Chapter 71: Chapter 71
Kaya’s POV
Ally turned to me squeezing my hand, "look, if you really feel like you don't want to be here, we can just go home. Like if all this mate thing is too much on you." She trailed off when I gave her look,
"No, I'm here already and it's just like every other day. All I'm going to do is pretend I don't notice him as usual and he won't pay attention...as usual" I finished replaying the sentence in my head.
"And...This is Azian were talking about I suppose?"
I gave her a glare and she chuckled, "I'm just messing with you,” she said poking my arm again.
I turned to open the car door but she suddenly pulled me back, her smile completely dissolving, "don't think too much Kaya, alright?" She said looking deep into my eyes.
She could see straight through the weak walls that I had built up, right past their temporary foundations to the real truth.
I didn't know how I would react seeing him. It wasn't like the other times when I thought it had all been but a dream. No this was all real. Every kiss, every word, every emotion had been real.
I didn't know what would hurt me more, if he actually talked to me again or if he pretended that I didn't exist once more.
"Look, I know it hurts but just keep it simple. Legions your mate and he, well he is the one who is destined for you. I don't know what Azians end game was seeing that he already had Khloe for a mate but still went ahead to-" she trailed off probably realizing that I was one word away from a tear slip.
"Forget about that...just keep it simple." She repeated again, "Legion is your mate, he is good. Azian belongs to Khloe. End of story" she put in watching my every emotion.
I nodded but she looked unsure of herself giving me a big thumbs up as I came out of the car.
Students were filing into school and once again the halls were crowded. It was after all a Friday and everyone came alive on Friday.
I kept my eyes on the floor, focusing on the many pairs of feet that walked by. I didn't want to look up and accidentally lock eyes with Azian, or simply the mistake of seeing him.
Ally was right. I had to come to terms with the truth. I turned my head to the side, catching a glimpse of a group of jocks playing with a pair of basket balls throwing them over people's heads.
One ball came flying just past my head and was caught by a good-looking brown haired boy. In that split second I spotted his eye color shift from his brown eyes to more of a hazel mix. It happened in less than a split second but I had caught it.
He definitely was not human.
I turned my head to the left and caught sight of a girl with dark raven locks staring at her through the mirror, her past her hand over her mouth and suddenly there was a dark shade of lipstick that hadn't been there were second ago.
My eyebrows furrowed as I started noticing every little thing.
"There he is," Ally announced causing my heart to thump. I didn't want to look up and see him but I couldn't stop the desire to peak.
"I mean Legion not Azian," Ally whispered back in a just in case you were thinking differently tone. Which I had been.
This made my heart beat slower, but not all the way down. I still felt nervous seeing him after last night.
I looked up and saw him leaning against my locker. As usual the vicinity had been cleared and this part of the hallway was very much less populated.
I found it funny how Azian and Legion had a lot in common but were polar opposite.
They both demanded attention whenever they walked into a room, but Legion was more deadly, like people knew crossing paths with him wasn't a wise idea.
Azian on the other hand was more mysterious. Nobody crossed paths with him because they couldn't understand whether to cower in fear or gape at his beauty, it left some people scampering in random directions while others stuck as a statue just watching him.
Legion rolled his head in our direction and when our eyes locked he gave me a half grin like smirk that made a sparkle echo through his eyes.
My heart did a summersault as he pulled up to meet us. "Hey" he greeted with a certain charm.
"Hi" I replied my cheeks heating up. How does this mate thing work again?
His smile widened as if he could recognize the embarrassment radiating off of me.
"And hello to you" Ally bubbled up next to me allowing Legion to give her a polite nod before he suddenly tugged at my wrist pulling my fingers out of their clenched hold one by one like a little toddler.
His touch brought shivers of electric waves that seemed to be traveling up and down the region our skin touched, "I've been waiting patiently for you" he said lowly, further establishing the fact that he was indeed in fact a toddler.
That didn't help with the giddy feeling that traveled up and down my spine till it tickled my feet, causing me to smile in response.
"Okay, yeah, don't mind me. I'm just walking to my locker" Ally called moving away from us.
I looked up my eyes capturing her every move as she made her way to her locker which was about three spaces away from mine.
Legions hand slipped into mine, it was only then I recognized all the looks people were throwing our way, some whispering amongst themselves
I felt Legion whisper in my ear sending a shiver down my spine, "I hope you're not too uncomfortable, it’s just, I really want to touch you," he said firmly intertwining our fingers with mine.
