Chapter 72: Chapter 72

Kaya’s POV

"Finders are the closest things to being completely human, in fact I would say they are human. They only differ in scent, there's is a little more unique than the average human,"

"Alright, so. What are these finders?"

"Well, they are practically descendants of old species. Most likely in the last two hundred years they had an ancestor who was of the supernatural community. Mostly these are witches in particular.

Sometimes Magic dies in family lines when they continuously mix with those that are not their kind in this cause humans. Blood is forgotten and they and their descendants fade into nothing.

Of course magic can never really completely be gone, that's why once every other generation from the descendants of every forgotten ancient blood, a finder, a glimpser or a hunter is born."

"What are those?"

"It's not anything particularly phenomenal, it’s just nature making sure magic continues to live..." He looked into my eyes as if trying to figure out if I was understanding anything.

I must not have passed his cross examination because he went on further to explain, "Alright, maybe this will help. Palm readers? Those that take your hand and see into your future, you know those yeah? I mean the genuine one's not the knock offs"

I nodded. Who didn't?

"Those are glimpsers, they are able to take glimpses into the past or future. But there gift cannot be compared to that of a witch seer, because they can only see glimpses of one person’s future or past one at a time as compared to a witch seer who can foretell the end of the world if it were coming. Glimpsers are more like counterfeits, their magic is not always reliable" he added before glancing back out on the fields, "neither can they choose what to see, and it's not very deep. They can't say, you’re going to win the lottery tomorrow because they can't see it, they can however sense that something that will bring you great joy will happen tomorrow. I don't know if I'm explaining it well" he trailed off

I couldn't believe I was talking about the supernatural so easily as if a week ago I hadn't been questioning its existence. "And hunters?"

"Hunters and Finders are more similar. A finder can easily become a hunter and vice-versa"

"So what's the difference?"

"Hunters are...” He trailed off his eyes becoming darker, "horrid really, they hunt the supernatural"

"Hunt? Like kill?" I asked suddenly feeling alarmed.

"Sort of, not all hunters kill but they are mostly known for it. See hunters are just human beings with the ability to attract the supernatural to them. Their blood has a certain smell that draws the supernatural.

There is a certain brother hood which dedicates themselves to finding hunters, brainwashing them to attract, hunt and kill any supernatural creature, that's why hunters are dangerous to us. Finders are also a treasure to the brother hood, but they never recruit females for some reason."

"So what makes Finders different from Hunters?"

"While hunters attract, Finders sense.  There usually humans who have the ability to feel the supernatural, and most spend their whole lives searching for it. It's sad actually, some never do.

It’s a feeling of something more, just at the tip of fingers but not being able to find that one click that will put everything into perspective. It drives some to madness."

"Well, then Ally's lucky she did. She did find that one click"

Legion nodded sighing, "yes, and that click would be you,” he replied brushing a strand of my hair.

" Ally isn't the first Finder I've met actually but she is admittedly different. I have never met one with the ability to understand Lycans as well" he said his eyebrows furrowing.

"Huh,” I trailed off not knowing what to say. He grinned sliding closer to me, "so what's the next question?"

I hummed glancing at the piece of paper not even reading it because I had a question of my own, "Who are you Legion?" I asked watching him closely.

He chuckled twirling my hair around his fingers, "isn't that why you're asking these questions? To get to know me?"

I rolled my eyes, "not like that, I mean. Who are you, really?"

His fingers paused in my hair, his face a blank sheet of nothing.

"I mean, I know you're a Lycan, but you're different. Different from every other Lycan at this school. And before you ask, yes I am aware that not all kids at this school are human.

Some quiver at the very sight of you. Like today, you growled or whatever it is you do and everyone just disappeared as if by command. Even now,” I began glancing around, "the moment we sat on this bench, the four kids at the back completed scattered. So I ask again. Who are you?"

He studied my face for a minute before moving closer to me, he trailed his finger along my jaw, "sometimes I underestimate you Kaya,"

"Really? Well stop doing that. You'll keep getting surprised" I replied mindlessly.

He bit down on his bottom lip, his eyes growing darker as if wondering if he should say something or not, "what do you think I am?"

I shrugged, I had tried to think about it but I had drawn blanks. Just like I did with Azian, "I don't know..." I faded off as scene flashed into my mind.

Legion completely annihilating those thugs in the alley. What if he was some mindless warrior thing that killed on command? He surely seemed quite okay with it all, ripping a man to shreds that is.

I was creped out I wasn't freaking out after witnessing such a gruesome murder. But I never really thought about it, till now.

However I wasn't going to tell Legion of this guess. No it would be taken to the grave.

"How about another question?" He asked after some time.

"Why don't you want to answer the question?" I asked my heart beating quicker. What was he hiding? What if he really was a mindless killer?

"It's not that I don't want to answer it, I just don't think you're ready to hear it, it could change everything between us and I don't want anything drastic to happen. I just found you Kaya" he eased slowly.

"That's not soothing at all" I replied, "now I'm left wondering what this secret is and what's so bad about it, that it could change everything" I replied lowly.

He frowned, "it's not Bad, at least I don't think it is, but your reaction could be different, please, just trust me on this, I don't want to argue. Not on the first day." He stared straight into my eyes, "not ever, I was only made to love you Kaya"

Love. A word I was thankfully forbidden to utter since this morning.

I stared at the piece of paper quickly, trying to focus. It was way too early for that and I felt guilty. I hadn't even told Legion about Azian yet.

