Chapter 74: Chapter 74
Azians POV
We stared into her concerned pleading eyes. Alpha wasn't for it at all. He didn't like the plan and honestly neither did Omega and I. It seemed easier to just do away with her. Just one blast of fire is all it would take.
But no, Abigail was right. She was much older than us and we needed to learn to think a little more like her. She was striving for a more long-term solution than the one of impulse rattling through our skulls at the moment.
We really did have to think more of Kaya than of our rage. We were doing this for her. Edwin had spent the last hour trying to discuss things over with me about Kaya and the plan and I had gotten a total of three things from his little lecture.
Firstly, Abigail knew i had been seeing Kaya. I wasn't really surprised about this. It just seemed logical that she would have found out sooner or later. And we did tend to underestimate her and forget she was a great witch for a reason.
Secondly, Edwin had taken it upon himself to make sure I was aware of the consequences of this plan failing, and what it meant for Kaya. Honestly after number two I really was going to behave.
Number 3, I learnt all by myself, I was over working Edwin. Stress lines began to show whenever he tried to drill anything into my head.
And to that, all I can say is that it was about time he played his guardian role, over the years I began to think Abigail was my guardian.
Hence why when she stared at me, I nodded.
"Alright, even though I still prefer my previous suggestion. We will stick to the plan... I'll try to keep Alpha in check, but we can only do so much, the best thing is to keep Khloe as far away as possible from us. The thought of her brings...” I trailed off as her name slipped out, shifting in my chair, I could see faint sparks underneath my fingers,
"rage, A very bad type of rage" I added.
Abigail glanced at my barely glowing hands then back at me, nodding in understanding, "alright, I'll try to keep her busy till its time, just don’t, DONT completely lose it."
I nodded as she sighed glancing at Edwin, "breakfast?" she asked.
We all agreed in unison taking ourselves to the dining hall.
It was after breakfast when Khloe arrived.
"Morning," she greeted everyone with the usual fake smile plastered on her face and Alpha growled at the sight of it.
Everyone faked a good morning in return as she turned to look at me. Why was she still alive again? The reason seemed to slip away with every passing second as she walked towards me with a bright smile.
Alpha was counting down slowly in my head with each step. She took. 6 more steps to destruction.
5 more steps to destruction.
4 more steps to destruction.
"Uh Khloe!" Anna began quickly before she could reach me causing her to turn. My eyes burned as I watched her. She shouldn't even be able to walk, nevertheless breathe right now.
Her presence was irritating the hell out of us, my hold on Alpha was slipping with each passing moment.
"Can you come help me carry the snacks dear? We will be training for a while i thought we should carry snacks"
"Yes, of course Anna," she said swiftly turning back to me.
3 steps to destruction
2 steps to destruction
"Now....please?" Anna began stressing the now.
Khloe's eyebrows furrowed but nevertheless nodded turning toward Anna, she glanced back at me. “I'll be back baby" she cooed.
I couldn't even force myself to nod.
Abigail's hand clamped down on my shoulder, "Azian. Please" she purred in my ear before following Khloe and Anna out.
"She survived that, let’s see if she can survive the rest of the day, shall we? I bet 10 bucks she dies before sunset, what about you Edwin?" Alessia asked with humor dancing in her eyes.
Ena rolled her eyes, "Child, just make sure she stays far away from Azian, keep her busy until its time." She said pulling Alessia toward her.
She leaned in whispering something in Alessia's ear that my dragon ears caught quite easily, "or I bet by midday she will be very close to nothing but ash" she added as they walked out the door.
Mariah chuckled causing Edwin and I to look at her. She cleared her throat, "it’s not that funny" she said lowly, persuading herself to stop grinning.
I breathed out wondering how we were going to manage one full day in Khloe's presence.
Mariah seemed to notice because she sat down next to me, "it’s just for a few hours, then you'll be free. Completely, soon" she eased.
Edwin nodded in agreement, "I'll help you burry her after, promise" he added causing Maria to slap him at the back of his head playfully sending me to chuckling for the first time since yesterday.
"Boys! It's time to go!" Abigail called from somewhere outside after a short while.
Edwin, Maria and I walked out into the backyard, hearing Khloe laugh, sickening me further. Why should she be the one happy? My fists clenched but Edwin dropped his large hand on my shoulder giving me a grin that was meant to stop me from doing something drastic.
"And where do you want to end up?" Alessia asked her as we came into view.
Khloe glanced at me blushing, "I'm not a complicated girl, just washed up on some private beach, with my mate, and it’s all I want"
"Uh huh, " Alessia replied glancing at me.