I couldn't lie, his soft words and sweet voice sent my heart soaring, causing a delicious thought come echoing at the back of my head.
How did I get so lucky?
Again I was met with some unwanted eyes and a sea of students murmuring and pointing at us.
I was never one for attention, I hated all the staring and the pointing but strangely it wasn't really bothering me at the moment as I risked a glance over the student body.
What if Azian saw Legion and I? He seemed to have expressed his dislike of Legion a lot in our time together.
Would he react? Or would he still continue to pretend I didn't exist as the sun was still up?
Did I want him to react? Yes
No. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to be holding hands with Legion in the middle of the school hall.
I suddenly felt very guilty like what I was doing was something wrong. But it couldn't be wrong? This is what mates do right?
Again with the stares.
My cheeks heated up in embarrassment and Legion pulled me closer to him, "what's wrong?" he asked in a concerned tone as if somehow he could sense my unhappy aura.
I looked up at him shyly, shaking my head, "nothing really, just, I'm not used to all the uhmm…Attention" I said between my nervous chuckles.
He looked up and seemed to be surprised as if just realizing that though people were standing a safe distance away from us they were busy looking and pointing at us.
His gaze was fixed upon them in an instant and suddenly his eyes went pitch blank and he released a low growl.
It only lasted for a few seconds and it wasn't even that audible but it was enough to send everyone scattering for the hills in every which way.
"H-how did you-?"
"I'll tell you later," he replied with a soft grin kissing the side of my head, just as the first bell rang, "let me walk you to your class, princess"
I nodded glancing at Ally who had a look of awe in her eyes. As we headed to class at the back of my mind I hoped Azian didn't show...but I was yet to see him.
**
Agh well, I soon found out through the school gossip vine that the popular four had not come to school today. Not Alessia, not Edwin, definitely not Azian.
Not even Khloe.
I was relieved yet disappointed for some reason as I walked out of my last period, Ally right beside me, we spotted Legion once more coming towards us from the end of the hall way.
Ally stopped me in my tracks pulling me to the side, "I might as well be leaving seeing that your Dad and Aunt are going to pick you up and Legion will definitely want to talk to you while you wait, " she began.
I nodded thinking about Dad and Aunt Lily, quickly glancing at my wrist watch. If I knew the two of them well, they had either been too busy arguing to remember that today was a Friday even after reminding them, or they were arguing about which car to take when picking me up.
I seriously doubted they could survive 15 minutes in the car with each other. I was pretty sure one of them would give in and let the other come.
Either way, I knew I would be waiting for some time. Which I actually didn't mind seeing as I wanted to spend some time alone with Legion.
Yep, I found myself wanting to be near him the past couple of hours and occasionally, only occasionally thought of Azi- Mr. Asshole.
"Alright then, I don't mind you leaving" I began before Ally intruded,
"I'm not going home, not yet. I'll be in the library trying to research more on Lycans and also-"
"Also?"
"I've been thinking about. You know…" She trailed off moving closer as she lowered her voice, "what species Azian might be."
I widened my eyes at her revelation but managed to cover my surprise quite quickly. There was no need to show interest, "yeah, okay"
I wouldn't tell her I had been wondering the same as well.
Ally rolled her eyes, "aren't you curious? Even just a little bit? C'mon Kaya! We just found out Supernaturals exist and Azian seems to be so different from them all, I mean Legion too to some extent" she mumbled the last bit in further confusion, "but at least we know what he is, but Azian on the other hand, he's a mystery I'm yet to solve Kaya."
"And here I was thinking you would be satisfied at least knowing Supernaturals do exist."
"You thought I would quit just like that? Really Kaya? You really don't know me!"
That made me chuckle.
"We just found out about it and you thought I would leave it like that! You must not know me! I'm going to turn that world inside out!" She yelled sounding like a knight on a quest.
I chuckled at her serious enthusiasm glancing to Legion who had finally reached us. Like he had done when I first got to class and in the cafeteria at morning break, he slipped his hand into mine, his face immediately brightening.
"Aaaalright" Ally began clearly uncomfortable, "I'll just be going, Kaya you can keep this" she said slipping a piece of paper in my hand and giving me a stern glare as if I would be able to decipher what it meant before leaving us.
"And there she goes" I sighed as Legion turned to me. He gave me a toothy grin, "this means I have you for the rest of the day?" He asked tugging onto my other hand.
