Chapter 60: Chapter 60
“Where and how do not matter, Liam! The bottom line is that you both are in the photo kissing. This is enough proof that my daughter is right. You both are having an affair behind her back. This is unforgivable!” Mitch’s mother shouts.
“Yes!” I howled, slapping the photo on Mitch’s face before Liam could slap them with the truth. I want to be the one to nail this witch! “That is enough proof of how desperate your daughter is to tarnish our names. The damn photos you all are calling proof are nothing but the result of a game." I state.
“Game?” they all ask together.
“Yes. It was a freaking game that Liam and I had refused to participate in, but Mitch and her friends forced us to in the end. Only then did we know that she had an ill motive behind it all. This is pure bullshit! It was an innocent truth and dare game, and we had to adhere to the rules of the game.” I explain, and they all snap in her direction with pregnant faces. They are somehow lost.
“It is one thing to be dared to kiss someone, but another very different thing to take advantage of the so-called game.” She faces the photo in our faces. “Look at how you both lost that kiss. Only an idiot would miss the memo. This photo says it all. You poured all your feelings into this kiss.” She screams, and her parents nod their heads in agreement with her lame remark.
I smirk before speaking. “But of course, Mitch! Everything had to be poured into that kiss. While crafting a brilliant plan, you forgot very crucial information to put into consideration. First, Liam and I had a past. We loved each other. We were not bound by some stupid agreement like yours. It was love. True love. Second, we did not part ways because we fell out of love. Circumstances forced us to. The flames of our love could still be burning. Thirdly, Liam and I are connected through this baby. I am giving him something that you denied him. And fourthly, you have not been taking care of your husband’s needs. So, with all those facts among the long list combined together, what did you expect, huh?” My long lecture leaves everyone befuddled; their jaws are almost falling to the floor.
“Are you trying to tell us that you and Liam still love each other? Trying to justify you both cheating on my daughter?” Mitch’s mother asks after recovering from the shock.
“I just stated facts to put some sense into your stupid daughter’s head. The next time you try to do something like this again, Mitch, think outside the box, or be ready to bear the consequences of your foolishness.” I state.
She swallows hard and dry. “But, Mom,” she says, speaking to Liam’s mother, who has been dead-mute since that episode with Liam. She must be hurting, but she asked for it: “You’ve seen the photos. They are just trying to cover up their lies.” She pleads.
"But is it true that it was a game?” Mrs. Adams asks faintly.
“What do you mean by game? There is no such thing as a game where people kiss so intimately, mother. And for such long minutes. You should have seen how they were cuddling and touching, Mom. In front of my eyes, they didn’t even stop to think about me.” Mitch cries.
Think about her. Does she ever think about anyone that we should also consider her feelings? Ooh, yes. By the way, I actually did think about her when I agreed to the dare. I wanted to spite her. I wanted to hurt her. I wanted to get back at her. I wanted to give her a bitter taste of her own medicine for stealing a kiss from Liam a few minutes before this kiss happened. I wanted to drive her berserk with jealousy and disbelief. Shoulder tap!
I freaking succeeded.
“Well, as far as I am concerned, there are no rules as to how long the dare can last. We could have kissed her for life if we wanted to. Next time, bring a timer and some rules with you. That way, you will not draw such absurd allegations that will make you look so stupid and ridiculous.” I state.
“I don’t know what all this is all about, but I know my daughter so well. You two must have given her a good reason to take these measures. And how you are speaking to her shows how much you disrespect her, young lady.” Mrs. Edwards comes to her daughter’s rescue.
“The rift between your daughter and me has been there ever since high school, Mrs. Edwards. I also give respect when and where it is equally reciprocated, and your daughter does not know even how to just respect herself,” I state.
“Well, you’ve got such nerve for someone who is being hoisted. This is my daughter’s home. Common sense should tell you that you need to show a little bit of appreciation for having such a nice roof over your head. But then, what do I expect from such a cheap, low-class person like you? Common sense is not common, and ungratefulness is all you poor people are so good at.” Her mother screams again.
“Poor or not poor, there is no way I will ever respect someone who does not respect me back. And for your information, I owe your daughter absolutely nothing. I am here for and because of Liam. Not your daughter. Never!” I state.
“How dare you! Your bravery tells me there is so much more about this surrogate with my daughter’s husband than you are telling us. And I will find out. I will not let you make a fool out of my daughter anymore.” She states.
Oh, she will? She has decided to help her daughter with the fruitless hassle.
Ooh, well. They have my consent to go ahead and investigate as much as they can.