No one was going to bury her. Alpha thought.
**
The fresh air attacked my face as i looked up into the sky, past the forest trees, my golden eyes seeing farther to the river that winded around our training field.
This was a new pocket. One we hadn't been to before, but then again they all were. The sun was making its way to the middle of the sky and the birds were chirping loudly.
I stared into the clouds as Orion's wings flapped like two thunder clouds in the distance. His big body shining against the sun, his purplish scales glowing for a minute.
I wondered how it would be like to finally Fly, when Alpha decided to stop being a pussy and come out already.
Alpha grumbled at this as Abigail walked towards me, "Orion?" She asked watching him fly so high and so far he looked no bigger than a bird.
"He's going to hunt for a while as usual, but don't worry I told him not to scorch the trees this time" I replied sighing.
She nodded her eyes still on him, "agh well, Alessia was right, he does get bigger everyday"
"Is that all she said?" I asked slyly glancing at Alessia who was standing with Ena and Khloe setting things down a distance away, while Mariah laid out a blanket.
"That, and how apparently ugly he is" she said chuckling.
I shook my head unable to hold back the short laugh threatening to explode, "he isn't ugly, just a little scary" I replied. Alessia would never admit she was scared of Edwin.
Abigail chuckled as if reading my mind watching as Mariah approached us, "everything's set, we’re just waiting for you two," she announced.
Abigail nodded turning to me, "I know you can't wait to start but remember, this shouldn't look suspicious, like always we will start with your elements" she said.
I gritted my teeth but nodded as she gave me a determined look, "okay, let's go join the others"
To think I could have been at school talking to Kaya today but no, once again Khloe’s giving us a reason to end her. Omega complained.
Alpha growled in agreement.
I clenched my jaw stalking towards the rest of the gang. I chose to stand between Mariah and Alessia. Any closer to Khloe and I might blow this whole thing out.
Abigail squinted as she tried to spot Orion in the clouds, sighing when she couldn't see him, "alright, I guess Edwin won't be joining us for a while. Okay we better start training, the first thing were going to do as usual is elements,"
I caught Alessia rolling her eyes at this, "I chose this open field in particular so we don't destroy much of the vegetation," Abigail continued.
I looked out to the field we were currently in. It was quite wide , filled with tall grass in some areas until it reached the forest trees a good distance away. I strained my ears a little and I could hear the gurgling of a river past the forest.
She turned back to us, focusing more on me, "I know you're very comfortable with your Fire element, " she began risking a glance at Khloe who still seemed rather clueless, "and this year we've focused a lot on your water element, I'm proud to say Omegas doing very good." She finished.
Omega was listening, swelling with pride. Leave it to him to feel buttered up whenever Abigail gave him praise.
"For the last couple of years we managed to get in some earth and air elements but we haven't worked on them this year, I want to see if you're still as good as I remember, with the same tactics" she said.
"I'm sure he is, is there anything he's bad at?" Alessia asked rolling her eyes.
Khloe was the only one that chuckled at this remark, "I don't think there is," she commented.
I breathed out, the sound of her voice was quite annoying, shocking me when she suddenly moved closer to me as if just realizing she hadn't touched me today.
I gritted my teeth catching Abigail's pleading gaze as Khloe interlocked our hands.
I thought we would have to catch her before we end her. It's good she came willingly. Alpha growled.
I could feel the aggression heating up under my eye lids, causing me to immediately snatch my hand away from her storming off in the opposite direction.
I could feel Khloe's shocked eyes on me as I moved away, hearing Abigail make up some sort of excuse.
This was not going to work properly if Alpha made it a point to always be hostile around her. Not that I blamed him. But we should do this one thing for Abigail and Kaya.
Right?
Alpha grumbled in agreement as I stopped a good distance away.
"Alright Azian!" Abigail called, "let's see if you still remember!"
Remember what? Cutting a rock from the earth with my mind and lifting it thirty feet into the air? That session? Of course I remembered.
And that was just too easy.
I wanted to do something different.
I could feel myself burn and I realized we were only irritated. Maybe we could take out some steam in this little exercise of Abigail's.
I tried to focus my energy on the earth, but the irritation only gnawed at me harder. I breathed out giving it a try again but still I could only feel frustration.
Why was Omega so frustrated? I looked up to see Abigail's concerned look and a frown on her face, probably wondering why I wasn't doing anything.
I didn't know why I wasn't doing anything. I could feel the power, but it was more like Omega was blocking its energy.
I closed my eyes trying to refocus, searching deep in me for my useless Power. Omega seemed to be ignoring us.