He really was sweet when he wanted to be. I found it hard to believe the same guy with a scowl on his face at all times could be this caring.
"Yeah," I replied trying to hide the faint blush creeping into my cheeks. Again I was not used to this much attention coming from the male species, "I mean just until my Dad or my Aunt finds the decency to cokes to pick me up," I explained.
He tilted his head to the side, his eyes sparkling with a certain charm, staring at me for a few seconds before successfully heating my cheeks up to 100 degrees.
He let out a chuckle, "I affect you a lot don't I?"
I rolled my eyes, "not as much as I affect you, Mr hold my hand all Day" I replied trying to hide the fact that he was actually right.
He let out a short laugh, "it's something I always wanted to do since the first day I laid my eyes on you, but I was afraid to get to close" he said the last part a little too quietly.
"Why?" I asked studying his face. His smile faded a little, "I-I thought you would run from me, when you found out what I was."
"Well you thought wrong, .I mean I did run...” I chuckled trying to put it into proper perspective, "but I came back," I said swinging my arm along with his.
I was beginning to get more comfortable in his company with each passing second. I thought he would smile but it barely reached his eyes before he glanced at the ground, "but you barely know me and w-what I am."
I paused watching his fallen face, "yes, I admit I don't but it’s nothing I can't learn. Right? How about we begin?" I asked trying to brighten the mood.
It worked when he grinned a little, "agh really now? Little miss Ass kicker wants to know more about the Thief?" He asked with a smirk.
I pushed him playfully causing him to chuckle, "she's decided he is worth getting to know, but not before getting a snack, I'm hungry" I muttered putting it out there before my stomach decides to embarrass me with unwanted growls.
"Deal, what do you want to eat princess?" He asked as we walked down the hall ways.
"A big old Burger" I replied grinning to myself.
**
I laughed watching Legion eyes twinkle in laughter, causing me to stare at him for a second. To study his face and his very defined features. He was a specimen.
I cleared my throat awkwardly after realizing I had been staring for far too long.
"You can stare Kaya, I like it. I like to know I'm not the only one who does it," he said causing me to blush further sipping on my milk shake as I stared out into the field, the wind blowing my hair into my face fixing my gaze on the football team training below us.
Legion was less than a hairs breath away from me, our arms touching as I heard a whistle blow in the distance as if signaling for a conversation to start brewing, "alright snack over, question time" I began placing my milkshake beside me.
Legion grinned shifting a little as I stood up, feeling his eyes watching me search for something, "where did I put it?" I asked aloud.
"What? What are you looking for?" Legion asked, each word dipping in concern.
I grabbed the piece of paper before it went flying into the wind, "gotcha, okay I'm ready" I said wiping my hands on my skirt before sitting down.
"What's that?" He asked moving to take a peak but I moved back blocking him, "uh-uh, " I said with a short laugh, "no peaking, it's just a bunch of questions" I said finally.
"When did you have the time to write down questions?" He asked puzzled as if trying to remember if there was a time I did actually begin to jot down a few questions.
"No, these are more like Ally’s, she gave them to me to ask you. She was pretty smart, she knew I probably would forget to ask some questions so she was clever enough to jot them down for me,"
"Ally? Huh, typical" he replied casually.
"You answered that like you were expecting that sort of thing," I replied studying his face.
He chuckled, "it's what to expect from her, she can't help it," he replied confusing me further.
"What do you mean?"
He studied me for a second before turning his whole body to me, blocking the sun from my view so I didn't have to squint when looking at him, "Ally, she's a finder"
"A finder! Wow!" I exaggerated clasping my hand over my heart in fake enthusiasm, "And a finder is?" I replied totally switching tones.
Legion shook his head, a smile forming, "you're a little crazy, princess"
I smacked his arm playfully, "C'mon! You know I know nothing of the supernatural. That’s if a finder is supernatural...wait. Are you saying Ally isn't human?!" I asked my face changing through expressions.
"Relax, it's not what you think, he eased, "and yes, your knowledge of the supernatural should be shallow, I only thought you knew about finders after reading creatures of the moon"
My eyebrows furrowed, "I did read it, but I don't remember anything about Finders."
He paused as if puzzled before rolling his eyes, "that's right, you couldn't have, Finders aren't of the Moon."
I think my face must have broken into a more than puzzled expression because Legion smirked before further explaining.
