Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Daniel's pov
"We love you, daddy."
I seriously didn't know when a tear came out of my eye.
"I love you too and I'm sorry." I whispered.
"I feel so happy having a dad."
"I feel happy having you two as my children." I replied.
We disengaged and made them stayed beside me.
"Should I tell my mom you're the one who brought the white flowers the other day?" Rhian whispered.
"She might get angry." I pouted and secretly looked at Kira. She was trying to search for something in her bag.
"She can't be angry. Especially, when it's white flowers. Hmm......can't believe we know mom more than you." The girl frowned and folded her arms.
"That's because we've been away for five years now. I never thought I would see her again." I shrugged and stood up, holding their hand.
Kira was talking to someone over the phone but then, she stopped talking and said, "What!?" Her eyes blinked before removing the phone away from her ear.
"Kira, what's wrong?" I talked to her.
I could see she was uncomfortable saying what's wrong to me.
"Talk to me. I might be of help." I urged.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me. Ryan, Rhian let's go home please." She rushed her words.
I grabbed her arm and made her turned to me.
"Tell me, please." I pleaded.
"Fine! The landlord threw my things out." She answered.
"Huh? He threw your things out?"
"Yes. I haven't paid the rent for months." Kira answered, slowly removing her hand from me.
"Let's go there. Can we?" Our eyes met and glad fully, she said yes.
She wanted to take the cab but I had to begged her to come inside the car with me. She did but sat at the backseat with the kids.
We got to her house and saw her things outside. Luckily, the door was opened and the Landlord was inside the house with some boys.
"Are you still here? I thought you ran away." The landlord scoffed when he saw Kira.
"Sir, just give me one more chance. I promise to pay." Kira pleaded, clasping her hands together.
"Have given you more than enough chance, woman. You're leaving this house. And who's this man?" He darted his eyes to me.
"He's just someone I know. Sir, I don't have anywhere to go. I promise to leave next week." Kira responded but the landlord ignored her.
"I can pay for the rent." I chipped in.
Kira glanced at me. "You don't have to pay. I can pay it myself"
"No, I can pay too. As far as my children lives with you. I want to take responsibilities."
"They are my responsibilities too. You don't have to pay." She retorted.
"Stop being stubborn, kira." I sighed.
"Before you two fight, this house is owned by someone already. All you need to do is pack your things, and go away from here." The man chided.
He came out with three boys. Each carrying kira's things. I felt guilty for making Kira live such a life this. I pushed her into this.
Not only her but my kids too.
We watched as the landlord locked the door and collected some keys from Kira.
"Kira........" I kept quiet when she started crying.
"You can stay in a hotel room for today." I concluded.
"Maybe just today. I hate hotel rooms." She answered with the look of hate in her face.
"Come on, sweethearts. We are going somewhere." I said to the kids. I carried Rhian while I held the boy.
"Mom, where are we going?" Rhian asked.
"To a hotel. We need to sleep there cause we won't be living here anymore." Kira replied.
"What about our loads?"
"We will come back to take it. Let's just get there first." I was the one who responded.
We got to the hotel and lodged a room for kira before I and kira went back to pick some important things she'd be using.
"Kira, about the dinner tonight, have you changed your mind?"
"Why are you so bent on making me your date?" She retorted. We leaned on the door, staring at me harshly.
"Maybe it's because you're my personal assistant. And you will be needed there. Okay, just pretend you're my date there." I gulped.
I don't even know how to explain.
"Who's going to stay with the children?" She responded calmly.
My eyes beamed and I said, " My sister, Amanda can stay with the kids or should we take them to my parents?"
"No, Amanda can come stay." She released a wiry smile.
Kira's pov
"So, you're agreeing to this?" Daniel asked. His eyes were blinking with excitement.
"Yes." I nodded.
"Thank you. Yes!!" He said in a low tone.
That 'yes!!' made me remember that five years ago incident. He had exclaimed that word too.
I felt like taking my 'yes' back but part of me wants to leave it.
Ain't I stupid for accepting to be his date? What's he going to do this time?
I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm trying to trust him again. Though a little. And its just for today.
I don't really want him in my life apart from the children's lives. He's their father.
Even the children easily accepted him.
Daniel took his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number.
"Amy? Is that you? Are you busy?"
"Okay, come to classic hotel right now. I want you to stay with Ryan and Rhian." He said.
"Thanks." He added before ending the phone call.
"She's coming. I will pick you up at 7pm. Bye." He bid the kids bye and drove home.
A staff came in and brought us some foods saying it was an order from Daniel.
"Mom, is this where we will be living?"
Ryan said.
"No dear. We will get another house. Probably tomorrow."
"Is that really easy to get a house?" Rhian chipped in.
"It's easy for mommy." I smiled at them.
**
At night, Amanda came as expected. She was so joyous that she'd be staying with the kids.
"I like your dress, Aunty." Rhian complimented.
"Thank you, darling." Amanda giggled.
"Wow! So you will be going with my brother as his date? You look beautiful in that blue dress."
"Thank you."
Daniel came to pick me up while Amanda stayed with the kids.
We got to the party and I became scared. The incident appeared and I grabbed Daniel's shirt tight.
Daniel noticed it and faced me. "I won't do anything to hurt you again. I swear with my life." He said and led me into building.
"Finally, they are here" A man said, behind us.
That word again. 'They are here' l recalled.
I still held his shirt tight.
"Daniel, are you sure? Should I trust you in this?"
"Kira, I'm not going to do anything. I swear."
Why do I feel so scared? I'm doubting Daniel.
Should I trust him in this? Is he going to do anything to me?
I looked up at his face and saw sincerity in his eyes. Then, I nodded.