Why?
You let her touch us that's why! I told you I don't like her! Omega yelled back.
Really? It lasted less than a second. Stop being a baby so we can finally finish her off.
"You can do it baby!" Khloe called clapping her hands in glee. She probably thought she was being supportive but the poor girl only sealed her fate in that second.
"No, I'll finish her off" Omega boomed, "By earth element it is"
Before I even had the chance to reply Omega had taken over, my eyes swarmed electric green as I came into eye contact with Abigail, her face morphing into shock as if she could read our minds.
She probably could, Omega always left some sort of open connection between the two of them.
The ground began to shift softly at first, as if it was barely nothing, then it began to shake, and shake it did. The trees began to sway as the wind began to blow fiercer.
Agh well Abigail did say the air element as well right?
She did. Alpha replied not caring in the least about what omega was doing. He seemed to be enjoying it actually.
The birds began to fly away in flocks dimming the sky, with every shake of the earth. Then the ground cracked...
"Uh.. Azian!"" Abigail called her face in panic mode.
Oh she didn't have to worry, she was perfectly safe. I eased relaxing at the back of my mind.
Too bad we can't say the same for everyone. Alpha replied as I realized what Omega was doing.
The crack began right in front of Khloe and she screamed when the ground parted ways, the space between her and the rest of the gang, the crevice deepening with each passing second she remained screeching her lungs off at the edge.
I rolled my eyes bored, why does she have to exaggerate everything? It's just a thirty foot jump. And she's a vampire she could easily run away from the edge. What’s the point of having super speed if you didn't know when to use it?
No sooner had I thought this, Omega cracked the surface of the earth once more, this time the one right behind Khloe so she only remained on a small piece of earth, trapped on her very on private island.
Would you look at that? Dreams do come true.
She was surrounded by what seemed like a forty foot drop only deepening by the second.
Too bad she can't fly. Alpha grunted
This made me chuckle. All that power and she couldn't do the one thing that could just possibly save her life
"ALPHA!" She screamed glancing around her in full panic mode.
I think she's talking to you,
I don't hear anything.
The wind began to swirl around every one of us, I could feel every strand of my hair blowing in the wind. It was too much for her to handle, it was completely becoming undone! I had to stop it!
Hey, Hey, hey! Not too close to Anna, she just got her hair done! I scolded Omega. What was he? Crazy? She put a lot of time into that.
He began creating mini whirl winds all over the opposite side of the fields, till they came together at a certain point and literally dropped off the face if the earth, into the deep bottomless pit. Of darkness.
Khloe suddenly gasped stepping back from the ledge. I didn't understand where she thought she was going because she would fall off from the other side if she took two more steps back.
The wind came back in one big whirl from the bottom of the crevice, a mixture of earth, leaves, air and every other little thing. I think I even spotted the snacks Anna had so very carefully packed away for us.
Agh well there goes our lunch.
I honestly had no idea we could create mini hurricanes.
MINI? WHAT AM I? A BABY? OMEGA BELLOWED BACK
I sighed. We always ended up arguing. But omega was almost always wrong.
Alpha, what size is that? I asked bored.
Miniature .He replied.
Told you so
Maybe not the smartest thing to do because it seemed to only boost Omegas rage. Our eyes deepened into a deeper forest shade as he tilted his head to the side.
THEN LETS GO BIG. OMEGA GRUNTED
The earth rattled in a new found rage and from the corner of my eyes I saw panic filling Alessia's face. It was then I realized that maybe we had gone a little too far.
Khloe's screams echoed violently against the rattle of the earth and the swirl of the wind.
"AZIAN STOP THIS NOW!" Abigail screeched at the top of her lungs.
In the distance I could hear a beat of wings and I knew Orion was rushing back.
Come on, that's enough Omega. I eased sighing. We scared the poor girl enough for one day.
Omegas rage dimmed.
Fix it. I urged.
He sighed scratching the back of his neck before the wind finally died like it was a candle being blown out.
Khloe stopped screaming and I could finally see her bewildered face as the ground began to heal itself.
Agh Omega you've put us in big trouble. I joked eyeing Abigail's stern expression.
Khloe looked a mess when she stomped back to me, I could practically see the anger steaming off her, super speeding towards me before anyone's else could get to me.
Now she wants to use her super speed.
I thought inwardly rolling my eyes.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?! I COULD HAVE DIED!"
She’s half immortal, sadly it's quite unlikely.
I faked the most confused expression I cared to muster, "What? Why would you say that?" I asked
"ARE YOU CRAZY? I COULD HAVE FALLEN RIGHT OF THE FACE OF THE EARTH!"
