me. And he was a j*rk for it.
I don’t want to appear weak in front of them. Not now. Instead, I stood strong, “Dad will find out about this, Sofia. How are you going to face your fiance?”
Sofia clutched Harry’s hand for support, pouting, “I don’t want to get married to someone that I haven’t even met.”
I blinked. No, they have already agreed to this marriage. How could my sister have last-minute plans? “But your wedding is going to be tomorrow.”
Harry smirked, “You know what’s worse? They say he’s gay and infertile. I couldn’t let your sister get married like that.”
Filled with rage, I couldn’t let myself be dragged down like that. I opened the cake I was holding and slammed it to Harry’s face. I shoved the chocolates down his throat and kicked Harry’s balls and he groaned in pain. I pulled my sister’s hair and she yelped in pain.
Harry tried to stop me, but I grabbed my sister’s throat, “You b*tch! You’re going to regret this. From this day, I won’t ever call you my sister. And you Harry, I’ll make sure you suffer from this. I won’t let you two get away from betraying me!”
Yelling that, I instantly walked away and dialed my father’s number. He’s not answering. I dialed my stepmother, Sofia’s phone but still no answer.
Glaring at the two, I left the house and took a taxi to go to my best friend’s house, Tori which was just 15 minutes away from my home. I had already texted her and as soon as arrived, she instantly hugged me, and I crumbled into pieces.
“Sshh shh, everything going to be fine, Saph. I’m here with you.” She said, patting my back softly and continuing to murmur sweet things to me. She guided me inside her room and I settled on her sofa, grabbing some tissues from the table. She disappeared for a moment and showed up with chocolate-flavored ice cream, popcorn, and some face towels.
I only show my vulnerable side to her because she’s my whole life. The only person I trust.
She didn’t bother to ask me anything, which I’m very thankful for.
“Sleep here in my place until everything’s fine.” She offered, and I attempted to smile but failed.
“Thank you, really, what would I do without you?”
She chuckled, “Well, I know I’m that special. Let’s just watch a movie now.”
I spent the rest of my days there when I was okay, she got me into a blind date.
“You need to unwind.” She said and stood up to find a dress in her closet. “Lend me a dress.”
She nodded and patted my hair, “I’ll find you a man. Let’s make Harry and that bitch sister of yours regret that.”
