Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Beatrice POV
I just arrived here at the hospital to look after my mother. Until now, the words my boss said to me have not disappeared from my mind. He is right, I shouldn't have answered him like that because I owe him a lot because he was the reason why my mother is still alive.
I don't know why he behaves like that because his sister Kiara is kind, maybe one person doesn't have the same behavior even if they are siblings. I just hope he learns to laugh at least once.
"Bea, is there a problem?"
I looked at my mother when she suddenly spoke and I immediately shook my head, "Nothing, there's just too much work done in the office." my answer.
"Maybe you are tiring yourself out too much or your boss is making you do a lot,"
"My work in the office as a secretary is easy, I just manage my boss's schedule," I promise.
"Is your boss treating you well?"
"Sometimes he's kind and sometimes not. I can't blame him because his company is also important to him and one more thing I know is that when he graduated, he was the one who immediately handled the Alcantara Company," I explained.
"Aren't they with their parents?"
"I haven't seen their parents yet and I haven't asked Kiara about it. I don't want her to think anything." I said and she just nodded her head.
Actually, in the two months I worked with Storm, I didn't see their parents, so I thought they might be in another country because that's how rich people are often busy with their businesses.
I got up to fix the food I bought before coming here.
"When can I get out of here?" my mother asked.
"When you feel better, you can go out," I answered.
"That's good news because I miss our house,"
"As long as you are okay and ready to go, I know you don't want to stay in this place," I promised to smile.
She nodded at me. "Thank you, Bea. I know how hard it was for you, especially when I was in the hospital. You hardly have time off from work,"
"What are you saying? You know that I will do everything for you, right? You are the only one left with me now. And I have a stable job now, so I don't need to work four jobs because my salary now is enough," I explained to her.
"I know you still have to pay your boss for the money he paid for my surgery,"
"Don't worry about it and I'll take care of that," I said. I don't want my mother to think about it.
"That's why you need to reduce your attitude once in a while so that your boss will get annoyed with you and fire you,"
I sighed. "I can't help but answer him since he's really getting on my nerves," I said.
"Maybe your boss has a reason why he is like that, everyone has a pretense of kindness,"
I nodded because of what my mother said, I'm sure she was right because I didn't know Storm well yet.
"You're right mom, I'll avoid that kind of behavior. Let's eat first so you can take your medicine," I said,
After we ate, my mother took her medicine and rested, we just needed to wait for a few more days before we could finally go home.
When I had nothing to do, I lay down on the long chair inside my mother's room, until now I still haven't gotten out of my mind about my boss, maybe my mother is right that there is a reason why he is like that but in Kiara's story, her brother is kind, maybe he's just not showy to other people.
Since I started working with Storm as her secretary, I have seen their uncles and aunts several times. They're friends of their parents but what I wonder is where their father and mother are.
Are they so busy that the four of them can't be together?
Others indeed say that there are rich people who are not happy in their lives, sometimes because they are so busy that they forget their families. So I can say that I am still lucky with my life because even though we are not rich, we are happy and content.
I got up and made coffee, no matter how I tried to close my eyes, I didn't feel sleepy.
I promised myself that even if I didn't finish college, I will do everything to lift us out of poverty. My mother raised me well and gave me a happy life, I will never get tired of working just to provide for her needs.
