PROLOGUE FROM THE FUTURE

“Saphira! Someone’s calling you.” called the company’s receptionist, Sam, as soon as I sat down by my desk to work. “And delivered rare black roses.”

I raised my eyebrows. “Huh? That must be some prank callers. You know those kinds of calls, Sam.”

A playful smirk played on her lips, “It says he’s from your husband.”

I blinked, then it hit me. I instantly stood up, looked around if someone heard her, and covered her mouth to stop her from saying more. I dragged her to the company’s women’s bathroom and finally removed my hand from her mouth.

I said “Tell me what he said more.”

She shrugged, “I don’t know…but all I know was he’s your husband…Saph, I honeslty didn’t know you would be married first…you should announce it to our whole colleagues!”

“No, and no. Sam, please, can you keep it a secret between us? I promise to treat you in a meal.”

She nodded, “But what about the black roses?” She asked.

“Just dispose of it.”

“But it’s all over the entrance of the office now, with your name and photo.”

I swear I was never shocked like that in my whole life. I want to faint. “What?”

I instantly ran outside the bathroom, took the elevator and went to the entrance to see it. Yes, black roses everywhere. With my name and lovely face.

I facepalmed myself. I had worked for the enemy’s company. A husband did not expect. and a husband I have been keeping a secret. We married because I was desperate and for convenience.

My phone instantly rang and his name flSaphed on the screen. Theon.

I wanted to dismiss it and I closed my eyes, pressing the answer button. “Where were you? You didn’t answer any of my calls.”

“I’m busy.” I simply responded, wanting it to end so badly.

“Did you receive my black roses?” His teasing voice asked, and I could judge that he was smirking.

“Yes, can you stop being petty now and remove this,” I said firmly, “And why black roses? Are you saying you want me to die?”

“No, I want you to tell the whole world that I'm your husband. Why are you even shy about it?” He answered. “Just live with me and leave this damn place.”

I rolled my eyes, “The world doesn't revolve around you.”

“It does.” He answered, “I’m outside your company now. If you don’t appear in 10 seconds, I’ll march there.”

He’s the CEO of the enemy of this company. He knows it would cause a major uproar in the media world, and yet he wants to test me like this.

I sighed, ending the call. I don’t have time for this. This is my life from now on. This is the life I have to live.

A text then came from him.

“So you chose trouble? Saphira Kim Bernadez Wu, you’ll soon give in to me.”

“Then give me your company. I will agree once you do that.”

I had many mistakes in my life. But the most horrible one is loving a mafia boss.

I had once everything at my hands. But I’m barely anything now. And its because of him.

Because of him, I fell in love with the wrong person.

That damn Mafia Boss Alfeo. I curse him.

I don't even know his damn full name so I could curse him.

I was once an heiress, turned spy and when everything was kept from me, I swore I wouldn’t face this.

"I am not yours to keep." I glared at him, not wanting to deal with him anymore.

A playful smirk came to him. He looked so tensed up as if he wanted to prove me wrong. “You will, soon, and I will make you mine.”

The next day, I decided to lose him.

And in order to do that, I have to go on a blind date arranged by my best friend.

Well… People have always been hungry for romance. Eager to date, find their true love, and only to end up getting divorced later.

Such a waste of time.

“So, where do you work?” Asked the man in front of me, who was talking nonstop about his achievements boastfully.

I had spaced out the moment the man started to talk about nothing except himself for the whole night. Such a narcissistic man. I snorted, thinking about how it would be such a waste with that handsome face. Such a waste of my time too.

“So, enough about me. I want to learn more about you. What do you do these days?” Asked my date for the night with a slight interested expression.

“I have a coffee shop.” I blurted out, lying to him. Honestly, I am kind of regretting this decision.

Goodness, just thinking about him makes my stomach churn.

The man in front of me nodded,

I sipped on my coffee and stared at the man in front of me.

“That’s great.”

Suddenly, a phone rang.

I denied answering it and my date just stared at me.

“Are you not going to answer it? It seems important.” He said, “I mean it’s alright for me.”

I laughed sheepishly, not wanting to answer my phone. “Oh, haha, it’s not important.”

Just then, my phone popped up a text message.

“Answer my calls instant or else.”

I rolled my eyes. Yeah right. As if he can do anything. He’s literally on the other side of planet right now. It’s not like he’s going to teleport here.

My phone rang a text message again. From Him.

“Look to your left.”

I followed and my mouth went wide. From the glass window, the very same man I was avoiding was looking at him with a grim look.

I gritted my teeth, and faced my date, “Something emergency came up. It was nice meeting you though.”

“It was a pleasure meeting a woman like you. Then I’ll call you for another date?”

I just shrugged and rushed outside to face the man.

“You followed me on my blind date?” I yelled angrily. Good thing there was not many person here.

“Yes.” The man just replied, holding his cellphone calmly and looked at her. “And why were you in a blind date? I thought we had an agreement.” He said, his voice scolding her. He’s in his suit that is clear that he just came from his meeting and flew straight into here.

“I don’t remember having an agreement with you, Theon.” I replied, sighing heavily.

He just cocked an eyebrow, “Theon? I know you know that I am not my twin sibling…Saphira.”

I breathed, “What do you want, Matheo?”

“You don’t remember signing a letter to me?”

I was shocked, “what?”

“Okay.”

Suddenly, he pulled a paper from his pockets and opened it, to reveal a very messy handwriting.

Civil wedding.

“I agree to be your wife.”

It had a signature of her. She gulped, looking at the man nervously.

“We’re already married.”

No way. This wasn’t supposed to happen! Not when I am already married to his other twin!

As I went back to our house, a pair of angry green eyes greeted me.

My husband, Rameo, was sitting by the dining table. “Where did you go?”

I shrugged, “Just went to buy stuff.”

He stood up, and I dealt with hands snaking around me. “You know you’re not good at lying. Tell me the truth.”

I felt him sneaking a kiss on me but I blocked him, “I’m tired. And isn’t this a contracted marriage? You can drop the act now.”

He sighed, “My dear, prepare for the event later. I’ll text you the details.”

I breathed deeply. This would mean I will meet the three twins. Alfeo Giovanni Venesian III my arranged husband, , Matheo Glaze Venesian who showed up with a marriage certificate, and my officially husband, Rameo Jace Venesian…

All twin siblings under my triple life disguising with different identities. I have wrapped the Venesian siblings from my mission but…at what cost?
