Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Khloe’s POV

The nerve of that girl! I couldn't contain the anger that was seeping through me as I turned back to face the house. I tightened my fists watching her through the kitchen window. She covered her nose I grinned turning away.

I slipped back into my car, normally I would prefer to super speed my way home but in these heels I would arrive sore.

Plus that Abigail witch had scolded me over doing that in broad daylight. Who did she think she was, my mother?

I took one last glance at the house of my father’s other child before cruising away.

The moment I pulled up by the house I noticed that Liam’s car wasn't in the drive way. I rolled my eyes, that man would work himself to death but who cares? He is just a temporary piece of work my mother decided to grown fond of, either him. Or was it his money?

I shrugged grabbing my purse, Mother dearest gets what mother dearest wants.

Walking into the house my ever sharpened senses immediately picked up the subtle scent of sage. My mother was up to something.

I walked up stairs, my heels clicking with every step pushing the door wide open.

"Khloe dearest is that you?" Mother called looking up from her work. A mixture of herbs spread across the table.

I ignored her throwing my bag onto the nearest couch and sulking into it.

She paused and I caught her rolling her eyes, "what is it this time?"

I looked up at her with a scowl.

"What is it you need? More money? What do you want to buy?" She asked sighing clearly not paying attention, "Mother can give you your hearts desires"

"I used to think so" I replied still fuming from what Kaya had said to me. I really always thought she was an insignificant girl. I did not understand mothers concern for her, not that I cared, she was too puny for me to give a damn but she seems to have grown wings, and a little courage.

My mother stopped looking up at me after I had said so, “used to think?" She echoed, "Look around you, look at the luxuries you have, "she approached me slowly, "look at the clothes you wear. Look at the mate I gave you, isn't it all to your content?" She asked slyly as she sat next to me.

I looked away scoffing, "psh, you did, you did give me everything and I have never doubted your expertise mother, but lately I believe your magic is failing,"

Her eyebrows furrowed, “my Magic does not Fail Khloe" she spat her whole attitude changing like the seasons. She became as cold as winter standing up, "I am a great witch, lineage the lineage of the first witch herself, the oldest witch to ever exist, I have lived a century, and you, my daughter doubt my Magic? My magic is the strongest in the realms"

"Your magic is second, oops third" I replied rolling my eyes, "Abigail’s the most powerful witch, she is mother protector and Azians of course he surpasses all, though his dragon seems to be a little bitch at times.”

Mother cocked an eyebrow at this.

“Yes mother, another thing your magic failed. His dragon keeps pushing me away. Says the rudest things. I believe we are growing apart. Small things tick him off and that-.that..." I trailed off my jaw hardening, "that stupid stepsister you got me seems to be working my last nerve"

Mother laughed at this, "there is no need to worry about Kaya, and her fate was woven the moment her soul was mixed with that of Celeste. That thorn in my side will get what she deserves soon. Erilyn was actually good for something" she muttered

I groaned having had heard that name for the hundredth time, "you will not forget Erilyn will you?" I rolled my eyes.

Mother shot me a glare, "she had so much potential, but she had to fall in love with that Lycan imbecile. I warned her he would break her heart, those beasts can only ever love one person but we all know how stupid women can be. Who did she come running to when it happened? The poor girl, I did that spell for her, hatred fuelled her so much she was willing to sacrifice her soul to have that beast at her mercy for generations" mother walked back to the table closing the small book she always kept close to her.

Though uninterested I listened. I used to always want a mate for myself, I should have one but no I just had to be the daughter of the one kind of Vampire that was known to never be able to have one.

She sighed, "Revenge is sweet, and it’s a shame she wasn't there to taste it." She laughed suddenly looking back at me, "you should have seen when he came to consult me for a supposed cure. Stupid dog didn't realize there is no cure for soul magic"

"But you did give them a cure" I replied knowing the story well. I really was not interested to hear it once more but there goes mother only interested in herself.

A wicked smile was placed upon her lips, "of course I did, and it was not a cure. I gave them one thing, hope. A hope that someone could save them, he did everything he could, giving me permission to tap into legions soul to save him. It was then I found Celeste. It was then hope was lost. I guess his biggest mistake was to consult a dark witch he was to guilty to beg the true mother protector for the right cure" she grinned sitting on a chair as she kept rearranging the leaves.

I gritted my teeth, “I don't care for all that, I just want her gone, and she crossed the wrong path when she did what she did today, "I explained showing her the video.

Mothers face stiffened as she watched, “you confronted her?"

"Of course I did mother! I had to defend what was mine"

"And?'

“You should have seen the way she talked to me mother, like I was some sort of mere mortal she could swing every which way, "

"But you're not" mother rolled her eyes starting back to whatever she was doing, " sometimes I wonder how daft you can really be Khloe, you are one of the most powerful beings on this planet, daughter of a pure bred vampire and a great witch, you could have her cowering with a slight raise of your finger but no" Mother muttered.

My jaw hardened. I wanted to scream back at her and tell her she was equally challenged by Kaya as I was. She was in no place to call me daft.

But I closed my eyes counting down, I could rip a man's throat if I didn't find it repulsive. It was good my Vampire side was repressed by my Witch side.

At least I didn't have to survive on blood that would be totally disgusting. I'm quite sure Blood stains are hard to get off of Versace.

"Just stick to the plan dear and you will have everything your heart desires, keep Azian where he is meant to be -"

"That's difficult when he keeps pushing me away mother, you told me he would be head over heels in love with me!"

"And he should, if he is distant it only means you are not trying to connect hard enough. There is no way your connection could ever be weakened, the time is coming soon when your true father will come to collect and we would not want to disappoint him"

I paused at that, my fingers shaking at the sound of father coming back. It was best we did not disappoint him.

"The dragon Prince is the key, control him, we win this war, keep his dragon out of the way, if he can't shift the better. One less dragon is always good, especially his. Don't get too caught up with Kaya, she will get what's coming soon enough, I hear a king is in town" she smiled turning back to me, "just do as your mother dearest says Khloe and you will have everything you ever want, A whole realm beneath your feet, an army to take over this one, the wealth of a thousand kings and a handsome god by your side."

"Mother, you promise after this we won't have to think of father?"

She smiled culling my cheeks in her hands, "you trust your mother dearest? Don’t you?"

I nodded.