"I wouldn't have let that happen!" I lied right through my teeth, "baby you must know omega was only playing around. There is no way I could possibly hurt MY Mate" I replied with fake concern.
She looked at me like I had grown to heads.
If I had, none of them would be listening to her rants.
"You call that playing around?!" She yelled.
I put my hand over my heart in mock sincerity, "I honestly thought you knew Omega, I mean he is the most daring of us three" I replied.
Her eyes seemed to be studying my face trying to see if this was real. If I was being serious. Obviously she had a poor judge of character because she visibly relaxed, "oh. I just. I hate heights" she finally said.
Who would have known over all of that screaming?
I put on a sad face, my face morphing into complete shock, "I-I" adding a stutter to complete the effect, "I never knew"
"It's okay," She trailed off as Abigail finally reached us, "Azian! What part of KEEP IT SIMPLE didn't you understand? Khloe are you alright?" Abigail asked.
She actually looked worried, but I knew it was not in the least bit over Khloe.
She nodded as I responded, "Psh, I'm sorry Abigail. Omega wanted to impress you so." I trailed off forgetting my excuse, "yeah that's what happened."
She looked between us for a second pursing her lips. I knew she wanted to say more but again she didn't want to draw this out of proportion.
Luckily, Orion took her mind off everything that just happened when the sound of his wings was heard as he came flying towards us.
The ground thudded as Orion landed a few feet away roaring loudly shaking his large head.
"Excuse me" I said moving toward him I was glad I was away from her presence. I was literally suffocating. I approached the beast who flapped his wings a few times as if in excitement.
My eyes glowed its supreme gold calming him immediately as he bowed his head low, growling. His large tale swiping back and forth like a huge winged dog.
I lifted my hand out and he pulled himself toward it like a drug, his purple eyes focused on me in submission. My palm slid over his hard scaled nose, his breath hot over my hand. But I hardly felt the heat. Orion couldn't breathe fire, but that didn't mean he couldn't release substantial amount of heat.
He was completely still underneath my power allowing me to take the time to sweep him in. His body glowed a dim dark purple that rubbed against him in some open bony areas. His tongue came out a few times, thick, forked tip and long.
"Calm me, before I burn a vampire" I muttered to him. He seemed to understand me his large eye blinking, revealing his snake like appearance.
Orion was huge by himself, his bony wings folded rising up a little as he shook his large head in a shiver.
I traced him from his head all the way to the back of his neck taking steps to analyze this huge being. He purred against me his large tail thumping to the right side, as he suddenly lay his body on the green grass letting out a short hot breath.
I gagged shaking my head, "antelope? Huh?" I asked.
Deep rumbles came from deep within him as he agreed.
Alessia came walking towards us with a grin plastered on her face, stopping a good few feet away from us. "You were awesome!" She announced then suddenly threw a small rock at me, causing both Orion and I to growl.
"I lost ten bucks to Ena because of you! You couldn't just wait till evening?!"
I rolled my eyes chuckling as Orion grumbled in frustration, "ewe" Alessia said shaking her head.
"Are you scared of him?" I asked, she had never really got near him, maybe a few times when she was younger. She used to love Orion.
"No...I'm not. I never get scared!" She snapped back.
"Uh huh" I replied clearly remembering the look she had given me earlier, "then come, come give Orion a pat" I eased.
She visibly gulped looking hesitant. "C’mon, it's just Edwin" I replied, "and I'm here. Nothing’s going to happen"
She shifted a little uncomfortably in her spot before moving toward me. I grabbed her hand placing her palm where mine was, "see he doesn't bite" I replied
Orion growled lowly causing Alessia to jump back.
I chuckled, "behave Orion, c'mon" I eased pulling her hand back. She trailed down his jaw timidly, "he's hot" she muttered.
Orion rumbled, causing Alessia to roll her eyes, "Not in that way, only in your dreams Edwin" she huffed pulling her hand away, "okay enough of this, Abigail wants you back, " Alessia finished turning back to me.
I smirked knowing she still felt uncomfortable, "alright I'm coming" I replied.
She nodded turning to Orion, "and you can fly away, or whatever you do" she said with her usual scowl.
I chuckled as she left our presence, "agh, she's a little like Micheal" I said patting Orion's head, "relax a bit, I'm going to draw some blood" I eased.
He turned his big head to me steam rolling off his nostrils. I could almost see Edwin giving me the look.
I laughed, "Relax, she'll be fine. At least for now,”
Orion growled as I walked away, "Behave!" I called back.