Would I ever? No

Yes. He deserved to know.

Not now though. Not now.

"Alright next question" I said trying to brighten my tone. Legions eyes saddened for a moment and I hoped he wouldn't say anything.

"Next question it is," he replied lowly.

I cleared my throat reading the question in my mind 3 times before saying it out loud, "is there a world. Like another world just for the supernatural?" I asked reading through Ally’s quick lines.

Legion smiled at this like it was a question he hadn't expected but was glad it had been asked, "Yes, yes there is"

I ticked the box marked yes before turning for a more proper explanation, "really? Where is it?"

He grinned wider, "it's hidden of course there is only one portal. Well one I know of. I can't really describe it because well I don't really remember it well. It's been so long." He sighed stretching his legs, "I remember that it's guarded by a Minotaur, who only let's those decreed by noble blood through and sometimes those that bribe it, at least those are the rumors on this side" he said

Wouldn't Ally be glad to hear that? The beast on her bedroom wall was very real.

"What's it like?"

"Hideous, with two large horns protruding from its equally large head,"

I giggled shaking my head, "no I meant your world"

Legion laughed too before looking at me dreamily, "it's wonderful. Everything’s so beautiful. The people are great, nature. At least it was before I." He trailed off clearing his throat. He sat up more rigid than what I was used to.

"Are you okay?" I asked concerned.

He closed his eyes for a second before opening them, his usual grin plastered on his face, "yes, I just zoned out for a moment. It's a...uhmm...it’s nice. You would like it there," he replied less friendly than he had been before.

I took that as a cue to go to the next question, "how does the Lycan thing work?" I asked.

"What?" He echoed clearly puzzled.

"Like does it just come whenever you feel like it? Is it alive?" I trailed off still reading from the note. Admittedly Ally really was a Finder. Some of these questions were very well thought out.

Legion chuckled pulling his weight up to his elbows, "firstly it's a he, and secondly I assure you Xeric is very alive. Sometimes a pain in the ass"

A deep growl sounded from nowhere causing me to turn around.

"That's him again, sorry"

My eyebrows furrowed, moving closer to Legion, "you mean he is like another person?" I didn't know why I was whispering.

Legion laughed out loud for a few second, "more like a personality that tends to take over from time to time. Like a hot cold situation. Me being cold and him being hot. And he can hear you even though you whisper"

"And Xeric, Xeric is his name?" I asked moving closer to him.

Legions eyes darkened suddenly, turning pitch black causing me to lose my breaths "Yes, Yes it is," he replied before suddenly switching back to his normal shade.

Legion sighed, "Sorry, he wasn't supposed do that, he's just excited. Kaya? Are you alright?" He asked waving his hand over my face.

I blinked twice after a few seconds in complete shock, "I-I."

My phone buzzed in my lap and I took a peak at it, Aunt Lily texted she was almost here.

I guess she had won the argument.

I sighed, "I have to go get by bag, my Aunts almost here" I announced slipping my phone into my back pocket.

"I almost forgot you had to go" he said quite disappointed. I nodded having had enjoyed our time together, "I would have stayed but Aunt Lily told me to stay away from you, she still hasn't gotten over what we are or what Caleb is"

Legion laughed, "I almost forgot, he requested I ask you about her, something about your aunt not picking his calls?"

"She had a pretty hard night" I replied with a soft chuckle as we stood up, laughing in unison till a thought hit me, "is Caleb her mate?" I asked.

Legion shook his head, "no, Caleb is a guardian,” he replied as we came down the bleachers, "guardians don't have mates," he replied as we started to walk in the direction of the school building, "guardian? What's that and why don't they have mates?"

"Guardians are born especially to protect. They are usually immune to magic and loyal to whom they need to protect. That would be much more complicated with a mate involved"

"So is Caleb. Your guardian?" I asked.

Legion froze at this question as if deciding whether he should answer it or not, "yes" he said finally as we entered the school building.

"But why do you need a guardian? Do all lycans have guardians? It would be pretty weird right? Then what would be the use of having a Lycan?"

"Yes it would, but no, not all Lycans have guardians...only a select few" he replied lowly.

He seemed to know the next question I was going to ask because he suddenly looked very distant making me hesitate.

I looked up noticing we were already near my locker and I had to grab a few things.

The hallways were not completely clear even though school was over. A cheer leader past us by on her way to practice and a few students were lounged around the hall way.

I turned to go to my locker, taking my bag out before locking it shut. I probably should use the bathroom before I go, I thought just as my phone buzzed.

I took it out of the pocket, reading a text from Dad, they were right out front.

Unbelievable. These two really did show up together.

I turned back to face legion, but discovered he was a little to close already making me hold my breath in surprise.

"You have to go now?" He asked softly. I nodded gulping, he was too close causing me to take a clumsy step back trapping myself between Legion and the locker walls.

He moved closer, eyes trapped in mine and I saw it. That look of want, of passion and of lust.

Lust never disappoints.

My heart began to pound loudly knowing what was going to happen next, my breathing becoming quick and shallow.

"I would like to kiss you Kaya, it's all I've been thinking about," he added his eyes darkening. His hands snaked around my waist and I thought I might as well disappear.

Legion was going to kiss me.

And I felt so guilty. These were the lips I offered to Azian so easily.

His was the eyes, I wished were before me that moment.

I shouldn't have nodded my head at that moment. I really shouldn't have.
